@cccgogirl1313:You actually know how to work on a bus up in New Britain?Wow its a miracle! When I was there every last bus I was on needed a freakin power wash and major tinkling.Word of advice,a bus is not junk if you actually TAKE CARE of it regardless of age.You treat it like dump it'll look that way.
@cccgogirl1313 I agree with him. Do better preventive maintenance work. Do not just wait till something breaks. How good something is maintained, determines how good it will be. Maybe yous are the junk that should be put out of service. Hire real mechanics. Replace parts before they break.
NBTs last Classic 9158 is in the graveyard. We were having transmission problems with it and the CDOT decided that is was not "cost effective" to fix it.
The only remaining RTS is A135.
These are the "94" New Flyers in New Britian946,948,9404,9405,9407,962,961,9425,9426,and 9427
And of course "803" our "09" New Flyer
DATTCO has RTSs C150,152,153,154,155 and 1993 New Flyer 9319
Rumor has it both NBT and DATTCO get D40LFs by the end of this year
Also, you forgot 9412. It's holding it down in Bristol. 803 is the '08 New Flyer...it was bought in July 2008.
If I recall, didn't y'all have 9401 and 9402 earlier? Did y'all also have ex-Housatonic Area Regional Transit (Danbury, CT)'s RTS #201 with a big CT Transit sticker on the sides?
We never had 9401...9402,03,04,05 were the first batch of 94s for us. 02 and 03 have gone to the big garage in the sky.
We did have 201 and 208 from Danbury, and had exactly the same problem that we had with the original RTS, being that the frames were rotting away so those are goners also
They have some of the 1994 flyers running in New Haven too. They are ex-Hartford w/ commuter seating.
Typically they can be found on the Q route or on the Temple/RR parking shuttle.
If your really hungry for a Classic they can be seen running on the Coastal Link between Norwalk-Milford.
Milford Transit has 9102 (ex new haven) in the original scheme. Norwalk has 9101 re-paited , refurbished, and renumbered. They are usually only running during the peak hours.
Well I did catch a 11am CL out of Milford Mall and 9101 was used from Norwalk and it did a few round trippers...so that one bus is used all day on weekdays. All others? Peak only...?
For the most part it seems the 2 classics (norwalk and milford) seem to be out mostly during peak hours.
Their New Flyers seem to be in service most of the day. Norwalk and Milford only have a few 40 foot buses so you do have a chance of spotting them any day during the week at any time.
On some occasions you may even see a 35' orion from Norwalk on the run. On very rare occasions you may even see a 30' thomas from Milford depending on the situation.
Yea Y'all...this is the ONLY bus in the entire state of Connecticut that has the 1980s paint scheme with the old lettering! And yes, it's still active! GO GET IT NOW!
And now looks like those buses are absolutely gone :( D40LFRs have just about taken over parts of CT that didn't get their fair share of blue....

Since when did y'all get 962 from STAMFORD?

WTF? Why such a small company like Milford? How the fuck were they able to afford such a bus like that?
ENYoriginal 3 years ago
CDOT has loaned/leased them to Milford for use on the Coastal link. They have at least 2 ex ct-transit buses.
The 30 foot buses and cutaways they use in town are too small for the volume on the route.
Norwalk and GBTA also have a few extra buses on loan/lease from the state for use on the coastal link.
All three agencies operate the route so you may end up with one of 3 carriers all with different fareboxes and unifoms.
The best chance to catch a classic is during peak times.
