Ive been diagnosed with cancer in my right liver and things are not looking good, but im still smiling because i will get to meet my childhood hero Mr.Rogers
Mr. Rogers was the keynote speaker at my son's University graduation. The graduates grew up watching him. They cheered for him. His messages were always so positive, accepting, gentle and wise. He'd never get a TV show today. We're the cheaper and worse for it.
This video was uploaded three days after Jeffrey Erlanger passed away. His appearance on Mr. Rogers was very touching and the memory of that episode still resonates within me to this day. You will both be missed.
@Swatantra100 I actually went to college with Jeff Erlanger in the early 1990s. Much to my sadness, I recently found out that Jeff passed away in 2007. : ( He was a special person, who's cheery personality in spite of his disablity always gave one hope.
Mr.Fred Rogers you have given us all the outlook on life as what you say and show on your airtime shows..Love Kindness and hope..you are in my book the most Loved saint in this entire world.
GOD BLESS YOU FRED ROGERS AND R.I.P YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!.
he wwwaas ( im so sry ok im on my ipod and about to cry ) look at this world its so horbal he was a light in the blanket ok darkness he was a frend and most of all a nabor
@ricosuavable Haha. If you are being serious, I'd just like to say that just because you are a "cage fighter"...it doesn't mean that you can't have and share your emotions. Once heard Mr. Rogers say on the Rosie O'Donnell show, you can find the video on here, that "Tears and sweat often bring out the best in us.".
i used to watch his showe every single day when i was little. he was just so nice and made it feel like he was talking to me through the screen. when i looked up the theme i instantly remembered it and sang every single lyric... RIP
-- Jeff's comment that "Mister Rogers made me feel as if he was talking only to me..." pretty much sums up the magic of the man. He was instrumental to my childhood and I think his show was a fine example of how to bring a positive, uplifting sense of hope into people's lives. I still can remember watching him as a young child, spell-bound by his show. It was not flashy. It was not gimmicky. It was an adult who understood and who cared what it is to be a child in a strange world. God bless him
@cantecleer growing up with a cleft palate was hard. mister rogers was my peace. just the reminder every episode that is okay to be me helped me get through my childhood. i really miss him and sit here with my kids and watch episodes with them
I can't believe Jeff would be 40 --what a legacy he left! He will be remembered by adults and children alike. His family and friends hold him and Mr. Rogers close to their hearts.
Mr. Rogers got me through some tough times when I was growing up. As an adult I have relied on his advice to help me make critical decisions, especially those that might have bearing on others. He was truly a great man and I miss him so much.
I was in a wheel chair a few years before this and they sucked!!! Wheel chairs are allot better now but back then they sucked! The modern power chairs are amazing! But as much as it hurts, walking is nice. I've really been blessed. I remember the 1st time this aired and cried happy tears of understanding. There's nothing like being and feeling understood!!!
Fred Rogers -- one of the best human beings to grace this earth. Love him and miss him. I cried like a baby when he died. Also, I didn't realize Jeff had died as well. God bless them both.
Jeff' would have been 39 on his birthday a couple of weeks ago. We miss him so much - he has been gone for 3 years already though it doesn't seem like it. He would be so proud of his two little nieces. And rooting for the Packers right at this very moment.
Jeff was my co-counselor at an overnight camp in 1993. I brought him into my cabin a couple of times to tell my boys a bedtime story. I just found out only yesterday that Jeff had died. RIP, Jeff.
@skywatch008 Your damn right about that! The other day I asked my nephews if he wanted to watch Mr. Rogers and he's like, "Who's that?" He's 6 but trust me I'll let him know exactly who he is! God bless Fred. He is truly missed.
Very inspiring, and you gotta love when Jeff and Mr. Rogers sing "It's You I Like" together...may they both RIP, and I'm sure they had a happy reunion up there. :-)
Mr Rogers is one of my heros, the message he brings across has made such an impact on my life on how to love people just the way they are and to try and make people smile and keep them happy everyday of your life.
He was a god, and he will always be remembered as a true hero.
I remember seeing the clip of Jeff and Mister Rogers many years ago - I didn't realise Jeff had died - he was a great campaigner for the rights of the disabled - he will be missed.
Remember when Jeff presented Mr. Rogers w/the Lifetime Achievement Emmy? Afterwards, he declared "it's a beautiful night in THIS neighborhood!"...def a touching moment. :-)
I did not know that Jeff had passed away. How sad. I am so sorry to hear that news. He was a sweet boy and became a good man as you can tell from this clip. I have always remembered him from the show. His visit made an impact on me.
This week I am preaching about loving people just the way they are. I plan to use a picture of Jeff and Fred on the cover. I don't think they will mind, eh?
Does Mr Rogers ever talk about his religion? I know he is a great guy but that isn't enough to make it into heaven. For his sake though I hope he was christian.
Oh my I didn't know Jeff passed away!!! I remember seeing him on a DVD about Mr. Rogers. They showed him when he was a little boy on the show and as an adult at an awards ceremony for Mr. Rogers and Mr. Rogers saw him and right away jumped up on stage!!! I mean literally!!! He didn't look for the stairs, he just jumped up on the stage and was so happy to see Jeff!! Damn I can't believe he's gone too!!! RIP both Jeff and Mr. Rogers!!!
Loved this clip.......especially when he was rolling in his chair with his faithful four-legged companion by his side. Was enough to get me choked up.
I had no idea he passed away. His episode is our favorite, and he was an inspiration to my son, who was trying to get used to his first wheelchair. God bless him, and I hope he's running with Fred in Heaven.
i wish i could have met jeff. he has taught me so much even from just this video- do what you can don't worry about what you can't. what a great example.
Jeff came onto the stage when Fred Rogers was being inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in the 1990s, and Rogers lept out of his chair in the audience and jumped onstage to hug him. It was one of the most genuine reactions I ever saw. May their legacies continue.
that was the beauty of mr rogers message. you can be a guy and have feelings. you can be anyone and have feelings and it's ok and we love you just the way you are. :)
Let us hope that there is someone out there to fill this great void left by their passing. Fred Rogers was a inspiration and role model for many. Jeff's perserverence and bravery in the face of his disabilty will always be remembered.
I just saw that Jeff Erlanger died on June 11 2007, just a few days ago. This is so sad, especially since he and Mr. Rogers became friends and showed the world how we can love everybody. He will truly be missed.
