At least this game is remaining true to the FPS roots. Where games were unrealistic exactly like the first FPS like wolfenstein 3d and DOOM and im glad there staying true to it. They arent afraid of trying something crazy even battlefield is at least trying to raise the standard even if it is realistic looking. I hope more games like this come out. I for one am buying this and cannot wait. Hope to see people from Australia on multiplayer

What I mean is I hope they don't make it TOO over-the-top. Now I know Sam has more or less always been like that, but there comes a point even for Sam where it just becomes predictable, generic, and corny. These guys have it tough because they want to capture back that loyal fanbase but also want to appeal to new players. Especially today when a chunk of people are playing other FPS's they may go a bit overboard (Like Duke) and it may just be an insult to the true followers.

@NoodleVoid Doom (and Quake, and more recently Rage) are made by id Software, whereas this is made by a Croatian dev called Croteam. With that said, Sam gets a lot of inspiration from Doom, particularly a specific style of Doom level called "slaughtermap." It basically consists in throwing tons and TONS of enemies at you (Kill counts above 1,000 aren't uncommon) for you to mow down and feel like the ultimate badass while doing it.

@narrat0r12 I honestly think the few additions that were borrowed from halo 2 and call of duty, an overabundance which ruined duke 4, are actually going to boost BFE. i remember how much i hated playing a coop game where you join a server too late, and have to catch up to everyone, or having to do a light jog across a desert because the last wave chased you back to the beginning. the 'sprint' essentially solves this problem, and I welcome it entirly. reloading also goes with the storyline.
