@Startwl5 you are aware that the Strangers is not soley based on this story right? The director himself said the only thing that is similar is the cabin and them being secluded other than that it's based more on something that happened to him and his sister when they were kids and some other murder cases.
@MrMD23 the said murderers are dead and have been dead ( one of them) for 20+ years and the other about 7, but no one is positive that they were the killers
This is definately one of the most fascinating cases I have ever heard of...it is just as baffling as it is tragic.
I truly hope that this case is eventually solved...I feel terrible for all involved, but I especially feel bad for the daughter who found them the next day, and I also feel bad for the daughter who was kidnapped, and who's skull was found 3 years later...God only knows what she was subjected to before she was murdered...did the killers sexually abuse her? Why take her away?
Hello. I have 10 years experience as a crime scene tech in Baltimore PD. This is my take on the case:
1.This was not a random or planned act. There was no forced entry. This usually indicates that the victims knew the suspects. All of the items used to kill and bound the victims were taken from inside the home.If this was a planned murder the suspects would have brought these things with them.
@Eurotrash4367, I would agree with most of what you said except for the not planned part. Just because the killers didn't bring the tools with them doesn't mean they didn't plan it. It would actually be smarter to rely on what you find there (especially if the killer(s) was familiar with the cabin and knew what would be found there) so that way remnants of what was used at the crime scene can't be found in the killer's car or home. This seems very calculated and planned to me.
2.This incident was done quickly and quietly. This indicates multiple male suspects. It would be difficult for 1 person to capture and bound 3 victims without anyone hearing a struggle. It is likely that there were at least 2 adult male suspects that bound the mother first and then over powered the 2 teens when they arrived.
3.I wouldn't be suprised if this is related to a narcotics deal or debt. It is very similair to the Wonderland Murders that happened a few years later.
@Eurotrash4367, I would also say that narcotics is wild speculation. Sure the Wonderland Murders was about narcotics but it would be an incredible stretch (and simply not true) to say that bound victims means narcotics based motive. A spree killer (lack of forced entry could mean lack of locked doors) or someone with some personal animus or hatred is just as likely as a drug deal gone bad. Particularly here since there is no indication that this family was involved in narcotics distribution.
I live about 5 mins away from the Keddie resort and i was just hearing about a lot of the true story today from some of the people who new the family that died.....
"I know they know who commited these murders"... Who could it be and why doesn't anybody tell who that was if police or anybody has the information or suspects...?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
same with me...everytime i go camping i bring my ak 47 and my 9mm...last time our car was stolen and brought back the next day with all the windows busted and i note in the glove compartment saying "watch out" and knocking on the back door later on that night
The movie the strangers has nothing really to do with the keddie murders. I am on the forums and read about this stuff all over the net. i read the directors comments about this, and its based on just murder in such places (its more loosely related to the manson murders) in the world. It's not based on one particular movie, just about murder in places such as a rural area, or remote place, while ppl are alone or whatever, search the net for the directors comments, and hagd Toadie
Actually it's a movie of mixed events. So we can say that "The Strangers" is 'INSPIRED' by Keddie Murders, Manson Family Murders and so on.... However it's "Based" on any of the excact events. Mostly what's taken from this terrible shocking murders is the end of the movie when these two people - Kristen and James are stabbed till death, everything seemed like a cat and mice game but ended up really really shocking. (however I'm not sure did Kristen really died in the movie she screemed at end)
welll they're gonna make a strangers part 2 and the actress that played kristen is goign to come back in it and this time it's in a trailer park so maybe she did survive
Damn it t "The Strangers 2" will probably suck the big time huh? :) loved the first movie it was something unseen for movie, plus it actually introduced me into the real life events that happened back at the times when I wasn't even born yet. (The Manson Family events... those shocked me just like the Cabin 28....)
i'm gonna see it just to see if i'll get to see they're faces and hopefully they give an accurate reason as to why they did it i mean they said it was cause they were home and probably because there was no one around cause there was no real motive they didn't even take anything i wanna see strangers 2 to find out more about them we never even got a name and i want to know if kristen survived cause the actress who played her is suppose to come back in the 2nd strangers
People are so crazy in this world. I mean the two kids were only 14 and 15 and they brutally beat and stabbed them til death. Then they found the 13 year old sisters head one year later or something like that. Poor people, we can't even imagine that fear and hell they went through that night.
@Dreamydre15 Also, just imagine what the other (living) daughter went through when she walked in the door the next morning and found her mother, brother, and his friend slaughtered in the most gruesome way possible...It probably still haunts her to this day, that she was right next door, 15 feet away, when the murders took place. How sad.
Also the fact that the perpetrator of this dispicable crime has never been brought to justice, is another terrible thing about this whole case.
