People don't do their research the TV show is actually less accurate to the source material than this movie. Originally in the radio serial that The Hornet/The Green Hornet the main character WAS named Britt Reid and was a newspaper reporter.
I don't know why everyone is hating on this movie. So it's going to be different than the TV show. The Dark Knight is VERY different from the 60's Batman TV show and it is probably in the Top 20 movies of all time.
And i dont think its the movie itself people are hating its that Rogen seems completely out of place in the in it. i love rogen in knocked up,pineapple express ect, but his rambling style works only for thos certain films, in a action superhero movie,even a comedy one, i dont really think it works, Owen Wilson would have been better imo

Add it up: 3D "conversion" crap plus terrible jcasting = no way I'm spending $13.50 to watch this - this is Hollywood just trying to make money. This movie is an abortion.
It's hard to believe that an annoying and marginally talented actor like Seth Rogen landed the lead role in the Green Hornet. I'm not saying that the GH is as relevant as Batman or Superman. However, I think the character deserves more than this dork, whose only ability is to play himself (i.e. Observe and Report).
This movie is going to suck. Poor casting.. and hardly no one knows of this character. George Clooney would have been great casting. He has that debonair look that Van Williams had. For Kato I would have cast actor Jet Lei and with some CGI to make him look a bit tall. The car looks good but the mounted machine guns No way.... I hope it does well but I smell a stinker

Seth Rogen is the only reason The Green Hornet isn't going to fall completely into pop culture obscurity. He exists in most peoples' minds as piece of television of history featuring a young Bruce Lee. I think any attempt to bring the idea of the character to modern audiences is commendable. Only diehards will care about the details, but most of them won't be satisfied with anything less than the original. Give it a chance.
I'm also pretty sure that Seth Rogen can do no wrong.

I still want to see the movie. Anything new of The Green Hornet is going to e a Godsend. Look how long it took for them to make a movie. I'm also excited over the new GREEN HORNET book by Terry Salomonson, which reveals the entire history of the radio, comic and TV series.

This movie is going to suck. Poor casting.. and hardly no one knows of this character. George Clooney would have been great casting. He has that debonair look that Van Williams had. For Kato I would have cast actor Jet Lei and with some CGI to make him look a bit tall. The car looks good but the mounted machine guns No way.... I hope it does well but I smell a stinker

This movie is gonna be like Rush Hour, comedy and action. It does not suit well w/ the character of The Green Hornet. There is no room for comedy w/ The Green Vigilante and Kato

Seth Rogen is the only reason The Green Hornet isn't going to fall completely into pop culture obscurity. He exists in most peoples' minds as piece of television of history featuring a young Bruce Lee. I think any attempt to bring the idea of the character to modern audiences is commendable. Only diehards will care about the details, but most of them won't be satisfied with anything less than the original. Give it a chance.
I'm also pretty sure that Seth Rogen can do no wrong.

I don't think Seth Rogen is cut to portray The Green Hornet, he does not look the part at all. He might have lost 30 lbs but that is not the issue here. That's called hating my friend, at least in my universe. Regardless of who's playing this role it doesn't change the fact you'll be throwing in the cash to see this movie. Once you manage to fathom that you'll start hoping by some miracle he manages to pull through instead of complaining about him having the role at all. Also, notice I never once said I disagreed with him not fitting the part, I've just acknowledged that being upset about it changes nothing.

It never ceases to amaze me either the complete arrogance or complete stupidity of Hollywood to make a crapfest movie out of a great tv show or book; one example: Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan--a very great tv episode turned into a hack movie--I think the cinematic term is to "shatner" a movie.
This will be as much of an abortion as putting Eminem in the role of Paladin in the talked about movie version of the great series, Have Gun Will Travel.

Well I saw a production pic and Rogen looks quite thin. So that doesn't look like an issue. I just can't make the leap between him him and the green hornet. Clooney, as several people have already suggested, seems a natural choice for this. But maybe Georgie boy remembers the last time he was a superhero in that awful shitty batman flick and has thought better of it...

The more I think about Rogen playing the Green Hornet,the more pissed off I get. I have been watching some of the scenes and the stun double does not look like him at all and, u can tell he is not Rogen,the body silhouette is not even close.
