You're absolutely right. I should have refined my statement to read "coddling the NRA" and not gun owners, specifically. Gun ownership I understand (i.e. hunting rifles, shotguns, etc.) But assault rifles and fully automatic weapons? They have one intended use: killing people. That is why the gun was invented in the first place. We desperately need to reform our gun laws in this country. And to avoid a primary fight, the republicans refuse to even debate the subject. What a shame.

fully automatic weapons have been illegal for decades. what you call assault weapons are only single shot rifles, the same as a hunting rifle. we dont need to reform gun laws, we need to reform our criminal justice system. there is nothing wrong with the current legal gun ownership in any way, shape or form. our federal govt needs to keep better track of the weapons it sells to the federals in mexico and that would solve a lot of gun violence.

Sure you do. The only one coming up with solutions are the Democrats. Republicans just say NO to everything offering no alternative of their own.
