It is agreed that acquiring one image using CR is quicker, but for multiple images, film wins. After the CR image is acquired, then the image on the imaging plate needs to be erased before the cassette is removed. There's more waiting. Meanwhile, the processor could have additional films being processed through the unit. Most automatic processors can deliver 75-100 films per hour. CR can't.
I am a DR user. It useally takes about 3 sec to get a raw image. The amout of time of the entire procedure will be about 1 min becaue the raw image should be manupulated before it is transferred. All I need is to set contrast and density and put a makrting using a mouse.
Technowipe(tm) Lint-Free Wipes are great to use for cleaning film or CR/PACS cassettes along with manufacturer's instructions.

- No chemicals required to process film
- Images can be stored digitally
- CR requires fewer retakes due to under- or over-exposure
- Lower overall dose to the patient
- Images can be enhanced digitally
- Images can be stored on disk or transmitted for off-site review
- CR prices have gone down and it is more affordable every day
So, CR is better than film in every aspect and it Is cheaper considering all the factors...
