im only 15, and i have already got plans of building the kit car version, but where im only young probably best i only put a subaru 2.5 maybe a turbo engine into it, gr8 vid, luv that car to pieces, would have that over any ferrari, lamborghini or maserati any day, im british but at heart im classic american !! WOOO ROCK ON SHELBY
haha im about to get my license too and i already hav plans to buy an old 67 fastback and put the eleanor bodykit on it. anything less than a V8 doesnt cut it for me though lol...a mustang without a v8 is a fake muscle car hahaha
i think bill cosby only test drove it. he got too scared when he nearly died and returned it. then, from wut i remember, another guy tested it and they found him and the car at the bottom of the ocean as he accidentally skidded off a cliff. then i think they restored the car and its now in a museum...dont quote me on all that though...
yeah right, prove it, if you can spend that sort of money you can sure as hell pay a camcorder or something! PROVE IT!!! NOOB!! ill bet ya 100$ you dont have one!
The car is a Shelby GT500E, built by Unique Performance in Texas under license from Shelby American. The cars are Mustangs that have been completely rebuilt, modified and retagged, making them "official" Shelbys. Carroll Shelby signs the dashboard of each one built. They are styled after "Eleanor" from the remake of "Gone In 60 Seconds"... hence the "E" in "GT500E".
The GT500E comes in three power levels: "Base" (fuel injected 302 small block with 325 hp), "Performance" (either a 408 Windsor stroker small block with 475 hp or a fuel injected aluminum 427 Windsor stroker with 575 hp), and "Super Snake" (aluminum 427 "FE" big block, naturally aspirated with 525 hp or Vortech supercharged with 725 hp). Only 75 Super Snakes were built, apparently. All are on Unique Performance's web site.
theres actually only one ORIGINAL supersnake. its worth about 3 million dollars and its currently in a museum. however lots of people will send there shelby GT500's in to be converted to a super snake. there basically the same car, but technically theyre all clones. that being said id still give my right nut and a kidney to have one.
I presume you mean the original Super Snake Cobra (not the GT500) that was built in 1966 and was recently purchased through Barrett-Jackson by Carroll Shelby's friend Ron Pratte (he paid a cool $5,000,000). I was referring to the Super Snake based on the GT500E which is basically a new car built off of a '67 body. Unique Performance does the work and sells the cars under license from Shelby.
Oh, and you're right - there is one original GT500 Super Snake too, it sold on eBay last month for $3,000,000. It has a naturally aspirated 427 with about 520 hp, unlike the Cobra Super Snake which is twin supercharged and has 750-800 hp (and an automatic trans).
Here's some trivia: a second Cobra Super Snake was built for Bill Cosby but he got rid of it because it was too powerful. One of his old stand-up routines includes a monologue about the day he gets the car - it's pretty funny.
not anymore... Unique performance was shut down in 2005 for title washing, another words they were buying salvage fastbacks and changing the vin numbers..i found out that every mustang that was currently being restored was actioned with all the machinery in their shop... Carol himself pulled the Shelby license that same day..
if the yanks have done anything right or made a decent contribution to the world... its car designing like this... shame all this amaizing design has come to and end.. and cars are now being made out of cans of beer :(
A $12,000 original by-the-book and traceable '500? No. And only one Supersnake? No. The Supersnake is a line built specifically off a the mid-late '60's original Ford fastback. I'd bet on a (obviously) mega-cam'd up 351 or 347 build in that, a little too small to be the 427 block.
I belive it is from that company in texas that makes the ones from gone in 60 sec. out of regular 67 mustangs. they are like saleen and roush in the fact that they get to retag the cars. they have 3 different power classes and i think this might be the 2nd on if not the first.
Are those straight pipes? it sounds just like the gone in 60 seconds one. I love how it sounds like it is going to stall in idle then it rawrs to life
It appears to be a 351 based block. With a ridiculous cam. The FE big block, to the contrary, rev very high, to the tune of 7000rpm. The bottom end is bulletproof. When my father took me for a ride our '68 428, it did 70 mph in 1st (7200 rpm), and 105mph in 2nd. After that, you replace several broken pushrods. Cool clip, sounds Goooooood.
God, the revs made me catch my breath. And, no, doesn't look like a big block because it actually has a little room between the non-428/427 valve covers and the shock towers. Could be an FE block (more of a mid-sized casting), who knows, or a Cleveland, which has a very cool, very unique sound. Unlike the raspy sounding revs of a big block. Mufflers can change the sound in a big way, though, so who can say for sure.
lol b4 gone in 60 seconds came out you could pick up a genuine gt500 for 12 grand!! now ppl spend like 100 grand on a fake!! there is only 1 real supersnake its got the cobra 427 innit and does 170 mph
i bet its has got a 427 widsor with very lumpy cam it looks like a windsor but to be honest yes i would say no id rather have the 67 fastback :) i prefer the rear lights
No, ony one supersnake was made...It's a ligit car on it was White with Blue thin-wide-thin stripes. Also even if that was a recreation of a supersnake it would have the alluminum 427 big block, this car has the 475hp 351 (looks like it then. Could be a 302
Not an original 1967 Gt 500..looks just like a phoney movie copy..just a reworked 67 fastback...nothing on the car looks original..check out your serial number with the Shelby American Club if you think it was a 1967 Gt 500 ....I think not and I have owned a couple of Shelby GT 500 Mustangs. At any rate the original has been destroyed by all the new crap on the car.
They come made from real 67-8 mustang fastbacks. There are places that re-create them but the company that makes the "official" GT500E is signed and numbered by Mr. Shelby
what kind of flasher did you use for the rear lights?
