It's only affordable for some people. Sure, the government says that you'll still have the option to have private insurance, but you KNOW for a fact that most Americans would opt for the public option, leaving the few with private insurance to pay EVEN MORE taxes to cover people who don't want to take responsibility to pay for their own. In case you didn't know, many of the medical advances in this country were driven by a profit motive. We are the most medically advanced nation in the world and it was a result of the ingenuity and competition that capitalism affords. The insurance industry is not completely absolved of any wrong doing, but what about over government regulation? Do you really think that a government monopoly of the health insurance industry will make our problem go away? I suggest reading portions of the bill.

The number of people who WANT health insurance but cannot get it - 8 million.

The rest are either Medicare or Schip-covered

or don't buy insurance (like me) preferring to pay cash.

Of those 8 million, US law requires they be given free service at the ER. So what we need is a MINOR fix, not government-takeover or monopoly.

Repeat - we don't need a monopoly. All we need is a SMALL fix to cover the 2% of Americans that desire insurance but cannot get it.

hmmm seems as though the facility was filled to capacity and the shouting and rantings denied those inside to hear what was being said. Speakers were set up in the hallway, but the ranters didn't want to hear what was being said. Maybe that's because they believe the Liberty Counsel - funded by Liberty College who's funded by the insurance companies and insurance lobbyists.
