At the end of the day all those people were his coworkers. He probably felt lonely because he couldn't relate to anyone and all they wanted to talk to him about was entertainment related. Everyone saw him as a famous person and not just a person. I think its interesting that out of all the people he knew throughout his life, all the people who called him their friend, he said he probably could only count his true friends on one hand.

@xSilyeah sometimes, it's not lonliness of not having friends, you can be in a room full of people and feel lonely as ever, he had few TRUE friends, and couldn't trust just anybody, when you're Michael Jackson, you can get involved with people who want to take advantage of you ! that's not a true friend, and not many people were genuine.
