  • God-lovers are so fucking retarded.

  • without "under GOD" it lacks something great ... GOD. to me "GOD" adds "greatness" to our pledge! It will always be "under God" to me...

  • Why is this Australian concerned with America's Constitution and our pledge of allegiance? Lol

  • The original pledge written by Francis Bellamy actually began with "I pledge allegiance to my flag." The phrase, "the flag of the United States of America," was added by the National Flag Conference in 1924 (over Bellamy's protest).

  • should be "one nation, under sky... LOL

  • I had a "discussion" with my Tea Party PATRIOT neighbor who hates government giveaways (except when Bush gave everybody $250, which was GENIUS, or his Social Security check) and socialized medicine (except his Medicare) about this very topic. When I dug out two different references showing "under god" was a cynical addition in response to McCarthyism, he went on a rant about US DAMNED REVISIONISTS! Funniest, yet most fucktarded thing since...Michelle Bachmann opened her mouth and said anything!

  • Today Born Again Pagans are now standing up for their Free Secular Government which stands above Religious Theocracy: A true American will never be forced to bow down to a dead Middle Eastern man who has been Elected to be our New God!

  • Thanks askegg.

  • That awkward moment when porky pig knows the pledge of allegiance better than we do,, lol

  • Please join me in support of the First Amendment-

I mark out, with a black sharpie, the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" on ALL the money that goes through my hands.

    I hope you will too,

  • @OutlawYank Learn your own history, douchbag. This is how the pledge was before McCarthy was terrified of the Communists and slapped god all over the place.

  • @OutlawYank Who says I am putting your history down? I am just communicating what actually happened. Sorry you don't like it.

  • @askegg Yeah - 'lean' your own history instead of trying to put down on our history (of dogmatic religious brainwashing, blind patriotism, and a disgraceful lack of education). The truth hurts, especially for those who are too inept to grasp it.

  • @OutlawYank I own a pack of dollars that do NOT have "in God we trust" as your country was founded upon the principle of separation of church and state. Politics is about democracy, religion is a tyranny They are incompatible with each other and America's founding fathers understood that. It's a shame todays Americans fail to understand that simple fact.

  • @OutlawYank Seeing you are to lazy to educate yourself:

On July 11, 1954, just one month after the phrase "under God" was incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance, the U.S. Congress enacted Public Law 84-140, which required the motto on all coins and currency. The law was approved by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, and the motto was progressively added to paper money over a period from 1957 to 1966.

  • @puckman ;)

  • @OutlawYank You're an idiot

  • @OutlawYank Well, I'm an american, and can honestly say that I'm embarrassed to think you and I live on the same land. Please learn your history, OutlawYank. And take the stick up your ass when someone correctly calls you out on your ignorance.

  • @eddygoombah Cool story. Have fun with your little opinions

  • @OutlawYank Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @OutlawYank That's it? That's your response? Instead of actually looking anything up, or doing any research to actually find out if the pledge added "under god" in 1954, you just threaten people's lives and insult them... hmmm... way to go. How very christian.

  • @eddygoombah Where did I threaten you or anyone else?? I just find it amusing that you're in your 40's and looking up Porky Pig videos. Haha.

  • @OutlawYank I LOVE watching cartoons and I'm 40... In this case it was a video that was recommended by YouTube. I'm guessing because I watch many videos about religion.

  • @OutlawYank full of Christian love I see...

  • @OutlawYank, you sound like a typical Christian, violent and ignorant.

  • Comment removed

  • @judoyodan Atleast I'm not a stupid liberal

  • @OutlawYank Worse, you're a stupid conservative! :)

  • @LoK3y Buy your own insurnace you stupid, drug addicted welfare leech.

  • @OutlawYank Bahahaha! Well, at least you don't bother thinking...now if only we can get you to not vote.

  • @OutlawYank, well, you're half right.

  • @OutlawYank Should have been shot dead? For what? For not being able to see into the future and not knowing to add "under God" into the pledge in this cartoon 15 years before it was added to the real pledge. For not knowing that reproducing the pledge as it was at the time would anger some ignorant moron more than 70 years later? I hope you're never placed in a position of power.

  • @benjaminpyke With Rick Perry around it wouldn't be a miracle.

  • @offwithurhead I know. SCARY SHIT!!!

  • @OutlawYank Here is the pledge, as it was written in August of 1892 by Francis Bellamy:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

The words "under god" were not added until 1954.

askegg was giving you correct information which you have misinterpreted as "to put Americans down on our history." But you obviously do not know this history... If you call yourself an American, you should learn about America.

  • Does anybody know what the background music is during the suspense breaks?

  • @LordoftheJimmy Yes - various suspense chords from Apple's library.

  • They should remove the "under god" part. Especially after they told people they can't say Merry Christmas anymore during the holidays.

  • I have many proof that God exist but here's a porky cartoon to try and get a point across that he doesn't??? LMBO!!!!!

  • @BigKTube

"Under God" was added in 1954 and the cartoon is from 1939. Its not a matter of the writers not accepting your god but of the cartoon pre-dating the revision.

  • @BigKTube Oh ok.

  • Claiming that a nation is under God is the oldest form of propaganda ever done by a government. Also, no other country makes such a big deal about an oath of loyalty. Making our kids say this before class is practically brainwashing. And plus, if God existed, America would NOT be his nation. Look at all of the corruption and war involved in American politics. Why would a god support that? We only have "under God" in the pledge because some are arrogant and feel a need to be superior to others.

  • @Drgamedood

The Declaration of Independence was a document with its basis in Protestant Christianity. The Constitution was founded on the basis of separation of church and state. Some of the Founding Fathers were Christians; but not all. The original Pilgrims, that first settled in this land WERE. (See past comments to 'askegg'). But this is an interesting document. I never knew that the Tripoli Pirates were MUSLIMS! Article 11 sounds just like a not-so-recent speech from Barack Obama!

  • I am just confused on all of this...???????

  • @jackson3rdhotmail, the words "under God" were not added to the Pledge until 1954. Between the time it was written originally in 1892 and the 1954 revision, the Pledge was revised twice. Francis Bellamy, the man who wrote the Pledge, was both a Baptist minister and a Socialist. He didn't think that any reference to God should've been made in the Pledge, considering that women and blacks were still treated as second-class citizens.

  • what happened to separation of church and state? people wonder why i sit during the pledge in school.

  • I fail to see why people get so worked up about this particular subject. Yes the pledge of allegiance was changed, but that doesn't mean that you have to say it in that particular manner. If you are not of a Christian (or other monotheistic) religion, then continue to say, "with liberty," instead of, "under God." Why get mad at past events and history books such as the moral basis of the country when you can move on with your own concerns and refrain from making others angry? Just my thoughts.

  • Mr the craft needs to die.

  • no person is below others, except those at lesser altitude

(closer to the center of a planet).

no person may be forced to pray to others or for others,

    including coerced attendance (abduction),

    forced mimicked gestures,

    forced "swearing of oaths"

illegal restriction of access to migration, services, & resources, i.e. "public office"). - james dennis mcashan

  • people may say anything, if it does not cause violence. people may not be violent in reaction either. protections for every individual person are established to guard against evil. persons may practice any religion if it is peaceful. standards of safe action may protect all people including children from attack, abduction, abuse, denial of support, or exposure to dangerous activity, including public sex. - james dennis mcashan for the Congress of the United States of America.
  • Better example of proving America as being founded on Christian beliefs would be to reference the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution.

  • @CAUGHTUPALIVE1 Vague references to a "creator" are a long way off any individual set of beliefs such as Christianity. In any case, which version of Christianity would you be talking about? It seems there are almost as many as there are permutations as theoretically possible, and they all claim to be the one true version.

  • @askegg Tell that to the founding fathers;

descended from the Pilgrims :PROTESTANT SEPARATISTS fleeing persecution from the Roman Catholic Church. (Church of England who was making war on them was RC.) You can easily Google the DOI and read for yourself.

  • @CAUGHTUPALIVE1 It doesn't matter. What they wrote into LAW was the separation of church as state. They had the chance to record Jesus was the spiritual guide of America, yet they did not. Ask yourself "why?"

  • @askegg No, they wrote

    Separation of church AND state.

Because the State they left was one that ONLY RECOGNIZED the Roman Catholic Institution as the accepted form of Religion AND Government, and those who left it were being slaughtered as HERETICS by the same.

This was written to protect FREEDOM OF RELIGION.

The POA was not authored at the same time as the founding of America, neither does the lack of 'under God' prove that the founding fathers were not Christians.

    WHY? Contradicts BOR

  • @CAUGHTUPALIVE1 Excuse my misspelling - yes, church and state.

Indeed - freedom of religion. Freedom to choice which every religion, denomination, sect, or cult you like. Even freedom to reject them all. The Government is bound the remain neutral on matters of faith, just the way it should be.

  • @CAUGHTUPALIVE1 you've obviously never heard of the treaty of tripoli.

  • @Drgamedood Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

  • "Where is God?" God does not exist.

  • As no doubt many have already pointed out; Under God was not added until 1954 and the cartoon predates that date by a wide margin. Some people find a conspiracy around ever corner.

  • As no doubt many ahve already pointed out; Under God was not added until 1954 and the cartoon predates that date by a wide margin. Some people find a conspiracy around ever corner.

  • that dramatic music is hilarious. The term "under god" wasn't added until the 1950's and even then only because Eisenhauer put it in to combat the perceived "godlessness" of Communists.

  • ugh... bible bumpers...

  • You dumbasses. The "under god" wasn't added until 1953 - this video is from 1939.

  • THEY DONT PUT GOD IN THERE BECAUSE NOT EVERYUONE BELIVES IN GOD!! you are the most ignorant person... you need to think about it a sec befor you go out and hate you troll!.

  • @shmoyogo "God"? Which one? Yahweh? Brahma? Vishnu? Allah? Xenu? Of course, there are also deists who do not share your interventionist views of god (like the founding fathers), and then there are the atheists who simply don't accept your god claims as true.

How about you think about that for a second?

  • @askegg it doesnt matter witch god... just because you dont accept our claims doesnt mean you need to discriminate. your hurting people by saying these things. when there is absalutly no fully explained reason for your descrimination and abuse. (sorry if my spelling is sloppy, i wrote this at midnight and i dint want to wake my wife with loud clicking sounds on the keyboard)

  • @askegg i respect all for who they are, not for what they believe in, and for most athiests, they dont descriminate, so why would you? i acualy live next to 3 lovely people, they are kind, helpfull, giving.. and did i metion that they are athiests? guess what! they have no religouse ties saying to do that when someone is in need. and it is hard to respect you for who you are with out punching you in the mouth. (again forgive me for my spelling, but i have to keep quite or i might wake my wife)

  • @shmoyogo Thank you for proving my point.

Has it ever occurred to you that a statement such as "one nation under god" actually discriminates against your lovely neighbours? Are they not also fine citizens of the country? While I appreciate you have a belief in "god" (regardless of which one) there are many American who do not. "One nation under god" excludes them from being part of the fabric of the USA.

    Think about it.

  • @askegg Has it ever occurred to you that our nation was founded on Christianity??? If not then actually LEARN about your country!!!! Plus then your not a true American!!!! Why did our very fist settlers haunt down so called witches like in Salem witch trials??? We are better now then back then but the pledge WAS based upon our FOUNDATION!!!!!!! I respect all beliefs but i disrespect anyone who tarnishes our pledge and our NATIONS HISTORY!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

  • @TheJohnwayne2010 Really? Seems strange the founders forgot to put this in the Constitution. How very odd. In fact, they ensured a separation of church and state and are quoted as wanting a wall between them.

Are you arguing the founders were good Christians because they hunted and killed witches. Weird.

"In God we trust" was added in 1954. Look it up. How is that "founded on Christianity"?

Oh, and I'm not American. Dumbass.

  • @shmoyogo THEY DID'NT PUT "UNDER GOD" IN THE PLEDGE UNTIL THE EARLY 50'S YOU DUMBASS.

  • @shmoyogo THEY DID'NT PUT "UNDER GOD" IN THE PLEDGE UNTIL THE EARLY 50'S YOU DUMBASS.

UNDER GOD IS NOT UNCONSTITUTIONAL THE CONSTITUTION WAS WRITTEN WITH GOD IN MIND YOU DUMBASS.

  • @CodyWestLovesOlivia It was? What is the first ammendment?

  • Hey Butthead, they should call this The Gloryhole Hangouts for faggots who

can't accept God. Keep up the fudgepacking pervert...

  • @bpkeane1 Blocked.

  • The point that should be understood is We americans shouldn't be taking this

great country for granted. I have witnessed idiots who sit down and keep silent

when the pledge of alligiance is being recited. When did this country fail to remember its great leaders now bowing down to the idiots who feel this recital

is unconstitutional. To the liberals who read this there is one thing to remember.

There are NO Atheist in Foxholes!!...

  • @bpkeane1 "Thou shall make no law regarding the establishment of a religion". maaf dot info

  • @bpkeane1 So they're idiots because they understand that this country isn't Under One God? Because although the Pledge says "With Liberty and Justice for All", gays still don't have marriage?

The Founding Fathers would never have stood behind Under God in the Constitution. You know how I know that? First Ammendment.

What does atheists in the army have to do with anything? And actually, if you weren't extremely ignorant and made blanket statements, you could Google it and find the MAAF.

  • Amazing how many people are angry about this. It is just proof that under god was not originally in the pledge nor should it have been added on a congressional mandate.

  • Why does this even matter?

  • Wow what a fail this video is. This cartoon was made BEFORE "under God" was added to the pledge. Now PLEASE stop freakng out over a 71 year old cartoon.

  • @Uncutcartoons247 That's the entire point - it completely undermines the Religious right's claim that America was founded on Christian values.

  • @askegg well there's also all the quotes from the founding fathers of America where they basically all say they aren't christian and in some cases they even make fun of christianity. The only problem with that as well as this cartoon is that the Right-wingers will ignore it just like this uncutcartoons guy just did. Nowadays religion is used as a means of power, they don't want to give it up.

  • @askegg Lol. Indeed.

  • @askegg: HaHa! I think Uncutcartoon's point was that, "This cartoon was made BEFORE 'under god' was added to the pledge", so it doesn't really count. LoL, if the bible-thumpers had things their way, our history books would be covered in White Out, well, that is everything except for "under god"...

  • @tiestoboi

    Idiot.

  • @tiestoboi Just like Texas tried to do with school history books by removing Thomas Jefferson?

  • hahaha !!! YOU "ILLITERATE" AMERICANS. THIS IS "NOT" REALITY, WAKE UP !! FURTHERMORE, THE ANIMATED CHARACTER IS PLEDGING ALLEGIANCE TO THE "FLIG", SO IF YOU'D ALL SLOW YOUR POINTING FINGERS DOWN A BIT AND "LURN TWO REED" YOU'D HAVE CAUGHT THAT MAJOR INTENTIONAL GAFFE !!! YA BONEHEADS !!! STOP YOUR WHINING AND ACCUSING AND HORSE CRAP !!! YOU AMERICANS WILL BE THE 1st NATION TO PERISH WHEN THE STUFF HITS THE FAN, SO GOOD LUCK :)

  • @BMSMUSIC That's a pretty big sweeping statement.

  • @Singpraise11 It amazes me that an animated pig knows more about the Pledge of Allegiance than many Americans.

  • who care about God, God is the reason that mess up everyone life right now. If there is God, then y r there so many sufferings in life. If God is so powerful, then make all the sufferings stop. I guess God is not powerful or God like to playing fool with Mankind lol

  • We had just won a war against nazism and were engaged in a titanic struggle with communism, both totalitarian ideologies that claimed there was no higher power than the state. "Under God" was added to the pledge in 1954 as a statement that we owed our freedom and loyalty to something greater than the state. No matter how you feel, it was added by an act of Congress, hardly an act of deceit.

  • @jpb252 I never suggested it was an ac of deceit, but it is certainly against the Constitution - something which all public servants, politicians, Senators, and Presidents are sworn to uphold.

  • @askegg Your description of the video specifically states "under God" was added "deceitfully" in 1954. Whether this rather innocuous phrase is an establishment of religion (other than clearly not atheism, the question remains, which religion?) and violates the Constitution is another question. So far the courts have held that it doesn't.

  • @jpb252 "Gott Mit Uns" anyone?

  • @Hairysteed "Gott mit Uns" on the regular German military (Wehrmacht) belt buckles was ironic considering that the nazis demanded all loyalaty to the state, but it was their sop to traditional German loyalties. The nazis themselves and their private military (Waffen SS) had no acknowledgement of any power greater than the state (they merged party with state as did the communists) on any of their regalia.

  • @jpb252

Wrong. The Nazis were mostly Catholic, obsessively so. If you read Mein Kamph, you will find that Hitler and his regime supported the elimination of secular schools, allowing ONLY Christian/Catholic schools to exist.

It was mostly about the Communists, as you said, but Nazis had nothing to do with it.

  • @jpb252 As one of many Native Born Americans, I am not comfortable with being asked to give Credit for ANYTHING to a Deity that I do not believe in. There is nothing distinctly American about believing in the Judeo-Christian Deity known as "God."

  • @bestgodzillaman Since when is a generic reference to 'God' Judeo-Christian? You could be referring to Allah, Vishnu or the Great Spirit. Adding 'under God' to the pledge was done as a political statement that there is something higher than the state. Both Nazis & Communists claimed that the state is supreme. If you don't like it, don't repeat the words, but don't pretend it's something that it's not.

  • @jpb252 Ok, lets for one moment accept your statement as correct, it still advocates monotheism rather than pantheism or atheism, so is therefore excluding people. It is unconstitutional.

How about we change it to "One Nation, not under any Imaginary gods"?

Or we could just meet halfway and scrap any reference to god or gods at all.

  • @neilswann80 It would only be unconstitutional if it was an establishment of religion, which it clearly isn't. Just because a government statement isn't all inclusive by your standards or offends you doesn't make it unconstitutional. BTW, the courts have upheld it, so if you don't like it, just don't say the words, that's your constitutional right.

  • @jpb252 It's also silly, as there is zero evidence for gods. It's also arrogantly implying the whole Nation is 'under god'. Maybe we should follow Robin Williams' idea and change it to "One Nation, under Canada". At least it would then be accurate.

  • @jpb252 If it was 'god' rather than 'God' you've have a point. Capitalisation of 'God' clearly points to Christianity.

If it said "one godless nation" instead, would you mind?

  • @neilswann80 Of course I'd mind, but that wouldn't make it unconstitutional. There's no right not to be offended in the constitution and the government says plenty that gets my goat. BTW, last time I checked my catechism the capitalization of the word "god" wasn't mentioned as one of the tenets of Christianity.

  • @jpb252 The word 'god' isn't a name, to capitalize it makes it a name and Christians as far as I know are the only refer to their god by the name God. Christians don't really use Yahweh do they. Christians use God as a proper noun, other religions tend to use it as a common noun, so there appears to be a definite implied Christian bias IMHO.

  • @neilswann80 IMHO you need to get a life and stop whining and complaining about innocuous stuff that offends you. If "under God" in the pledge bothers you so much, write your congressman and try to get it changed instead of making spurious claims that it's unconstitutional. The courts have already ruled that the words do not amount to an establishment of religion. I thought the left was supposed to be tolerant - haha.

  • @jpb252 It doesn't offend me, I just do not think it is right.

Funny that you would accuse me of whining, when in fact I was replying to you 'whining' at someone else. Oh the irony.

    Goodbye and gods bless.

  • @neilswann80 Porky Pig is still my hero!

  • @jpb252 Isn't he everyone's?

  • @neilswann80 If not, he should be. Something we can agree on.

  • @jpb252 And if you look at the people who pushed the change to add 'under God' to the constitution, I think it's quite clear which 'God' they had in mind. Denying this is unconstitutional seems rather dishonest to me.

  • Under God was added in 1953. The Current version of the Pledge is Unconstitutional.

  • In '33 " under God " wasn't yet added ... look it up

  • now it's liberty and justice for only the religious, because religious people are cowards.

  • @mrx0066600 Liberty and justice for the religious, and those who can pay for it. God bless America. :/

This country leaves a revolting taste in my mouth.

  • @ArawnChernobog: 1st off NO ONE was talking 2 u. But, if u are seeking HIM

& HIS knowledge then I'm open 2 talk with u. Until U read "The Bible" for yourself study gain knowledge & true wisdom. Until then I will speak no evil, hear no evil, & see no evil.

  • @ArawnChernobog: 1st off NO one is talking to u & I type like " I" like....not how u want me to type! 2nd off NO ONE is talking 2 u!! Take care now tah, tah!!

  • Porky Pig: The theist nightmare

  • I knew it! The first comments I saw when looking at this video was another pointless bickering -_- honestly you youtubers...

  • Isn't it ironic, "...Indivisible under god." Religion is so divisive that "under god" we ARE divisible.

  • it has no under god in it because walt disney was an athiest

  • @fuzzybunny1717 It's a WARNER BROTHERS CARTOON!! NOT DISNEY...AND THAT IS THE ORIGINAL PLEDGE..."UNDER GOD" WAS ADDED LATER

  • @fuzzybunny1717 This was made in 1939, under god was added in 1954

  • @fuzzybunny1717 repeat with me: "God bless ignorance"... ... ...good boy!

  • @fuzzybunny1717 You are ignorant. It is warner bros that made the looney toons. And under god was added in 1954.

  • @fuzzybunny1717 How do you know Disney was an atheist...? Also, Porky Pig is a product of Warner Brothers, not Disney. And "under God" was added to the pledge in 54 during the Cold War and stuff. At least, I think that's part of the reason so someone correct me if I'm wrong. =) But, yeah, this cartoon was made before then. Welcome to reality. =)

  • As far as I know GOD is THEE CREATOR! HE has many names and one HEART!

  • @gyypsyy you don't know very much then.

  • @rockbass I am not going 2 argue with u or anyone else for that matter. I have the right 2 believe in GOD & I do. The planets, & the entire universe R designed the way HE designed it. Why is it that we (earth) r in the correct position not 2 freeze from being too far away from the sun, & we won't burn from being too close. When we sleep at nite who is governing our bodies? R u or the ape,or maybe Darwin making sure we breathe & make it through each nite? Pregnancies who forms life in the wound?

  • @gyypsyy lol. your theology is so kindergarten it's laughable. i'm sorry, i can't even muster a response.

  • @gyypsyy One of his names does not include "The United States of America" or the "Pledge of Allegiance". Just saying.

  • @DarknessOfSanity What???

  • @gyypsyy My GOD is the ALPHA & OMEGA HE is divine, organized & allows the sun 2 shine on the wicked & the righteous!!! It is not about religion its about ur personal relationship with the father he asks 4 nothin but 4 u 2 believe his son JESUS was who he said he was, & did what HE did which was died 4 our sins. If HE doesnt exist then u loose nuffin right? If u dont then u loose your soul.GOD does not force u 2 love HIM,he wants u 2 come 2 HIM on ur own 2 read & study the BIBLE 2 seek HIM out

  • 0:25 pause and read the book.

  • well porky's just a damn socialist atheist aint he? haha jk

  • So much for being founded as one nation under God. Sorry, dominionists. You fail.

  • I wish more Americans thought like you, Thrashaero.

  • Hate to break it to you guys but God is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.

  • @diddymuck Actually a creator is mentioned. Not God. This is also before modern science so your point fails.

  • @diddymuck The Declaration of Ind. is not a governing charter- it is just what it says it is. All the governing charters w/ religious language were before the great success of Jefferson's secular Virginia Const., which became the model for the Fed. Const. for the same reason.

  • so what's your point? The pledge was re-written when popular demand noted the lack of the deity.

  • @diddymuck It was re-written during the Cold War because of a whole fear thing of being un-American and blah blah blah, I don't know the exact details. But it wasn't the "popular demand noting the lack of a deity".

  • @DarknessOfSanity so you don't know the details, eh?

  • @diddymuck The pledge was originally written by a baptist and it has only changed 3 times and it wasn't always your right hand over your heart, but instead something very similar to the Nazi salute. Also popular demand doesn't matter, for the US is a republic not a democracy.

  • disgusting!

  • What a coincidence! I was just looking for this, and typed it into the search bar, and clicked on the first one that came up was from askegg, if only I'd noticed it back when I had first subscribed to you...

  • no dont

  • This flies nicely in the face of all the evangelicals who claim our country was founded as a christian nation. If I remember correctly, "In God We Trust" and "under God" were added to ideologically separate ourselves from communists thought. Correct me if I'm wrong...

  • You're right about the reason that it was added.

There are of course much earlier proofs against the claim that the US was founded as a Christian Nation. See the 1797 "Treaty of Tripoli", which has as the opening words to Article 11: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion ..."

  • @faiserhosen Exactly right and it is even in the wording of the legislation.

  • @gatogreensleeves Then they pull out the old, "It wasn't in the original treaty in Tripoli," bullshit.

  • Love it!

  • Yes, I can see how two words in the pledge of alegiance and four words on the currency can make your life a living hell. Eisenhauer was such a jerk for putting those two words in the pledge of alegiance. Why would we want to pay honor to the God he believed in, after all he only saved us from the Natzis. Thank our lucky stars we've got such good human leaders today who rightly devide the people into neat little ethnic groups. They're so much more trust worthy.

  • @gstewartf - The fact that you do not understand the greater implications of this unfortunate. It is because of those four words that people try to pass religious based legislation. Such laws could interfere with your rights and liberty.

Had Eisenhauer been a Muslim, Hindu, Wiccan or Shintoist, I would not feel obligated to pay tribute to the God(s) he believed in. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

  • @gstewartf You are aware that Nazis and Hitler were theists right? Hitler was Roman Catholic, a few of his speeches thank god for his assistance ands support of the 3rd reich. His book 'Mein Kamf' references god/jesus directly as inspirations for his actions ... to kill 10s of millions of people.

    Please read up about these.

  • I'll salute to that!

  • Why would a country want to become "more religious"?

Havent they realised that religious countries are the worst ones to live under?

  • Yep, this is an example of "shifting baselines." Great post and great added music.

  • This is great! I had a history book of American money and it had pictures of all of the paper bills. One had a silluette of a nake woman and there was no "In god we trust" until recently. I can't remember exactly probably the same time "under god" was thrusted into the pledge. I would love to get the god out of our government.

  • Porky the secularist. I bet he'd be even better with an apple and some apple sauce.

  • Nice, I love it!!! :-)

  • In your face religion!!!

  • That was awesome! Love the music you added.

  • I never knew/cared that they had ever rewritten that pledge of allegiance before. It's never been something that has interested me. Mainly because it's FORCED on children who don't know what they're "promising". But it is nice to be able to have something to say to all the christian people who DEMAND that god be used in their schools.
