Actually your wrong, they did have video cameras, but alot of this footage isn't from vimy some of it is....but an MG42 lol thats a WWII German Machine gun.
I have been there, the Brits had 18 mines, 16 detonated, one expolded in te 50's and one still hasnt gone off! they have to use sheep to cut the grass around this area of belgium and im sure lots of others places, to avoid harm to people if a shell goes off! And at 1:35 is not actual footage, its a re-enactment for the film "The Somme".
The use of tunnels to get the infantry to the middle of the battlefield was key. It allowed them to emerge behind the creeping barage. It was also the first time flash sounding was used to knock out German guns individually instead of by massive barage. Nice video, very honarable.
