  • i like music form the 40's, 50's, and 60's, but the rolling stones are not that good. thumbs up for the beatles.

  • @georgeythebeatlesfan if you do not like the rolling stones why did you click on this video? and do u honestly think people are going to thumbs up your comment saying the rolling stones are bad on a video of a song thats by the rolling stones? have some common sense and the rolling stones are great

  • My opinion: i'm pretty sure it's the studio production recording in the background, the thing that makes it not that obvious is Mick's live singing. Many times you can see Stones doing it that way on TV shows. Look how it sounds exactly like the studio recording, it's identical. Never heard any band to get so close to the studio version with live playing. Besides i can hear 2 electric g. and 1 acoustic guitar. No way Keith could manage that live by himself :)

  • It's a live vocal done to an instrumental with the rest of the band "miming" on their instruments.

  • This is not live; it's lip-synched.

  • Women are crying for real! LOL!

  • It was great then and better now!

  • Probably was truly "live", though this arrangement (barring the obviously 'live' sounding vocal and xylophone) does sound remarkably like the record.

From wikipedia: "Initially, Ready Steady Go! artists mimed to records but by late 1964 some performed live and the show switched to all-live performances in April 1965."

  • LEGEND

  • Zudem. Manne

  • Mick is a poet who can convey the truth like nobody else! Long live the Stones.

  • everybody is so bad at singing now that my brain automatically thinks hes lip synching because his voice cant sound that good. but then i remember its mick lol

  • My view on the song as a teenage girl is: I think he's talking about women who are into him now, but turned him down before he was famous. One interpretation I guess.

  • @YelenaRoX

thats not an interpretation, he literally says that. very insightful though. :D

  • @r0llskyay0 oh i know lots of creative licence ;)

  • One of my favorite 'Stones songs-- video made a year before I was born! Yes, I'm old! My mother hated this song-degrading to women-but I look to the music-fantastic song-always love Mick & the boys!

  • Ah, good to find this on YouTube. I've got a copy of the performance on a Ready Steady Go VHS tape that was issued in the 1980s. I bought it at the Cavern on Carnaby Street around 1988/89 IIRC.

  • the only band that could make the xylophone sound cool.

  • The tea party, hosted by Prime Minister David Cameron at the Swiss resort, is designed to showcase British talent.

Sir Mick said he would now cut short his visit to Davos citing "innaccurate" comments on his political allegiances.

He said he had "eschewed party politics" during his career

    TOP MAN MICK!!! MUCH LOVE!!!

  • This is how i interpret the song, "Under My thumb, the girl who once had me down, the girl who pushed me around, its down to me." = he let some woman walk all over him and take advantage of him, and he realized he is the only one that can change it , and did .

" The way she talks when shes spoken to, down to me." He has made there efforts to communicate stronger with each other by implementing rules of conversation.

  • @Aneximus The line "shes a squirmy dog who just had her day" is a reference to the greatest song ever. The 2 Live crew line "I'm like a dog in heat, a freak without warning. I have an appetite for sex 'cause me so horny." It explains that Mick Jagger shagged her proper like and now she walk bow legged. I say kudo's to Mick, jolly good show.

  • It's so degrading to women, this video really I mean considering what he's saying and their reaction! It's unbelievable.

  • I love seeing girls frantic falling all over themselves for boys

  • What is Mick really saying????? I know "under my thumb" but is he saying basically I have control of the person I love in a good way or is it possible that I could like the words even if I am thinking ............................Her eyes are kept to herself meaning???? Can't look or don't you dare?????? curious to have some males opinion of the lyrics here!!! Thanks

  • @1blondelioness Male , 34 here . I think the song is a generalization on how woman see famous rock males. The line ,"Under my thumb her eyes are kept to her self, but i can still look at some one else " Her may equal ,all women . Meaning is some way , when he is on stage performing , all eyes are on him, but he can see a sea of woman.

that's how i sort of interpret each line. some are more obviously about when girls didn't find him attractive too , an how easy now they he can get them. lol

  • @1blondelioness Nothing curious about it. None of them have the sense of self and cojones to be in an equal relationship, so they think this crap is the 'answer' to a 'pushy' woman, i.e. any woman who dares to have a mind of her own. Sigh.

  • bill Wyman how cool is he under fire! Poker faced and rail thin like a gun slinger !

    Exhasperatingly fantastic.

  • ROFL he is sayin 2 the girl "u r 1nde my thumb"...ajahahahah

  • Excellent, fantastique, formidable, le meilleur du rock... we want stones... we want stones...

    J-M-V

  • i counted 16 audible girl screams.

but i know there's more than that....

  • the wife beater's theme song.

  • fantastick

  • How can people dislike this? What's wrong with you?

  • @daniel4ing Oh, I don't know, maybe objecting to the idea that a woman belongs under a man's thumb (or indeed, vice versa, but at least the powerful forces in society don't assume the latter is a "natural" and desirable state of affairs)? Shocking, I know, how dare I. What's wrong with *you* that you think this a good sentiment?

  • The dislikes on this video were probably feminists who were offended by the lyrics...if you don't like it, don't listen!

  • @kingpleasure LOL!!!

  • That "gotta, gotta, gotta" bit of Mick's at the end is a straight steal from Otis Redding. I loved the Stones, but Otis was a far better singer and dancer by a mile.

  • the stones are so great man.

  • Love you Brian.

  • The Stones at their most quintessential coolest. With Brian in the picture they WERE the Stones.

  • It's cool to watch Brian play the marimba. Quite unusual in rock n roll, it adds the childish touch that always should be in music.

  • great live band

  • the beatles are for granola eaters stones all the way.

  • @zackdevan the stones are way cooler then the beats.

  • Beatles are way better

  • I love this song!!!! The stones look so Confident and Cool!!! Mick can dance and sing and drive the women crazy. The way Mick danced as he got older was not all that great but the confidence he has always made it work and for me I think the early songs by the Stones are the best.

  • Michael jackson is a Mick Jagger wannabee haha

  • R.I.P Brian Jones.. :(

Yes, MICK AND THE BOYS WERE TRUE ROCK N ROLL!

  • Hey guys, let's not forget the man who pulled the Stones all together in the beginning!

    R.I.P Ian Stewart

  • r.i.p Brian Jones.

  • Man, I sorta like the way Jagger struts.

  • MICK JAGGER STUTTING HIS BRILLIANT " UNDER MY THUMB" PERFORMANCE !!!

  • *abspritz*

  • Im telling you, and I dont care what you think, without Brian Jones or Mick Taylor, TheRollingStones just arnt able to put anything over.

  • The rifs at the end have influenced Midnight Rambler have they noy. You musicians should be able to clarify that.

  • Thoses guys were REALLY Rock and Roll :D

  • 24 suckahs don't appreciate good music that's why they're under my thumb!

  • Straight up mosh pit goin down in front of the stage. This was fucking 1967 peoples!!!!

  • Brian looks hawtt playing that xylophone.

  • @Celi415 its a marimba. made of wood. xylophone is metal

  • @DBRGroup Ohhh. Thanks man u just saved me from spending the next decade thinking Brian played the xylophones:]

  • sex symbol of 20th centery

  • if you cant tell this is live....you dont listen to the stones enough

  • MICK i want to be your sweetest, hmmmm, PET in the world

  • I would have just DIED if I had been there...

  • this guy runs the show.... i dont care what race or generation you are..... mick jagger will mack on your girl and take her way instantaniously

  • Brian Jones you were one beautiful and talented man R.I.P.

ps you have a nice looking butt in this video

  • Hmmmm....the life of rock stars....

  • Your parents where cooler than you.

  • Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk oh my god SO FUCKING SEXY

  • damn i'd be crying too! he's a sexy beast hehe

  • DAM I'm so growing my hair like Mick Jagger... I drool every time I see it.

  • Great song!!

  • 1:31 it's Jonah Hill!

  • Sorry, but this really can't be called a "live" performance - Mick may actually be singing , but the music is obviously pre-recorded. It even fades at the end! Nice to see them, in any event.

  • 1966 <3<3<3

  • Lame moshpit

  • Under my thumb, the squirming dog's had her day. A bit of a change from I wanna hold your hand. MIck!

  • 0:22 crowd arm holding, precursor to stage diving.

  • wtf 2.09

  • Best look for a Rock Star ever Brian Jones in this video...also for best rock drummer there are quite a few but best Drummer ever Buddy Rich.. Look him up ... Amazing!

  • @MsFitzzzz No question Rich (and others) is a fabulous drummer. But isn't the point of playing the drums ... to make music? If that's the case, then how can one put a (mostly) soloist (?) like the great Buddy Rich over someone that did such a FABULOUS job as Ringo Starr did on a "Day in the Life" or other amazing songs?

I don't get how someone that's super-fast at striking the drums (or guitar strings) counts as "greater" than someone that participates in making totally awesome music.

  • psh i still do heroin to this song

  • its funny that this is what was loud and somewhat vulgar i imagine..back then.. ,. they probably called this sex rock or something. the kinda music all the kids did heroin too and had sodomy or something... hey i really like this song

  • Music: on tape. Mick: live!

  • I love it !!!! It is BEST band R.S. !!!!

  • i watched this on the disney channell 20 years ago. i was 8

  • i watched this on the disney channell 20 years ago.

  • 21 people accidentally clicked the thumbs down.

  • Just as Jimmy Page is Led Zeppelin, Brian Jones is The Rolling Stones

  • @RacerXGTO I couldnt agree more with you!

  • @RacerXGTO bullshit. brian was great as page but both belonged to a band, with more and important members.

  • @ViniciusFiocco Brian used Page in a group to record a movie soundtrack, giving him the idea to form Zep.

  • No one got the moves like jagger

  • Brian Jones -- only he would think to put a marimba in here

  • Brian Jones makes this song go from good to unforgettable

  • @LiraNuna totally, rockin that xylaphone..

  • worse dancer in show biz

  • @xwoolyjumperx If that's a question, then my guess would either be Tina Turner or James Brown.

  • Brian Jones

  • GENIAL

  • omg, fantastic performance.

  • this is my favourite Rolling Stones song <3

  • @lulusapples ME TOO!! A BOYFRIEND DJ FOR WSHE IN SOUTH FLORIDA WOULD PLAY THIS JUST FOR ME ..........AND ALSO DEAR PRUDENCE BY BEATLES. GLAD I WASN'T A DRUGGIE AND STILL LOOK AND FEEL GOOD. GOOD PLASTIC SURGEON HELPS TOO. LOVED MICK FOR SO SO SO LONG. MANY PAINTINGS MADE OF MICK. SCULPTURES TOO. HE WAS SO SEXY TO ME. STILL IS, YET THAT FUCKIN EGO MAKES HIM UGLY. JERRY HALL KNOWS ALL ABOUT THAT ....TALL TELLS. LIKE IN THE FAST LANE. GET ROCKIN TIME THOUGH. SO GLAD THE DRUGS DIDN'T TAKE THEM OR ME

  • @GOLDENFLYWARRIOR I may not know you but i'm happy for you dear :)

  • Look at Brian work that Xylophone!

  • What kind of Marimba is that?!

  • 1:20 Charlie looks fucking munted :)

  • I still haven't decided yet whether or not I want to be a rock star or a porn actor in my next life. However, I've ruled out NFL qb, as who needs the torn knee ligaments?

  • He moves like Jagger! Shame the opening bit of vibes is cut off..

  • After 40 years of marriage, at 89 my grandfather was finally able to sing this truly about his wife , it did help that she was in a casket

  • the only thing rolling stones is good for is they are the longest standing band. but who cares if they suck? maybe the are better than elvis but thats not saying anything. even the beatles were way better. and if you go listen to any sabbath or rush how could you come back here? except to get others out of hell!

  • @MultiRushfan ok what's wrong with you? you like the beatles and black sabbath but not the stones? are you sure you're alright?

  • @MultiRushfan ...I'm sorry but Rush is really bad. If you like that really weird singing style and that prog-rock sound, more power to ya, but please don't make a dick of yourself on a Stones video. I don't understand why folk like you do that, you do know that now someone in the word thinks less of you, right?

  • @xDeadMisfitsx I see where you are coming from, but don't smash Rush. Neil Pert is the greatest drummer ever.

  • @gamecatcher99 *John Bonham is the greatest drummer ever.

  • I had no idea Mic was so young when they recorded their hit songs... His voice is so good

  • This such a mean song if you actually listen to the lyrics. I can't help but liking it though. :)

  • Mick has such beautiful eyes. Glad I was a little girl in this era.

  • Grandma? Is that you about to faint in the audience?

  • @Pinkey626 Hell yes what are you doing "little girl" listening to this kinda music....the new stuff can't beat this!

  • @Sushimytimbits Nooooooo you don't. Mick was quite the uh, womanizer.

  • You are high if you think this was live.

  • @cutlip98 no, this sounds different than the recording

  • @cutlip98 This was obviously live you idiot, it's completely different then the recording. Even the lyrics are different. GTFO

  • mick is so cool

  • i like the beatles but i love led zeppelin and pink floyd so what!

  • It is down to me!

  • I am literally becoming obsessed with Mick.... He is awesome!!!!

There are no amplifiers in the back but Mick's voice sounds live though (it's not always perfect as on studio recordings...)

  • @99Quench glad i'm not the only one who thought he had a nice bum :)

  • Great times.

  • i wish i could have been alive through the 60's

  • If you can't see any amplifiers at the back - it aint live. But who cares, the Voice, the moves, the backing. All fantastic. Brian Jones played some amazing riffs on his guitar in other songs but it was worth seeing him on this - he had such a lovely bum and a very sexy mouth.

  • @99Quench Unless they recorded a different version, this is live.

  • I want to be under mick's thumb.

  • @SushiMyTimbits He's sexy!

  • @SushiMyTimbits you could be under my nuts too if you want

  • @SushiMyTimbits I would like to be under mick's penis if a can

  • Sounds like the vocals were live, but the rest was synced.

  • @tonoguymedia LOL!

  • is it wrong to have a thing for Brian Jones? I so prefer them with him.

  • @annyid8 hell no he is great and they were so much better with him. what a talent

  • "under my thumb.....she does just what's she's told....."yeah,you sing it,Mick

  • The singing sounds live obviously but the background music sounds exactly like the studio recording.

  • Brian Jones was a genius ...

  • @jimmydreaminvain absolutely was...always wonder what direction the Stones would have taken had he not gotten into drugs so deeply

  • it sounds live the way all u hear is screaming and everything syncs together right

  • I just change the word to him/ he/ he's when I sing it.

  • ....she's under my thumb

  • brian playing whack a mole?

  • I love how he moves when he sings!

  • Does anyone know what type of bass Bill is playing?

  • dostoyevsky,your a woman.

  • The Bad Boys at their best! Too muckin fuch!!!!

  • The lyrics of a song, the intended message (if any) and the melody are different aspects that could appeal to a listener. If one had to agree with the words of every song in order to like it, then I wouldn't be able to listen to anything. This song seems to be about playing someone who once had power over you, rather than about men controlling women. Even if I’m wrong, I still like the music.

  • i have it as a ringtone. For women, of course. For some of them. Their list changes quite often though.

  • and that my friends was the first ever mosh pit...haha jk.

  • the responses are quite entertaining. to be blunt this song is not a put down to women its about providing multiple pleasure to his woman, that for awhile anyways is now a bit of a slave to that pleasure provided. back in the sixties mick had his pick and would not have a bad attitude towards women. the girl could be a plant or maybe she is the squirming dog that just had her day.

  • Mick Jagger is the coolest person ever.

  • @Marcobalt And he's BI!!!

  • @ladyfuschia really?

  • @Marcobalt Well, there have been rumors......

  • @ladyfuschia well rumors are just rumors. Theres a rumor that I have a huge cock...and just because thats true doesn't mean all rumors are true. lol

  • Brian Jones was the music head of the Stones. After him they dead creatively

  • Its kinda abit upsetting to see Brian Jones on the Xylophone, he's a fucking guitarist!

  • Human Chain!!!!! xDD

  • Its true women will love you once you man up and be the boss

  • Aftermath, the Stones were writing some really good stuff then but seemed to fall back on R&B soon after....a great pity

  • My mom had all these old cassetes witch I use to steal to record my own music on and only years later, after school, I fell in love with Rolling Stones. If only I knew... and listened before I taped the mindless bullshit on those cessetes that teenagers listen to...

  • only mick jagger voice is live :0

  • It sounds like the studio recording. Great marimbas. Brian, you may have been a fuck-up, but for this one and the guitar on The Last Time, you're my fuck-up.

Not to mention we have the same name...

  • Is Wyman fake playing? It looks alot like it

  • This songs a classic

  • :) love it
