  • @71lanlee I am not saying they dictate it I am just saying that it should represent both the French people and the English I like the unofficial bi-lingual national anthem better than the English

  • @MrJero85 I am not saying that we are all bi-lingual I am saying that our country is classified as a bi-lingual country

  • @pally3200 I am from Nova Scotia and my thoughts have not changed no matter whatever people say

  • English French, anglophone francophone what EVER!! Why can't we just be immensely proud of the fact that we are CANADIAN!!!? With what our nation has achieved in out 144 years of history we should just stand up and say to all the world I am CANADIAN and FIERCELY PROUD of it!!!

  • A milestone in Western Canadian history happened recently. Western farmers can now sell their wheat, barley, and durum to whoever they wish!

  • It's a great song, but it's missing the 2nd verse of the original song.

  • you must never sever your links to Britain and the Queen.

  • people would you all shut up the maple leaf is not a symbol of eastern Canada it is a symbol of all of Canada and the maple leaf forever would not be a good anthem because Wolfe was the general of Britain's army who defeated the French an since we are by-lingual it would not represent all of Canada idiots

  • @poisidon99 You are DEFINITELY not from Western Canada. We in Western Canada have a totally different view.

  • @Pally3200 But what's wrong with O Canada?

I mean as someone who is not Canadian my opinion isn't valid, but personally I think that O Canada is the one of the best national anthems... way better than our one anyway!

  • @poisidon99 Yeah a a whopping 122,660 Canadians are Bi-lingual...

  • @poisidon99

Interesting.... the French were a conquered people. Their language & their customs live on through their culture; but, that doesn't give them the right to dictate the terms of our patriotism and the countries to which we show it.

I am French on my mother's side and Irish/Scottish on my father's. The Maple Leaf Forever is a far greater acknowledgement to Canada's history than the 'politically correct" Oh Canada whose lyrics keep changing!

    THE MAPLE LEAF FOREVER!

  • @71lanlee just need to put in the lily into the song. Eh? apparently the writer changed it but sadly we do not have a recording.

  • What is wrong with the :O Canada ' Anthem? it is not Canadian.

  • I love this song far better than "O Canada" as a National Anthem.

  • Beautiful song and video. Thank you and Happy Canada Day July 1st!

  • This always inspires so much pride in me. Unlike the dirge that is played now.

  • @kippaxlads Why do you hate your Anthem so much!?!?!? I've seen comments like this so much, what's wrong with your anthem?

  • I like this very much except for the red and white flag shown at the end. Bring back Canada's real flag!

  • @castroprauxel1 Yes, I forgot about that!! I totally agree, I hate our current flag. I must of forgot!!

  • @Pally3200 why do you hate the new flag when it has a maple leaf, even though you like The Maple Leaf Forever so much?

  • @YukiNekoPrincess Well I like the old flag so much because I feel it represents Canadians more. The current Canadian flag only represents eastern Canada because lots of maple trees grow in eastern Canada, but it doesn't represent western Canada. Only one srubby maple tree grows in western Canada.

  • @Pally3200 What sort of stuff grows in western Canada?

  • @YukiNekoPrincess Well, out on the prairies we don't have many trees - mostly along rivers and in towns and cities and in people's yards. Probably 95% of the land is devoted to farmland, growing such crops as Canola, Beans, and Wheat (although there will be way more Wheat once the Wheat Board dies!)

  • @Pally3200 I see. It would be nice if the western prairies could be represented in the flag as well, but it's kind of hard to draw that kind of stuff on a flag, I think.

  • @Pally3200 But it has a Union Jack on it. I don't hate the British but I honestly don't think that many people in present day Canada would be happy with a Union Jack on their flag especially seeing as we are such a multicultural country.

  • @Pally3200 I also don't think Quebec would be very happy about it either. I myself live in Western Canada but I still prefer this flag.

  • @castroprauxel1 What was Canada's "real flag"? The Union Jack? Because that's all I could find on Google (or is it the St. George Cross?).

  • @james757live Until 1965, when Prime Minister Pearson TOLD the Canadian people that they had a new flag, (the current red maple leaf) the flag was called The Red Ensign. It was modified in 1957 when the Irish Harp that had a nude bust attached to it was removed & the green color of the 3 maple leaves was changed to red. The flag had the Union Jack in the upper left corner & the Coat of Arms of Canada on the right middle side of the red flag. There was a Blue Ensign the Royal Canadian Navy used.

  • @danielroydrawe Thanks. I don't know much about Canada.

  • So much better than the insipid "O Canada".

  • Yeah

  • Canada and the Maple Leaf Forever!
