Alright XOmni, I never really posted a direct comment to what I thought about the situtation between you too. So ya, I've been watching your past videos on this subject, and honestly if you were so lonely about being lonely to the point of crying, I feel really bad for you and this comment(s) has no intentions of making you feel bad or to get you angry.
Alright, so I think it's really cool that you are coming clear about your problems, and that's the best way to deal with them in my opinion. I also think that Father0blivion is being pretty mean about it, and just because you are problem solving in a differen way doesn't mean it's "bad" or annoying, and I don't think that the way that he purposes solving problems works for everyone.
However with that being said, I think he did have a good point. If you really are feeling lonely, I think I am in a somewhat similiar situtation. FO said that one of the best ways to deal with loneliness is to get out and meet people, and I think that's pretty true. I think if you are really pushing people away who like you, then you are feeling lonely about it, you need to change what you are doing.
However I don't want to ignore the fact that if you really do have a deep physcological issue from childhood, then talking about it and thinking about it are proabably the best ways to solve it. However with that being said, I think that if you are lonely, meeting people is a great way to solve this.
Finally, in all honesty making an assumption that you are worrying about this guy or focusing energies toward debating with him, I think that's the wrong thing to do. You need to adress the real problem here, your loneliness, not some guy on Youtube that is honestly an asshole. Focus your energies on solving your loneliness and meeting new people, not on this guy, if you aren't already.
I think that the reason of Father0blivion reaction is because he has problems and if you come up with these kind of videos he may see that he has problems but he probably doesn't want to see them. It really seems not useful at all, is like a way to "protect" himself about thinking his problems.
By the way to me you are not bashing him in any way in this video, you are just making good points.
Read "The Game" by Neil Strauss. It seems like you have social issues, and I don't think any book ever written on social behavior is more important than this book.
A decade or so ago, a group of people gathered to practice techniques to be the ultimate attractive male specimens. What they learned is pretty extraordinary, scientifically valid, and documented in that book. It will expand your mind.
I think the two of you should just sit down and have a cup of tea. Then realize you're both fighting over a fucking video where you put "How Could This Happen to Me" over XOmni talking about having no friends.
Father, leave the parodies to me and abortabraham, we're the EternalUndylngLove of the anarchist community, not you.
XOmniverse, I don't think he was trying to shame you at all. I think he was callin it how he sees it. I could see how you could come off as being smug/arrogant but I don't think you really are.
Seems to me that the anarchist Youtuberz get all butthurt over little things and neither side acknowledges the others' viewpoint. You can acknowledge someone's view and still think they're wrong, but on teh youtubez, just seems like whenever there is ANY disagreement the first thing is"they're against us"
"needlessly" well I dunno. Maybe he felt he needed to do, lol.
And no I really don't think he was shaming you (or if he was, then it wasn't intentional). It's teh internetz. You don't have to interact with him in order for him to make a youtube vid about you. He was just saying you come off as being arrogant...which I would say you did if I had never seen any of your other vids....but i have seen other vids of yours so I don't see you as arrogant, lol.
"teh internetz" is a bullshit excuse. That whole idea that being a piece of shit doesn't count if its on the internet. I've never seen anyone actually defend that position logically; it's just assumed.
Watch his video again (and his new one). He repeatedly mocks me for "whining on the internet." That is 100% trying to make me feel shame for sharing my emotions over the internet.
I wasn't excusing what he did by saying it's the internet...I was saying that being on the internet makes it possible to address someone you don't know. Of course, I do this IRL sometimes if I can't help it, lol.
And yes I've seen his vids, the "whining"wasn't the main issue. His main issue was that he thought you were a "smug asshole" and that's the reason he felt your "whining" was bad. That's how I perceived his vids anyways. He even tried offering a little help in the vid after it.
I don't think he offered any genuine help at all. And I don't think his opinion of me has anything to do with watching my videos; I'm fairly certain its all second-hand information from people who dislike me.
His assessment of me was wrong, his attacks on me were unwarranted, and his goal was to mock and dominate. I have no sympathy for him.
well now that you mention it, since he perceived you as a jerk, he did mock you for that and I that was his goal.
Oh well. I don't see why the youtube anarchists(well, the market anarchists, anarcho-capitalists/agorists, anti-statists) are always at each other's throats since they agree on most things and I don't see where the big squabbles come from other than simply not liking each other. But i guess it seems hard for me to see why they wouldn't get along considering the agreements.
There's no lower form of life, in my opinion, than any man or woman who derives pleasure from the personal pain of others. An amoeba has more integrity than someone like CaptainOblivious.
At first, I was going to defend captain awesome, assuming that you referring. Then I remembered that I haven't watched his vids in forever, more due to not being that interested in Atheism since becoming an anarchist then anything else.
That said, assuming you were refering to CA, not to defend father, while I'd prefer logical arguments, if I was still a homophobic christian piece of shit that I use to be, I'd rather have someone beat me in the head with harsh words than simply leave me alone.
Watched the Father video. I think he has some problems too. He says he wants to knock down people who "think they are better than everyone else" and apparently considers that a noble thing to do. But I don't even know what that means. Better as in more virtous, or more worthy of attention or what?
Why on earth would it bother him that people think they're good? I think that guy has his own problems, just different.
FatherOblivion is one of these guys who are so weak that they have to act tough.
There's lots of that kind of people out there. My rough estimate is that they have had serious negative experiences, and to avoid being reminded of their own vulnerability, they act aggressively when they see someone being open.
Anyone who takes the time to make a video has a lot of emotional motivation.
Check out the psychological defense called reaction formation.
I think people like him are vastly out numbered in the world, and if more people speak honestly and call out people like that jerk, the world will become a better place.
His behavior was quite embarrassing, he comes across as a bit of a goat fucker. You should be proud of yourself, not ashamed. Often we push people away as a way to reject them before they have a chance to reject us because we think if they see any more of us they won't like it and that 'rejection' would be crushing, so we're saving ourselves from being hurt.
sure this guys machismo gets in the way of his empathy and he shames to deny his own death, continuing his repression. everyone represses at a fundamental level because theyre scared, scared to death, of death, although some in healthier more productive mature life affirming ways than others.
-People like you, your young, and now you need love. as cliche as this sounds, perhaps its the truth. Dont let people stop you.
A man is as unhappy as he has convinced himself he is. -Seneca
openning up is obviously psychologically necessary, but most people have a narrow scope of friends to confide in. it works for me. i'm not comfortable being open to just about anybody.
Based on how someone's life experience was (mainly how they were raised) they may prey on those who have opened up. They see that as a weakness, so to speak and attack. People like that keep others from opening up, like you stated. It also is probably what makes that person feel better. They have their own issues but repress them and attack others who admit their own problems.
You are a likable guy. I made a comment on a vidio that I disagreed with I got back " grow up you idiot'. They obviosly did not look at my channel . I sent them one of my vids . I got back an appolage and more insults. no use getting upset if i did they win.
Where you abused has a child? I find many that push people away were and are afraid of being hurt again.
Hang in there and don't let the haters get to you.
Very good video and I an see rage in both - father's and yours videos :D I checked his video comments and lol'd. So many miserable moral nihilists trying to deny reality.
He doesn't have to define shit to someone who is automatically out to attack others, which you are. You don't desire to have a conversation with aims of reaching a common helpful conclusion that will aid the both of you to happiness- you want to justify, and do that by attacking others to the point where you feel your worldview is justified- how miserable.
I watched Father Oblivion's video, I don't understand how a nihilist (is he a nihilist?) can make a judgment on anyone else. If there is no basis for morality/ethics, how can one pass judgment on another person's behavior?
Moral nihilism is not the idea that you can not make subjective judgements about people but that such judgements are not accurately described by the term "morality".
Yes. So when moral nihilists act angry, or say something nasty about people. It is with the full knowledge that there is nothing good, bad, or just ... rather it is merely trying to be a controlling asshole to others, and an attempt to push your preferences on others, while ignoring theirs.
I would have respect for a moral nihilist who did not get angry towards others or call other people names. Because that way they wouldn't come off as a hypocrite or a controlling douche.
Cool. We moral and otherwise nihilists don't seek your approval. So silly that you expect us to have such a motive in mind when we go about our merry lives and do & say the things we do and say.
So you have no motives? ... you believe in effects without causes. Pretty religious reasoning you got there. Or maybe you are just saying you have no self-knowledge to be able to identify your motives .... no worry. I will point them out to you and others to assist you.
Moral nihilists do not believe in effects without causes.
Moral nihilism = Moral objectivism with another definition of the term "morality"
You and I both believe that:
1) Intrinsic value does not exist.
2) We can determine what to do only based on the real life effect an action has.
So we both believe the same. The only difference is: You use the word morality to describe rational thinking and I don't. The definition of "morality" is the only disagreement.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. That comment was not directed at you, or targeted towards your comments. I do not believe moral nihilists believe in effects without causes.
When moral nihilists act angry, or say something nasty about people, it is with the full knowledge that their emotions are just that - emotions. Sure, they're trying to push their preferences on others, but so does everyone else - when moral realists try to make other people follow moral laws, they're still imposing their preference for objective moral laws (assuming they exist) in the first place, despite what anti-moral preferences the other person might have.
In addition, people don't choose their beliefs - you couldn't genuinely believe in a God even if someone offered you a million dollars for it - so you can't fault people for what they honestly believe.
But more to the point, that comment was an attempt to dismiss moral nihilism, not through reason, but by personally attacking nihilists for what they believe. You of all people should know better than to use such psychological intimidation tactics.

It does not take BALLS to admit one has problems and admit how they feel. It is usually WOMEN (who do not have BALLS) that are very open about these things. You are one of the 3 men I've ever seen admit to crying, in my entire fucking life.

Yes, however that sort of talk does make me angry. And if you have to use such a sexist colloquialism, you should expect at least one folk to be poked by it. Or not. Well, now you should.
Clearly there isn't. You went into full on attack mode over my use of the expression "takes balls." Given my general demeanor and the fact that, otherwise, I don't appear to be sexist, why were you so aggressive in attacking me about it?
There were certainly more constructive ways to handle this, right? And if you're saying that your goal is not constructive, then I'll ask you to leave my channel.
I understand that being that this is the internet, you are making an assumption that I went into "full on attack mode", which I did not, but I felt like saying what came to mind when I heard you say "it takes balls to ___". That is all there was to it. Any better suggestion on how I should have handled it?
Well for one thing, the use of caps at various points makes it come across like you're yelling, along with the F-bomb near the end.
Why not simply point out that I don't seem to be sexist but explain why the expression I used would have negative consequences that I should try to avoid?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I did that, in my own way. You see, not everyone you come across can feed you ice cream the way you want it to be fed to you. Once in a while, you may get a bit on your nice collared shirt. Whatcha gonna do about it?
This is just the way I do things, and I don't want to apologize, but maybe tell ye that you should be expecting friendly, or genuine, people to come in less-brightly colored packages sometimes.
If you are in a restaurant and the server says to you, "You see, not everyone you come across can feed you ice cream the way you want it to be fed to you. Once in a while, you may get a bit on your nice collared shirt. Whatcha gonna do about it?
"
Would you want to come back or have the server work in your restaurant?
It helps to look at your interactions with other people from a customer service perspective instead of as a hand to hand combat opponent; in this case an intellectual enemy.
I don't know what it takes to be a passive aggressive whiner with the name "OdeToNecrophilia" and expect to be taken seriously, but I'm glad I don't have it.
I completely ignore any Father Oblivions. But maybe revealing your psychological problems to the public is not typically American way. I have always been taught, that Americans show their strong side to the public and their weak side to their psychotherapists. I am a Czech, and because we Czechs were usually less opulent in the history, we couldn't afford psychotherapist's too often, so we developed a habit to complain about our problems everywhere. Therefore we're a nation of negative thought.

And you feel that heavy-handed self-righteousness is the best means towards the end of harmony between the sexes?
XOmniverse 2 years ago
Didn't realize there was harmony between us.
OdeToNecrophilia 2 years ago

I did that, in my own way. You see, not everyone you come across can feed you ice cream the way you want it to be fed to you. Once in a while, you may get a bit on your nice collared shirt. Whatcha gonna do about it?
This is just the way I do things, and I don't want to apologize, but maybe tell ye that you should be expecting friendly, or genuine, people to come in less-brightly colored packages sometimes.
And, uh, get used to it?

Well, if you're going to be a fucking cunt, I'll just not interact with you. Simple solution.

Fuck off if you find yourself unable to comprehend it.

Yes, so? To understanding it will bring nothing of value, right?

Xomniverse, I can't hear you speaking at all. Is there something wrong with my computer?
drew335533 2 years ago
I think so. It seems to be working for me.
XOmniverse 2 years ago
Alright, my problem. I got it now.
