personally i think its a great launch by the bmw and a horrible one by the sti...the sti launches like a raped ape and puts down a heck of alot more power to the pavement than a 330. I currently own a 330 and used to own an sti. The 330 is not even in the same league in a straight line. Overall the bmw is a more refined ride hands down but pure speed the sti wins, by a large margin, every time.
you guys are all dumb. 4,6,8,12 cylinders have nothing to do with a car. the STI wins because its first AWD. second is because the power to weight ratio is alot higher than the BMW. Lastly, the STI has a higher torque curve. Idk about the horsepower. it depends how they suped the car.

theres alot that affects drag racing times. a stock mustang with suspension, tires and driveshaft will run like 12.5 where an STI would need like 360hp to match that

i have 320 ci is a grate car and i know hou a 330 is like, ther is no way that this is a modified sti. a modified can easily rich 360 hp and the weight is the same. 230hp against 360 awhp, you do the math.
well 220hp wouldnt be really slow as fuck but the best part of this video is it hung with an WRX STi. Not just a WRX which is much slower. I was shocked too see it hung with it for 220HP. That is like around my maxima. And there is not way I can hang with a STi, I have beated a few WRXs tho. So it just shows u that Bimmers kno what to do with those 54 series engines.
Power to weight ratio in the BMW is better plus the power is more linear. The straight 6 doesn't have to rely on boost to get its power, I think that's ultimately what led to the STi not having as solid of a lead is due to the turbo lag.
It is also the AWD system to. Everybody says the STi's and EVOs are sooo fast compared to cars in their class but they are really not. The only reason why they get better times is because of the better lunches due to AWD. However AWD cars are horrid in drag races and on the highway. My friend somehow in An RSX Type S was practically beating my friends STi that is decently modded because the RSX's 6speed gears are just quicker on the highway and you got the powerloss of AWD around 60-80mph.
um, no sir. awd cars are terrible launch cars, they bog like no other off the line compared to rear wheel off the line, its when they whind up and catch that power band is when they take off like fuckin little rocket ships
@DARQMX STis and evos are faster than almost every car in their class. your friends RSX is slow as balls, those cars are lucky to hit a mid 14 in the 1/4. STis evos = 13.2s or better. 12s with light mods. the only cars that hang with them are your modded mazda speed 6s and modded mustang GTs. there arent many cars in thier price range that will hang. not bragging, just making a point.
I think anything that is in the low 15s to 14 is not really SLOW as balls. Its not FAST but its not slow. I usally use the term. "quick" I mean. I just have a maxima and I have already beaten lightly modded WRXs, An automatic Si, and plenty of other cars in its class. For a car that gets a 14.8 is not too bad imo for the price I paid.
Also, STi and Evos get that with good conditons and really good driving. Not to mention a 5-6k launch which REALLY kills those trannis and clutch. One reason why I am so weary when it comes to buying an Evo or an STi if I had the money because people beat the piss out of them. MY clutch is going bad right now actually. lol

my 2000 e46 328ci runs 0-60 in 6.5 with no mods and it has 193hp 206 tourque. I have done 140 in my car and im sure car with 30 more hp can easily hit the 155 limiter. And btw the new cars are much heavier so his 325 lightly modded with beat out new 328is. New bmw 328i 255 hp 0-60 6.1 35k. Old bmw 325i with heavy mods 20k 300hp 0-60 in 5.0-5.5. And i wonder which one will do better on track??????
they're both great cars... but the STI sold in the states is NOT the same car that's in the WRC, where's the EVO is a much more accurate rally car... that 330 can't be stock, they aren't nearly as fast as an STI...
I work for BMW and I can tell you that STOCK there's no way in hell a BMW 330 wins, that car appears to be an E46 BMW, the stock 0-60mph time on this car is 6.4 seconds (very slow) and the car has 225hp, tops speed 128mph. A STOCK STI however has 300hp, AWD and does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 168mph! that car is either not stock! or the STI driver is a horrible driver! 330's are very slow...

Lol get your facts straight. Bmw rates the 335i at 0-60 in 5.4 sec. Many people take completely stock 335is and get 4.8s outta them. There an underated car. The website takes the 335xi and rates its at 5.3.

Right now you can buy R34 GTR Vspec for £17,500 or standard GTR for around 10-12k....
Thats an R34, so lets take in mind the R33 GTR and R32 GTR, which will both modded kill a STI in drag/drift you name it.
Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R Vspec = £6900 with Stage 2 HKS Turbokit... Thats already around 490bhp..

@yourfast06 a 2004 M3 ran anywhere from a 13.3 to a 13.7 depending on the trim package. a 2004 STi ran anywhere between a 13.2 and a 13.5 depending on the tester. a stock supra turbo only bested a mid to low 13. the supra cost upwards of 35k+ in 1998. the m3 cost well over 40k in 2004. so whos the moron? comparing a 6 cylinder twin turbo and a $40k+ car to a $32k car that will easily hang with both.

stop bitching like a little kid. there are some 1400HP Skylinies, and there are some 1400HP Impreza's. Both can be really fast, and both are very well to tune. Stock: both car's great to drive, and easy for all-day-use.

I just wanted to let everyone know that i bow down to all Bimmers. I cut off a 335I coupe the other week and i didnt know they had turbo... and he stuck behind me for a while, and when he switched lanes, i tried to leave him (key word TRIED) and he blew the doors off my Acura TSX. That is the last time i race any Bimmer! Lord Help Me

my 2000 e46 328ci runs 0-60 in 6.5 with no mods and it has 193hp 206 tourque. I have done 140 in my car and im sure car with 30 more hp can easily hit the 155 limiter. And btw the new cars are much heavier so his 325 lightly modded with beat out new 328is. New bmw 328i 255 hp 0-60 6.1 35k. Old bmw 325i with heavy mods 20k 300hp 0-60 in 5.0-5.5. And i wonder which one will do better on track??????

STi 0-60 (stock) = under 5 seconds (if modded - maybe even 4.0-4.5)
330ci 0-60 = 6 seconds

they're both great cars... but the STI sold in the states is NOT the same car that's in the WRC, where's the EVO is a much more accurate rally car... that 330 can't be stock, they aren't nearly as fast as an STI...

I work for BMW and I can tell you that STOCK there's no way in hell a BMW 330 wins, that car appears to be an E46 BMW, the stock 0-60mph time on this car is 6.4 seconds (very slow) and the car has 225hp, tops speed 128mph. A STOCK STI however has 300hp, AWD and does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 168mph! that car is either not stock! or the STI driver is a horrible driver! 330's are very slow...

Lol get your facts straight. Bmw rates the 335i at 0-60 in 5.4 sec. Many people take completely stock 335is and get 4.8s outta them. There an underated car. The website takes the 335xi and rates its at 5.3.

it all depends on which website you look at... I was just showing what a jack off the guy I was responding too is... why don't any of you people get your facts straight... a stock 328i is 230hp... NOT 255hp... the TURBO 335's are 300hp... they are fast... but not 911 Turbo fast (they do 0-60 in 4.8) the bmw is way to heavy and doesn't have the traction for that... a 335 might have a shot at beating a sti... maybe... but I think it's still too heavy... then again a 4wd will bog off the line so ??

Mm i must have been looking at the the euro m spec 328i or something. But the stis are not that light especially the new ones. The 335 is only 300lbs heavier. The fact that its a 4 banger has 4wd and the turbo system isn't as good. And yeah the other guy is an idiot i was just pointing that out. Sti +335i= good race.

very nice indeed, no traction controls on the 02s if im not mistaken. that does seem a bit quick for stock though, i have an 06 wrx (not sti) and an 06 m3 takes me by one car length at 80mph from stop, my friends 330i cant even keep up. thats some very nice driving.
