  • "If there's one game I wish I'd made, it's NiGHTS."

    -Shigeru Fucking Miyamoto

  • Somehow I prefer the cutesy anime-style character designs of this game to the more realistic ones of Wii's "Journey of Dreams".

  • isnn't nights a knockoff of peter pan?

  • @jekblom123

    OUT NOW

  • @michiyoyoshiku NIGHTS WAS INSPIRED BY PETER PAN

  • @jekblom123

    No, no it wasn't

  • @michiyoyoshiku well I cant see it as coincidence that a whimsical flying character teaches some children to fly with him/her in an enchanted new world. Not to mention the appearence of big ben in a nights level, and the fact that Nights has an English accent in the wii game

  • @jekblom123

The Wii Game doesn't count. Nights is a genderless jester who live in the world of Dreams.

  • 1985 for me.

  • born 93 i was 4 when i first tried havent played ever since but watching this gameplay made me remind old memories stored in me that it seemed long forgoten thanks nights!

  • this is the same engine sonic X treme was gonna use

  • I'm sorry but I do not see the appeal of this game :/ I was born in 1995 and I love new games but I love the classics too, but this just looks boring.....

  • @LordCHull I have to agree. I'm a die hard fan of classic games, but this looks fucking boring.

  • @LordCHull it was kind of boring after a while but it was really addictive...or at least for me. of course i was born in 93 so i was like 7 or something playing this game and it was so HARD lol :)

  • I'm an cranky old man now (27) and I don't play any new games. Bring on Nights, the original Quake and the first Grand Theft auto! That's about as new as I wanna get.

  • I was born in 1992, I remember my brother playing this as well as my sister wanting to have clockwork night. The 1990's had such a different variety of creative games, my favorite game that was also different was comix zone on sega genesis

  • NYUUUUAAARGH!!! I didn't buy a Saturn, I bought a Playstation!! I'M TOO LAAAAAAAATE!!!!

  • I was part of the playstation crowd and never touched a saturn, so i ordered one just now which included this game among others to see what i missed!

  • Well, I was born in 1987, and I remember this game when it came out. I never got into it, my cousin had it on Saturn (I didn't have one), but we always played Die Hard Arcade instead, which was a rocking game!

  • I'm happy I was born in 1998 I still got to experience some of old school games before FPS shooters came around. My ps1,ps2, and gamecube is where all the games I bought go to. All a game needs is story and good gameplay. Does graphics really matter?

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the song/track that plays after you clear a stage/boss?

  • 3 persons don't have dreams :(

  • Back then you had to actually use your brain and imagination and figure games out by just simply....."PLAYING".. All these kids today need introductions and tutorials for each new game they buy... kinda sad and disappointing.. only us "RETROHEADS" will understand our beautiful generation of gaming.. the 90s!

  • @ztilo

might be because games have gotten more complicated. 90's games were simple, really, really simple.

  • this game looks boring and lame

  • so.... all you do is fly into hoops?

  • I remember when this game was on display at Blockbuster Video years ago. It was a first gen release to show off graphics.

  • So you just do flips and shit and jump through hoops for points?

  • That game also looks fucking complicated, Why the hell doesn't nights talk, Is he a man or woman, And how the fuck do you play it?

90's right now are complicated to understand.

  • this was a hidden gem......one of the first and truly therapeutic games I've been fortunate to play.

  • Thumbs up if you still own your Saturn :)

  • I was more of a PlayStation guy in the 90's and a bit of the N64.

Early 90's it was the Genesis that I played.

  • This is a very relaxing game not how call of duty where you get mad every second

  • what the crap is happening here

  • I missed out on this game growing up for the fact I never had a Sega Saturn, but I always loved playing the demo when it was in stores, and drifted off into this new world. I'd love to play this game one day somehow though. <3 Gotta appreciate games from the past.

  • ahhh memories <3

  • I Am So Excited!!! I Am Getting This Game Tomorrow!! :D

  • THIS GAME RULES I HAVE IT (wait a sec how come i havent played it for um years?)

oh i should have played it again WAHHHHH I WANNA PLAY IT AGAIN *goes to play*

  • bad player

  • I had this when I was younger, I tried to play it, but at that time it was so hard to finish cause there is no such thing as a memory card. Maybe their is but I don't have one soooooo.... I only get to play up until 1st stage, ^^;;

  • Its direct from saturn or it is emulated?

  • beauiful game.

  • clipping awsome seriously it's full of clipping

  • this game taught me so much about birds

  • Quality title. All time classic.

  • 90s had amazing games. street fighter 2, chrono trigger, metal gear solid, final fantasy 7, mortal kombat, nba jam, donkey kong country, super metroid, list goes on!

  • @kirbyyasha

I was actually born in 1997, so I sort of got into the new stuff.

I've been playing the old games a lot recently, and I do say that graphics do not make the game; they add to the game.

What really makes a game fun is its gameplay and uniqueness.

  • @DaGenericName that stuff must seem realy old to you huh?

  • @DaGenericName the new generation born after 1997 are idiots, they do not have manners, or respect at all. and they play gay ass new games which are pointless IMO

  • @heuylewis5000

    Like Modern Warfare 3. XD

  • @darkx602

Get off the internet HOW DARE YOU mention modern whorefare in the presence of real gamers

  • @michiyoyoshiku

Did you even bother to read the comment I was replying to? I HATE Call of Duty. It's repetitive, boring, and over-hyped. Not only does every game look exactly the same, but there are also plenty of FPS games that are more fun, like Team Fortress 2, Halo, and Metroid Prime (but that one's an FPA). But I don't only play FPS games either. Some people in my school have finally started to stop buying COD games.

  • @darkx602

It's a testament to how much I hate Call of Dookie, I just see the name and I blow up.

  • @DaGenericName the graphics are great though, I love the vast array of colours!

  • I had a Saturn and i have never played this. I played Doom, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop Daytona USA, Gun Grifon, Resident Evil, X-Men COTA and many more, but not Nights.

Goddamit, I failed my childhood :(

  • sooooo... whats with all the fags getting an erection from the 90s?

  • @wtfmaker2596 You had to be there.

  • Comment removed

  • What made the 90s the best decade for gaming was that we got the best of both 2D and 3D games, plus we enjoyed a wealth of far more genres to play from. Nowadays only a few genres flourish while 2D gaming is pretty much dead. In the 90s exciting new games came out all the time for console, arcade, and PC, so we had lots of variety. Today's gaming culture just sucks.

  • Sad part is, newer generation of gamers will never appreciate games like this due to the fact that the graphics would never match to a newer console such as a PS3/Xbox360 in HD. "Ew, 480i?! Gross."

  • when i played sonic adventuers i saw this guy. who is he and what is this game about?

  • this had great graphics!

  • wow this games looks terrible to me but i know if i ever got it i could never stop playing it.

  • Here goes the version I like, not that new crappy one.

  • This looks awesome, but I dont have a saturn, so I guess I'll have to get the Wii version.

  • Why does this remind me of Superman 64?

  • @OrochiBorgieman Superman 64 was a bag of terribly rendered 3d ass. This game was actually fun to play and had my sega saturn not gave out and was still operable...Id still be playing this game. This game was short but had challenging elements in it, which made the replay value (at least for me) very high. Seriously, you should try it when you get the chance. You will not be disappoint.

  • Video games just don't have good sound design anymore...

  • So, please explain this to me again SEGA, because I still don't quite understand: WHY THE HELL ISN'T THIS ON THE WII VIRTUAL CONSOLE YET???

  • @madmaestro3000

because it would have to run on a Saturn emulator, and Saturn emulation is EXTREMELY tricky. Only recently have PCs been able to emulate Saturn hardware well. Remember that the system had about 8 different processors, 2 of which were CPUs, and two of which were VDPs (used for graphics processing). And Saturn games that really took advantage of the hardware were written in assembler (low level computer language, which is almost always unique to whatever processors are used).

  • @spiffyvictory Sorry, but I don't buy it. Sonic R was a Sega Saturn game and has been ported to both the PC and Gamecube.

You can't tell me that SEGA couldn't throw this up on the Virtual Console, if they wanted to...

  • @madmaestro3000

Well, there's a difference between a port and something running on an emulator. Yes, Sonic R was ported to PC and GC, but Sega had to completely port the Saturn code (in other words, change it) over to something PC and GC would understand. It wasn't running on an emulation of Saturn hardware. Hell, it may be, due to being developed by Traveller's Tales, that the game itself wasn't coded in assembler, but C based tools, making it easier to port.

  • @madmaestro3000

Also keep in mind that Virtual Console games are running on emulators of whatever hardware the games originally ran on. So in order for this to be on WiiVC, there would have to be a Wii Saturn emulator, and full speed emulation of Saturn hardware is, as I stated, difficult without pretty powerful configurations. The best Sega could do to fulfill your request is port the code over...but that would cost more money overall than just putting up the ROMs to run on an emulator.

  • @spiffyvictory If that's the case, then SEGA really should just port the code. It's an old game. It really shouldn't be that hard. And they would quickly make their money. Tons of people would purchase it, I'm sure.

If they can port Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters to PC and Gamecube then, by God, they should be able to port NiGHTS onto the Wii. No excuses.

Also, let's not forget that they made a completely new sequel for the Wii exclusively. They obviously had enough cash to do *that*.

  • @madmaestro3000

this game has already been ported to the playstation 2, but it was only released in japan.

there are videos on youtube from it. in the ps2 version the graphics are upgraded, but you can also play a saturn mode where you get the original graphics.

  • I wish there was a level creator for this game like with rayman it would be phat..

  • This will be my inception.

  • Can tell you've played it a lot because the music is completely different - Nights evolved as you went along so the music and scenery etc changed - still didn't make it good but it was a nice touch

  • i really wish i could play this..they need to put this game on the virtul console even if it's the only saturn one they do...

  • :11 i saw a metroid!!

  • First time i look at this game >.>

i gotta say holy shit! never seen such a confusing world lol!

I cant say is bad though cause i never played it, but wouldnt mind though

  • One of the few games where I actually liked the sequel more. Not for story elements or any of that, I just liked the stages better on the Wii game. That was probably just the better graphics, though. D:

  • And gamers try saying this is not a gamer's game? Really? I have never played this game and this looks harder than other games that are so called gamer's games. Looks harder than most racing games. This game is also scored based and among the prettiest I have ever seen.

  • i have owned the original game and now i play the remake

i solded my saturn when i was a child cause i dindt like it very much...then five years later i wanted to re buy it!but dindt have the money...seven years later i found the remake for ps2...i cryed when i replayed this i-i

  • @Tr3s3ntos I never got the change to play it on Saturn, always wanted to get one... Anyways I just got the Ps2 remake. It's my first time with the game, as a huge sega and sonic team fan I must say this is an incredible masterpiece. Feels like a bizarre version of a Sonic the Hedgehog game. The feeling is the same but the enviroment and controls are just top notch, unbelievable... Great music, awesome designs... God this should've been released on the Dreamcast :(

  • a new copy of this is 138 dollars O_O

  • @DRAGONCLAN1000 If you own a saturn and want this game but cant afford it buy a Sega saturn modchip for 30 dollars

  • @JoostRevo i already got a copy from its release date o_o im just saying it is pretty expensive for a old game.

  • @DRAGONCLAN1000 Yeah. but you know many copys can be destroyed at this time

  • Man, I love this game- and I've never even played it.

I'd love to have a dream in which I actually fly. It seems like every single person I talk to remembers flying and the corresponsive pleasant sensation at least once in their dreams... except me.

    -Sob-...

  • @ryarod *I had a dream were I was flying so when I waked up i thought i could fly and fell on the floor

  • @JoostRevo Hehe... That's pretty funny. And yet, I am now all the more envious- I'd love to feel that sensation of freedom- even and especially if it'd end in such a comical way as you describe.

It's amazing how the human mind works, isn't it? The fact we're able to place ourselves elsewhere in our hearts and imaginations is such a gift.

  • I dreamd that i had a sega saturn. but the i waked up

  • @JoostRevo That's too bad. Was the cast of NiGHTS in the dream? That'd be quite befitting, methinks.

  • @ryarod Lol i saw this sega saturn and hooked it up and started playing NiGHTS

  • @JoostRevo Ah, I see. That must have been really cool! I was thinking for a moment, though, that since NiGHTS takes place in the main characters' dreams, that NiGHTS itself might be present in this dream you speak of.

  • @ryarod I don't know, i was just so ecxited for getting a sega saturn

  • surprisingly this game is what sparked my interest in lucid dreaming when I was just a kid!

  • sega saturn was the most underated system of all time it had so many great games rpg's fps adventure strategy you name it it had it i loved my saturn and if i ever find another 1 i will buy it and play it like it was the first time all over again oh and btw haters can suck my balls no homo!

  • (Sigh), I remember I used to play this for hours and hours. Saturn was so underrated. Call me crazy also, but in many ways I think the graphics for that system have aged better than on either of the other two systems.

  • I nostalgia'd so fucking hard just now.

  • NiGHTS is MAGICAL! <3 DREAM WORLD AMAZING!!! Remember back in the day when I got my SATURN was patiently waiting for this. The ability to fly and have that freedom was SPECIAL :)

Hope SEGA port this to the PSN soon!

  • I thought that this game was fantastic!

  • what was the objective of this game?

  • @TehMclovinShow It's kind of a Sonic game, but instead of running, you fly through some amazing and weird stages. Sonic used to be my personal hero, but after playing Nights, now I'm rethinking that :P

  • wow I was expecting the game to look different than the Wii version since I'd heard this game was phenomenal (and I got the Wii sequel and lost interest in about 20 minutes)--this looks identically bad.

  • Looks pretty gay sorry.

  • @steve4123456789 you are gay and haven't played this game before.

  • @sh4p3shifter Lol had more women than you have had men probably, might get it its got a good name under its belt by the sonic team.

  • sega is gonna port this and other saturn games to XBLA and PSN! Its gonna be amazing

  • You CAN'T have a Saturn and not have this game

  • wow this video really takes me back. i still have this game. i just dont have a saturn to play it on lol

  • Man, I miss this game... I heard they made a sequel to it for the wii... but is it any good... anything like this at all?

  • @love0hina yeah, very similar, with some new features aswell

  • Why is the music different? Mine never sounded like this on my Sega Saturn. Same song but just a different version of it. How come?

  • @thecacaman1

You don't know about the pians and their affect on the music?

  • @SkylyDeef, Hm? No didn't know about that. Still a bit lost lol. I've beat the game and all but never had this version of song.

  • Still have my saturn and still get emotional about this game... it's so good... the music, visuals, everything about it just gets you in this awesome mood... It's almost depressing!

  • it does bring back memories..how inspiring it was

  • god i miss this game

  • I LOVE NIGHTS!!!!! I think this is the only game i relaly completed the whole gameplay :D

  • I wish I have had this game back in 1997

  • This game is quite easy... unless you decide to do a perfect score. Then this game truns to one of the hardest i ever played.

  • sooo many memories of my saturn

  • LOL this game shows the effects of drugs like dmt

  • do u ever battle in this game?

  • Yeah, there's bosses.

  • *sighs* i wish i had this game T_T

  • PURE VANGUARD

  • I got the best of the 80's and 90's. I went through the Atari 2600, coleco, intellivision, NES, SMS, TG16, gameboy.. I was 13 when the Genesis came out. Then serious computer gaming exploded just in time for me to be old enough to hang.

  • So How Does this Game Work?

  • I love this game n_n

  • OMG this game reminds me so much of Saturn, I spent hours on it but never beat it. Was great being a kid in the 1990's

  • Yeah, wasn't it great being a kid in the 90's? I don't think there was a better time grow up!

  • the 80's its the answer.

  • Mmm, it's a good contender but with games like these and so many others, these were the times to be a kid.

  • ...Yeah, may be truth, but as an 80's kid id grow up playing trough 8-bit to 16-bit games, and the graphics were on second, in the 90's a lot of "gamers" started to choose the games by the looks only. Still, great times.

  • @fourtywpm amen

  • @fourtywpm damn right

  • @fourtywpm I feel sorry for the kids that grew up in these past 10 years. 90s will never be beat!

  • @tribalflames12

i know 92-98 was pretty crazy in still stick there .

  • @tribalflames12

Tell me about it. Kids today got NOTHING!

  • @tribalflames12 Nostalgia is a hell of drug. They'll say the same things about their games and with good reason. Games are better today.

  • @Chris8282 Not really. The RPGs and the fighters arent near as good. They have also really thinned out the good platformers. Todays market is basically this shooters and more shooters. Theres no variety anymore. Im sorry, but the 90s will always be the best. Shooters and horrors on the other hand are much better today, but they cant touch the platformers or RPGs or old.

  • @Chris8282 Fighters and RPGs suck nowadays. The platformers are getting quite a bit better, but theres just too many shooters thats all the market is nowadays, because of online gaming there are very few other genres. Thank God for the Wii (I personally own a 360) for bringing out the old classics. The 90s will never be beat for RPGs, and fighters. I may have double posted, my bad if I did.

  • @tribalflames12 Well, you can't account for bad taste.

  • @tribalflames12 I'm sure that the kids who grew up in these past 10 years will say the same thing once they grow up. Another thing, I hate how everybody thinks games are amazing just because they give them nostalgia and are old. I won't say that any of my old games are better than my new ones.

  • @tribalflames12 this was an awesome game to bad i never was able to get it but i do remember playing the old sega saturn but i have been playing game's since like 1990's and i was born 1989 all the old game's are so good and the new games are so crap wish they made good games / movies these days :(

  • @sarg1000 I never played this game to be truthful, but my favorite games were in this era. There was Donkey Kong, Pandemonium, Crash Bandicoot, and all the old turn based RPGs. Not to mention the fighting games of old like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat. I will say that the new MK is pretty much like the old ones, but I wont play it because its got so much junk in it.

  • @tribalflames12

Yea cuz, in the 90s was when the only good games , music and tv shows were out.. On January 1st, 2000 it all went bad, including all the music, shows and tv that was out seconds before. Damn, i grew up in the 00s.. i might just commit suicide, especially since SA2B , The Sims , Gta etc. were all terrible games since they were released in the 2000s....

  • @JAPSCANTFLY I never said anything about the music, I also didnt say they were the only good games. The games now are good too, but theyre just not the same. Most of the games at least on the consoles are M rated unless you get a Wii. The 90s still have some of the best games ever. The best games of all time list on any website or magazine has quite a few games from the 90s if you havent noticed. The cartoons were better as well, now its all CG junk.

  • @tribalflames12

I know.. but there is a huge difference between games and cartoons now and 2001ish, which is when i was a kid =)

  • @tribalflames12 the 90's were some of the best times of my life

  • @tribalflames12 fuck yea!

  • @tribalflames12 got that right but i was born in 2000 all the new shows and stuff are shit but i watch all the old 90s shows and i have old games too :D

  • @TheWizard101glitcher The days of waking up early on saturdays for cartoons is a thing of the past. Its actually kind of sad.

  • @tribalflames12 I liked the early 2000's the most. ESPESCIALLY 2003. Best year in game history

  • @tribalflames12 amen

  • @fourtywpm Back in the days when gamers had imagination... Oh how we've changed ;_:

  • @Shadowfang3000 you're just not playing the right games :)

  • @dotchoo *cries in corner* XD

  • @Shadowfang3000 seriously? i thought you'd ask what games :D

  • @fourtywpm Totally agree : D

  • @fourtywpm expecialy if you had a saturn.

  • @fourtywpm dude I'll second that I'm 1983 and lemme tell you the s**t got good around 7yrs later on, so 90s for the WIN! best MUSIC, best TELEVISION, and most important, best GAMES ^_^

  • What the fuck is going on?

  • Collect blue orbs, put them into a machine, proceed to the next level. The game is really about showcasing the advantages of 3D - namely full flight around an environment - as well as being trippy as hell to make it an art game.

  • a simple, classicist type of game about having a blast on your goal for a highscore with naive, warm surroundings, greast music and (still) beautiful graphics.

just happens to be one of the best games ever.

  • Yea but it wasn't total freedom when flying, it was guided, but yea it was revolutionary in ways. The clock chasing used to scare the shit out of me

  • that was my question when i saw the first one for the Satrun. It was Awesome!!

  • I bought this off ebay for a wopping 10 bucks. I'm playing it right now and it is fucking STELLAR!! It'd probably be even better if I had the 3d control pad but none the less if you have a saturn and dont have this game you are a fool.

  • have aney of you notesd how much sonic and nights have in common?

  • yeah... well the classic sonic anyway... sonic once lived in a psychodelic colourful world like nights....but now he hangs arounf humans on earth like a noob :(
