I was just in Milwaukee this past weekend as my daughter will be attending Marquette University this fall. I recognized a lot of sites and you really did a good job capturing the feel of the city.
I always forget how cool those tunnels are from Kilbourn Ave. to I-43(both the entrance, and exit ramp from I-43 to Kilbourn). It makes the infamous tunnel from the north end of Michigan Ave. to north Lake Shore Dr. seem like nothing in comparison, lol. I always suspected somehow that WI 145 was originally projected to be an expressway along its entire route, but was never sure.
Also in case you didn't know, the building you passed at 0:46 on the left houses Milwaukee's city hall.
All the time and always wondered if you would ever do Milwaukee and voila! Hope you got a chance to see the beautiful lake front ! You Go Freeway Jim!!!!
I like the music with your video, very well put together. I haven't seen many videos that are well put together like yours. I do see other copying and learning from you which by the way is very cool.
Milwaukee has a gorgeous downtown core. You see great preserved architecture from the last turn of the century. The downtown area has somewhat of a resemblance to a large German city. A lot of German immigrants moved to Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and not to mention Wisconsin to tend to farming or to set up shop in the urban areas.
As awesome as I think Milwaukee looks, it never fails to amaze me how empty the streets seem to be. Granted, you said it was a Saturday morning and the streets weren't deserted, per se, but the street and sidewalk traffic volumes are huge dropoffs from Chicago just down the shore. Their defined metropolitan areas practically overlap and yet they show stark contrast in this sense.
@RianAlive Milwaukee could be booming if they did alot Downtown Milwaukee. North Chi Suburbs are REALLY close and if Milwaukee would make there downtown better (not that it's bad, just make it better than it is now) but alot of people from the North Suburbs wouldn't bother driving up to Milwaukee
Poor Milwaukee; it's like the little kid that receives no respect, compared to big brother Chicago. After extensively exploring Milwaukee in Google Streetview, I would have to say it's one of America's most underrated cities; certainly worth a few days of exploration. A lot of gentrification has taken place in the last decade. I can only imagine the potential bonanza of development that'll eventually take place along the former ROW of the old Park Freeway. Nice song, by the way.
Excellent tour! Ive always been impressed on how vast the urban core is in Milwaukee . What its downtown doesn't have in height definitely makes up for it in its size. It also has I think one of the most beautiful city halls in the country; not to mention its courthouse.
@ChavoMysterio Pabst brewery closed down awhile ago but all the buildings and silos are still there. They're next to the old "Lake Freeway" that Jim drove through in this vid. Being renovated and turned into expensive apts and condos I hear.
this video is great.

Very nice city. Would look even better with maintained roads.

@danie123182 i think it's because road crews there aren't doing their job restriping the lanes

Is Shotz Brewery anywhere around? ><
ChavoMysterio 7 months ago
@ChavoMysterio Isn't that a fake brewery?
Although Miller is still there in full force, would've been neat if Jim drove right through it though (State St) very nice over there.
Leinenkugel's makes some great beer and is actually seen in some of Jim's previous vids (I43 and WI-145)
Milwaukee brewing company, Sprecher and lakefront brewery also come to mind. I'm sure there are even more.
Beer city!
