  • @wmachado500 sam thing here!

  • my ps3 is just sittng in the corner to

  • my ps3 does that but except in green lines

  • @HolyAaron180 mine too did you fix the problem?

  • @SiickMouse no sony is making me pay 90 bucks to get it fixed because my warrinty raan out

  • @HolyAaron180 I've still got this PS3 just sat in a corner doing nothing, still comes on for a minute then freezes, might attempt to re-flow it using a heat gun or my oven since I'm not losing out.

  • Why pay Sony hundreds of dollars to fix THEIR mistake? Fix your PS3 today by yourself at home. From YLOD to red screen - youtube.com/watch?v=W6IqzZV3c0k

  • I had this same problem. Last night May 4th 2010 I opened it up and replaced the thermal paste. I used Arctic Sliver 5 it was $9.99 at radio shack.today May 5th I've been playing different games trying to get it to freeze. Mine would always freeze when I exited a game. It's been on 6 hours now and hasn't froze once. Only time will tell.

  • @Dewnlafied I did the same about a week ago, I even used the same paste; worked fine for an hour then it broke but do to my own stupidity, I forgot to reconnect the fan to board so I guess it's burnt itself out now xD

But yeah the thermal paste did infact help it, it if wasn't for my stupidity it'd still be working now, 'least i got a another PS3 anyhow.

  • @Vicousvern after 6hrs I watched a DVD of Trailer Park Boys, and it worked fine. Then I tried to watch a DVD of Mad Men and it froze three or four times. Eventually, I got it to play, but I haven't really used it since. But it did make a difference because i can actually quit games without it freezing.

  • @Dewnlafied /watch?v=yBKuhQHXS8A

    works great

    made my day!

  • I had the same problem - It is the RSX GPU

What you have to do is open up the console and heat the chip so it reflows the soldier grid balls using a Heat Gun at 300 Degrees Celsius (300 I think - cant remember)

But with mine, I accidentally set it to 600 degrees Celsius and the RAM chips kinda melted xD

So I also bought a new one from eBay with a faulty br-drive and I will swap then over then re-sell it

  • @Haunted360 Yea I had a feeling that i'd have to heat the chips, however I don't have a heat gun but I've heard of people heating it up in an oven xD might try that, makes no difference to me now lol.

  • @Vicousvern no no no big mistake - do not do this it will damage every component on the board even worse then what I did

(I sent you a PM if you would like to do another idea)

  • Fixed it! bought a new one :P lol

  • it could be the software on the actual PS3

  • Perhaps something wrong with the scart output on that PS3.... Though that shouldn't crash it unless it has issues with certain display modes.

  • i'll ask my bro if he knows this problem, he sells these things and has one himself to so ;) i'll get back to ya

  • @wimp313 Cheers Wim :) gonna test it on my mother's HD tv 2moz see if its the same, I presonally think it's just the scart.

  • Sorry about the audio, AudioSwap in progress so should be better once finished :/
