  • What I love about your interpretation of this gorgeous piece, Madeline, is your stretchy pauses. During those poses, time stops, and I feel incredible beautifull energy flowing through my body. Whenever I listen to another interpretation, I miss those pauses now, the music feels rushed, and flat.

I read your book. This approach to piano playing is what I've always longed for. It has reignited my passion for piano. Allowing pauses has transformed my playing.

Thank you, you are so inspiring.

  • I think this is a supreme use of your torso to transfer the required weight onto the tip of your fingers......... never seen anything close to this kind of perfect use of internal delivery of power from the ground up. Bravo. Arrau will be happy.

  • beautiful

  • Hi Madeline, I just wanted to say thank you for your book, it has brought me an immeasurable amount of peace, not only with my playing, but in my life as well. I can not repay the debt I owe you for your book, so a thank you from Australia will have to suffice for now. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.

  • @chamone28 Thank you so much. I'm very touched that the book has helped you so much. When I was writing it I dreamed of such responses. Best wishes for a great life with music and in general.

  • I love this interpretation! I actually took lessons when I was younger but then quit my first year of high school. Now in my Senior year of high school I'm back into playing again and I'm taking lessons from Timothy Mueller who showed me your book and it's really helped so far. Indeed, because of your book and Tim's instruction, I feel as though I'm much more efficient physically when I play!

  • Certainly it is the best interpretation I´ve heard.....Medeline, I love your fingers!!!

  • Beautiful. I learned this piece and played it well. But after reading your book and I now have a better understanding of what musical expression is Thank You Mrs Bruser!!

  • :-)

  • I greatly appreciate this performance...I've tried applying meditation and balanced posture, but it somehow feels contrived to me. There are Horowitz and Rubinstein who went into very still and quiet places while playing, but did they try to do that, or did it come naturally to them? When I play like that it feels like I'm constricting myself somehow. Perhaps I haven't reached the level that Ms. Bruser has and for her this posture and "stillness" isn't trying but natural.

  • This is an amazing rendering of Chopin's Fantaisie Impromptu! Your tone is rich and nuanced and your melodic line seems both deeply felt and well thought out. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity in this masterpiece!

  • Amazingly graceful! Stunningly beautiful. Effortless would be an understatement. I can't wait to see more. I've picked up the Saxophone recently after a 20 year hiatus and now have joined an ensemble. Your advice in your book has been a god send! It seems as though everything you say was written specifically for me. I only wish I had picked up The art of Practicing sooner.

  • @BadBADdAd99

Thank you very much. I'm glad you appreciate the performance and that the book has been so helpful to you,

    Best wishes,

    Madeline Bruser

  • ...there's no effort in your fingers, no strain, no constrictrion... they dance on the keyboard... amazing! i've been playing the piano since i was 6 (now i'm 24). i'm reading your book and using it to practice classical guitar. you're amazing...

  • Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it and that you're finding the book helpful. I wish you great rewards with the guitar.

  • You played beautifully. My only problem was how bored you looked playing this amazingly beautiful piece. I think I would have enjoyed it more not looking at you. Sorry. (A smile couldn't hurt, could it?

  • What you perceive as a bored expression I perceive as one of internal peace. She seems to be in an almost meditative state throughout and we all know that when we are most in touch with our musical being, this is where we are.

It is a wonderful experience to see someone relax so completely while playing as complex an instrument as the piano and as complex a piece such as this.

  • Madeline. That was incredible. I am reading your book as I type this and hearing you play has made it exponentially more enjoyable. I've been playing drums for ten years and just started piano last year and your book has massively improved my practicing already. I am planning on going to music school for percussion primarily and I certainly don't have a classical focus piano-wise but your book has inspired me to become a legit pianist someday no matter what. Thank you for your ideas!
