  • i have the same problem my philips tv lags bat like that and if you play games you cant its too laggy and my other tv lcd led also has no lagg at all and there both at 1080p and philip justs lagg and there no game mode but my other tv has game mode and if i took it off it would lag to :( philips neeeeed game mode!!!!!!

  • @FORR3ALoo

Well I made this video for educational purposes.

Actually I've been using this Philips ever since and I have no problem playing whatsoever.

Just disable Natural motion mate. I also disable every other filter, like sharpness, mpeg artifact reduction etc.

  • The Samsung had better synchronization, less lag, and better picture. Was the Samsung smaller than the Phillips or just far away?

  • The Samsung has less lag, indeed.

You may thing that the Samsung's picture is better because the Philips was working on a non native resolution. There was no other way to do this test, since I needed cloned desktop and one screen works at 1920X1080 (Philips) while the other works at 1680X1050.

The Philips is a 32''HDTV and the Samsung is 22'' monitor!

  • input lag on many flat panel displays are measured in milliseconds... thus making it impossible to actually see it in person. The only way to see if a flat panel has input lag is to do a test on it. These small milliseconds of input lag is enough to effect certain genres, like FPS or Fighting games. These delays can be disastrous during high level play where key press timings are absolutely critical. It can cost you an entire match because your tv took a few milliseconds to receive your input.

  • I've never seen an LCD in person that has a lag... And on a TV if you're not gaming, it wouldn't matter anyway...

  • These lags are measured in milliseconds and are difficult to spot actually. There must be a huge lag in order to see it!

  • The Philips HDTV of course! Don't mind the higher lag. It is inperceivable, but the image quality is leaps and bounds better than any monitor with TN panel.

  • Philips is in game mode ? or not

  • Nope! No need to! The numbers may seem a bit worrying, but i game on it for almost a year now and it is absolutely great!

  • The title should say "Samsung 226BW vs. Philips 9603 32'' input lag slow motion" since the Samsung is the TV on the left side!

  • Correct and done! I just thought that everyone would instantly guess that the 32'' is the large one.

  • lol my samsungs never let me down, plays well on fifa 09 and all. but fuckinhell. lol philshits once again takes the piss. over pricing there so called goods and claiming its a 32 inch. i apologise but it looks more like a 22 inch. ive seen those things in shop, no way they can pass that off as a 32 inch. the philshits (sorry cnt help it) lags like fuckin crazy on the xbox 360

  • You are confused my friend. Not all Samsungs and all Philips are the same. This one is awesome. I use it on PC, not an XBOX and as you know PC games are much much faster. No lag at all.

And yes it is 32''. I've measured it!

  • How many times slowed down is this?

And another question: I am about to buy a tv that has about 60ms input lag (30ms on Game mode or VGA) and my question to you is does the lag really bring your performance down or don't you even notice it when gaming.

  • The video is recorded with an LG Viety @ 120 fps mode. Since the resulting video is recorded at 15fps, i guess we are talking about 8X slow down.

My TV has about 60ms input lag and i never use game mode! You can see all my videos, especially the fast paced ones and you will see that i have no problem playing whatsoever. I would recommend the Left 4 Dead video which is in HD. ;)

  • Thank you thank you :P Really I had so much stress about this issue because I was so afraid of it. But I know better now ;)

  • wow the samsung is totally useless for gaming just like mine

  • Dude, they are both very very capable for gaming. Trust me!

All my videos are recorded from the Philips HDTV which is the slower of the two actually!

  • Ok, have you enabled "game mode" on this LCD?, because enabling it, que lag is around 30ms... so there isn´t lag. Otherwise the lag is around 300-500 ms.

  • No i make custom changes to the screen. I had disabled everything actually.

The lag is very small. I have no problem at all.

Although you may indeed have a point about the "game" setting. To tell you the truth i haven't tried it yet! :P

    This TV rules!

  • yeah, but the 42" with Ambilight spec. 3 is better ;)

  • Possibly! Especially if you mean the 9803 series. The 9603 42'' uses the same panel, so picture wise, it's the same!
