Mark Waugh was awsome in his time. But age caught up to him quicker than his brother.

I loved watching Mark Waugh's style of carefree batting as much as Steve's old fashioned nuggety batting style.

Not to mention Mark Waugh was one of the best slip fielders of all time.

@hottgirl924 Totalkiller makes on valid point. Steve is a far superior batsman to Junior. A nuggety match-winner who would nail down the best of bowlers and perform in all conditions - in many aspects I actually think Steve would supercede Tendulkar or Lara or even Sir Viv Richards. To me, he summed up Australian tenacity.

Mark Waugh was a fine player, but never achieved as much as he should have. For pure natural talent, he was awesome. BTW, it's good to see girls supporting cricket. Cheers!

@totalkiller555 It is not Mark Waugh's fault that Martyn's weaknesses against Donald and Ambrose were exposed. Let's face it - Damien Martyn was an elegant looking player who performed very well in some conditions. I don't think though that he is adequately possessed in terms of technique to deal with great fast bowlers on lively surfaces. One reason why he had to wait till Walsh, Ambrose, Wasim, Waqar were gone and Donald was old to stamp his place in the side.

Mark Waugh was & will always be my favourite player, one of the kings of our golden era in Australian cricket. His 110 against New Zealand in the 96 world cup is a classic, his 126 against the windies in 95 another, his best was his 139* on the 91' wndies tour -

a masterclass against great bowling. How I miss him & his brother - Legends of our great game. He deserved far better than to be dropped after a poor decision
