  • clean out the fuel line's and take the carb apart clean the jets

  • the smokeing can come from bad rings and to much oil and u shouldnt spend that much on a carborater

  • yes ur piston would be fine and the smokeing can come from to much oil or the rings r bad and u need to replace them

  • yes ur piston would be fine

  • It wont idle unless the idles turned up will it. I have 2 of these your rings are worn.these almost never have carb problems unless someone takes it apart or changes something

  • Try changing the oil and cleaning out the carb

  • Re-jet the carb and adjust ur idle

  • Turn down your idle man>.> and your carb pin might be bent

  • 1) check your gas 2) your float may be stuck starving the engine of fuel

  • you said it idle's up and down with out touching the throttle? check your throttle cable you may have it way to tight causing it to do that. For your smoking prob. just get some rings 30$ and topend gasket set and you should be all set

  • check your ignition timing my big reds was off and it ran really rich just like yours

  • might be your choke sticking causing it to foul out the plugs (making them black and causing the hi idle) itll make it run like just plain shit

  • its deffenatly in ur carb

  • I had a 1987 200x that I had to rebuild-one day it filled the yard with thick smoke. Before it only smoked during start up and had slight surge at idle. most problems can be solved by a good spray out of the jets and ports.

  • your idle ports on your carb need to be cleaned(they are the small holes in the front and back of the carb (both intake ports) use carb cleaner, spray it in there and use a compressor to blow air into them and it will clear them up and it should run fine

  • my 185s smoked alot and idle high and my buddy told me to change the rings and that did the job

  • here's a few things. first, give the carb a good cleaning, and make sure the jets aren't clogged. second, check the gap in your spark plug and make sure it's the correct size. last, make sure you've got the right air/fuel mix, before you toy around with your idle adjustment. good luck, and nice 200x.

  • myn did the same thing i took my carb apart and the floats where sticking and i went up in jet and it runs good now

  • clean the carb a jet might be clogged causing its not getting enough gas

  • more than likely a carb rebiuld would do some good , there not that pricey

  • i already got a 200$ carb job

  • @triz250rtecatedude did u buy a new carb?

  • @triz250rtecatedude haha $200, u can buy brand new ones off ebay for $20 lol

  • Hard to tell since it barely ran but check the adjustment of your throttle cable on top of your carb. Adjust it running and that'll likely fix it if you havn't made any recent adjustments on the carb.

  • haha man it would have helped alot if i would of had gas in the tank lol

  • yeah i had a 86 200x just clean the carb real real good and on the throttle slide take it apart too take the spring off and pull the needle out it will have a C clip make sure it is in the middle of all the grooves on the needle this might solve some of the problems dont loose the c clip... plus with surtin pipes the carb has to be jetted and check the oil if it smeels like gas change it if you dont it will wash the rings out

  • would the piston be good if your ring r shot

  • same thing on my 350x. i just went ahead and rebuilt tha carb with a carb kit. took my time and it was pretty easy. made adjustments and She runs like a champ!!!! LOVE 350X

  • i just decided to get a brand new oversized carb so yeah......wuld it have anything to do with the thrittle cable??

  • Just clean the carburetor and it will probably run fine. I have a couple of them myself.

  • im not sure if this is will help but have u checked ur timeing chain?

  • no its got a brand new cam chain and cam chain sprocket :)

  • oo well then if thats not it then u jus needa adjust ur carb and if thats not it idk

  • ya your carb is just dirty get you manual out and it will show you how to clean it. Or run some seaform through it will clean it out big time serious run seaform through it you will shit your pants how good it will run after

  • yeah i have decided im just gonna go get a brand new raing carb fir it so i can beat my cousins in their dirt bikes lol.

  • take it apart and clean it very good. take your time and set it like hondaatc1987 guy said to. run it a while and rev it high while you ride it. my 200s carb was just like urs. i cleand it really good played with the adjustments and runs fine now. still a tad rich but 10 times better than before. i could still tweek it a lil more but eh its fine. good luck man

  • yeah i have decided im just gonna go get a brand new raing carb fir it so i can beat my cousins in their dirt bikes lol.

  • hey man i think i know ur problem. if the machine is a 2 stroke than u must have to much oil in the gas tank. trust me

  • dude how can i trust u if you cant even hear that my 200x is a 4 stoke the only 2 stroke quad or atc honda ever made was the atc 250r and the trx 250r

  • well austin you should have a very orgy butt sex with it... and when you hear your engine roar your good.. lolololol

  • already tried that it didnt work i would if it was a girl heck iwould marry tha thing if i could lol :P

  • You need to adjust the main jet on your carb. It is definately a carburator problem. The black smoke you see is gas but if you ever see blue smoke ,well that is oil burning due to bad rings or valve seals. I would suggest you buy a new carb. FIRST check for and leaks around the intake and and turn the main jet screw all the way in and turn it back 2 and a half turns and it should be set right.

  • i agree with handaatc1987, but new carbs can be expensive, guy came in my dads work with a 200x and a new carb was $320 in change

  • thats wat christmas is for lol

  • lol thats true

  • yeah the slide inside the carb that goes up and down with the throttle, and check your o-rings in the exhaust

  • my xr200 was doing the same thing, the slide in my carb was getting stuck, and it needed rings, also you should just fool around with the idle screw thats what i did and mine runs great now

  • what is the slide?

i know what the float jet and everything else is but i have never heard of the slide is that the throttle thing that goes up and down like a throttle plate except it goes up, and down right? oh and on the subject of rings if you mean piston rings well it just got a top end rebuild so yeah
