@2frey84 they don't let people vote after 10 for a reason. The same reason there has to be regulations surrounding voting. Before you start making vague complaints about the political situation in the uk think about the fundamental and obvious facts, dickhead.
You had 12 hours to get there and vote. If it meant so much to you then you would have MADE time during the day. What did you EXPECT to happen when you turned up last minute!?
don't turn up just before closing then dickhead. If you really cared you would have been down at the polling station the moment it opened, they are close to your house for a reason.
and we the UK have the stuck up cheek to tell other countiries like kenya and ghana how they should have their elections, pfft, when in the UK elections run out of ballot papers and dont let people vote after 10pm , oh what pathetic snobs we are
le système d'élection britannique n'est déjà pas totalement démocratique (avec le bipartisme entre Labour et Tories) mais avec ça en plus ! Ne manque que les machines électroniques pour que toute l'Angleterre cesse d'être une démocratie.
one day you british will die out due to your traditions... e.g. elections on thursday. working day. no wonder there were queues in late evening. change the system, vote on saturday as the other countries do.
I can't see why they couldn't ask for volunteers to go along the queue checking if valid voter and give each a vote slip then another collect the votes. Would of cleared the queue in no time before 10 pm,
Pourquoi voter?
DON'T VOTE!!!
I couldn't be bothered to get to the polling station either during their 14 and a half hours they were opened for. So like all of these people I want to be able to vote when I want to vote, Because life is all about me.
Seriously... how is this possible? Why is nobody talking about a re-run?? You can't just have hundreds of people in a DEMOCRATIC country being denied the right to vote?
Got to my polling station at 9:58pm just as they were closing the doors literally (good thing the bus came when it did). They actually started counting down the seconds which was distracting me as I barely had time and concentration to find the candidates. I was the second to last person to put my voting slips in the boxes. What an experience for my 1st time vote, never again will I cut it so close to the wire. As for the poor people in this video...
If you get to the polling station before 10pm you should be able to vote. Period.
No one knows how busy a polling station will be till they get there and there is no warning on the card saying "turn up with plenty of time to spare"
When i went to vote at my local station around 8:40 there was no one there but the staff. It took me about 60 secs to get in, place my vote and leave. If i had turned up at one of the stations in manchester i might have been turned away!
Seems very weird to me - I live within the boundaries of Ardwick ward, and it was nowhere NEAR this busy. I went in at 6pm and I didn't have to queue at all. Why did everyone come in right before the deadline? Daft thing to do in a ward you know is a big one!
anyone who turned up before 10pm should be allowed to vote! end of. there's no way 200 plus would have all turned up after 10. the officers at this station need to have a word with themselves. its not difficult to organise is it? whats your number, tick you off the list, here's your paper, cross a box, see you next time!
It shouldn't matter about what time you go, or what you did with your day.
The card states '-10pm'. So personally, if you want to go at 9:45pm you should be entitled to go in and get your vote. There should have been more people there, knowing full well how many people live in Fallowfield; that's the issue. Not what time people choose to vote.
working, then cooking and cleaning, looking after my family. I went at 5.30pm there was a very long que and then went back at 7ish and then went back at 9.30 only to be turned away at 10pm with about 100 still waiting in front of me!!!
If u like I can give u a full break down of my day from 6am when I first go up until 10pm at the end of the day more resources should have been put into place to enable us to be able to vote.
The old British "let's go do something only when everyone else is" approach. From what I've been seeing, most polling stations were like ghost towns this morning :-)
Girl at the end was pretty cute in a Helen Baxendale kinda way though. Give her a hug someone.
i wud of thought if they saw you had been there 4 an hour they cud refer you to another station, i went to one in Hulme which was pretty quiet. but i dont really know the policies behind doing that :/
Bad times... further investigation will have to take place!
what song was that you used? (someone always has to ask ;-)... gj on the video. Props for catching the best looking woman on election coverage so far....
this is an absolute disgrace and typical. months to prepare for this but yet ppl being denied their right to vote here but down in lewisham the polls are still open??? WTF?? there shld be consistency everywhere
When so many are voting by post, it makes you wonder why there was a problem higher turn out or not. Are all these postal votes genuine?

I wish my polling station was this busy! I was sooo bored waiting for people to come in.
Why would you leave if someone told you to? You have a right to vote as long as you're in the room between 7am and 10pm.

When the oldest democracy does not work, I can only conclude: the system is sick. A conscious rebellion is urgently needed.

I queued for an hour there. People who went there at half 9 weren't expecting such a huge queue.
Four voting booths is just not enough for Fallowfield, with so many people living there.
