  • I actually like Ian Gillan singing for Black Sabbath better than singing for Deep Purple, He just sounds so evil on this album.

  • nice year for concerts :)

  • its a wicked tune & for the era it was very powerful as all ians and tony, geez & bills together was..i bet if anything they had alot of good times creating in the studio & hanging & partying!!! this song kicks fuckin ass!!!!

  • I love love love this song but I wish the drums were better

  • the story behind this is funny. tere was an old church near where ian and sab were rehearsing, and the vicar stops by and says "cold you boys keep it down between 3 and 4, wehave this choir practice..." the band liked the guy, who was very affable and complimented their music, and respected his wishes, bt geezer got this wicked and fnny song title from the incident, lol.

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33 lern how to spell asshole and maybe someone would listern to your dumb ass

  • @TheSavageMaggot Are you trying to be funny? The"h" and "u" keys on my keyboard are tricky so there were some typos. Meanwhile, in a post in which you call me an "asshole" and "dumb ass" because of those typos, you write "lern" and "listern", lol.

  • @LetsGoMetsGo33 i call bullshit

  • @dasbootydan well i wasn't there, and i don't recall where i first heard/read the account, but the following is from wikipedia's page about the song, attributed to Gillan:"We were in loud playback mode, with the door open...When the track ended I was surprised to see a nervous vicar standing in the doorway. He explained how wonderful he thought the music was, but they were having choir practise... (continued in subsequent post)

  • @dasbootydan (continued) in the adjacent village church and so would we mind closing the door…? I apologised immediately, we got hold of his schedule and never worked again during those times. The following evening I had a few beers with the vicar and signed some autographs for the choir. It was Geezer who came up with the title as we were laughing about the story some days later."

  • weak album.......but i still like it

  • Ian Gillan is awesome...love this song. He's cool with Sabbath

  • Tony Iommi tells the story in his book about how this song came to be. It was based on a real event in which Ian Gillian set off some of Sabbath's pyrotechnic bombs that were in Tony's barn and the local vicar (priest) came by with a signed petition to try and make him leave. Thus, "Disturbing The Priest."

  • @brnleague99 According to what i heard, it was during the recording sessions they were performing so loud they were interrupting choir practice for the church across the street. And the preacher came and asked them to close the doors (since the rooms are soundproof) and they obliged. This song doesn't really have anything to do with it past that though.

  • @mashui99

that's right, and in the evening Ian Gillan was at a bar and one of the priests of the choir was also there, so he got the Idea for that song.

  • Ian Gillan was an awful choice of singer for Black Sabbath, but he totally killed it in this song. Epic.

  • @ShroomBead Wrong,wrong,wrong!!!!

Ian Gillan was fantastic in Sabbath.

I saw them on tour supporting this album and it was a great show, beginning to end.

  • I like how sinister Ian sounds here.

  • Damn! Ian was the madman as he took the microphone duties for The Sabbath.

  • sounds like a nightmare (not in a bad way) -- it's like a horror film that's actually scary.

  • Man this was a fun time for music, although this album still blows me away with it's darker overtones- WICKED, We saw Deep Purple, with original lineup in like feb of '85- Sabbath as well, Iron Maiden, ***Actually Bon Jovi opened up, and was BOOOOOD of the stage! all true

  • Man this was a fun time for music, although this album still blows me away with it's darker overtones- WICKED,

  • my favorite sabbath singer and record.just saying...ozzy and ronnie were amazing as well, but theres something about the songs that blew me away.just a thought..

  • i feel like shit drunk at 549 in morning this song got me up its great

  • This songs proves what a good singer Gillan was. And he referes himself as the worst Black Sabbath singer.

I love all Black Sabbath eras: Ozzy, Dio, Gillan, Hughes, Martin and Gillen.

  • @208494ski

Shut up, this song is Great!

  • @208494ski

Nope, this song is great for everyone!

  • @95holydiver well, I listened again, and you obviously have good drugs to enjoy

  • @208494ski All matter's what your taste in music is, it's clear you dont apreicate good music (and I suppose we'll respect that.) But its pointless to go on a video and say "This sucked" cause of course there would be attention drawn to that comment. Personally, I adore this song, I'd like to see you be able to hit such high notes, and make such immaculate lyrics.

    Just saying, dont troll.

    -TMJ-

  • dio and ozzy \m/

    tony iommi

  • Ozzy! Period!

    This isnt Black Sabbath

  • @venticasfamily ¡Ozzy, Dio, Gillan,Hughes, Martin, Gillen! Period! This is Black Sabbath. (Sorry Ozzy)

  • Just imagine...tripping on acid with some high school friends back in '86. I was staring at a mound of wriggling earthworms when this INSANE laughter BOOMED down at me from the heavens. The force of it drove me to my knees and then I realized...it was Ian Gillan from the opening of "Disturbing The Priest!" Ah, what a night!

  • This era is dreck.

  • 666

  • thats what my baby would look like

  • The reason we have so many arguements over the singers for this band is a few reasons: Lyrics are important and we all know who writes the lyrics for this band. Also, musicianship is top notch in Sabbath. Therefore, as long as the singer does a reasonable job, Sabbath can always pull it off. Now, I'm not sayin' using Gillan was just pullin' it off, nor any of the other singers they used...I'm just saying that without Geezer and Iommi, no Sabbath.

  • dio is awsome, but so is ian gillan

  • so occult. awesome tune

  • Dio is the master of the voice, but this album with Ian Gillan is amazing... fucking awesome, insanely sick !!!!!!

  • ALL SABBATH KICKS ASS FOR US BORN IN THE EARLY 60'S

  • The best part of this song is the laugh at the beginning.

  • @ebeaver15 Agreed bro,i love it!!

  • Maybe the only song I like off this album. It's the only one that actually sounds like Black Sabbath.

  • this song is disturbing

  • This is one of the most creative and best songs ever fucking made. So intense it will make the pope shiver and shit his shorts.

  • I have always thought this was a seriously kick ass album

  • I thought this was a really ballsy album from the ultimate Black Sabbath.

Yeah- they rocked and went hard... added Gillan to the mix and let him do his thing.

Anyone who doesn't like this don't know what it is to grow up with Sabbath...

they merely are listening to this many years after the fact and making their little bullshit comments!

  • this is the most wicked song sabbath ever beacuse of gillan but ozzy is the great og and dio was dam good shit there all good in there own way !!!!!! rip dio !!!

  • oooohhhh, spooky

  • The rolling stone magazine, although i hate them because of that crap top guitarists list, actually gave this album a good review. Furthermore to black sabbath fans it is a favorite, they produced some great songs on this albums. You can't argue who's better, Ozzy, Dio, Gillan. They are all great, The original black sabbath did have the best music but Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are bloody good and so is this album. Black Sabbath rules, whoever it is

  • gillian's voice ain't powerfull enough for iommi's guitar...sabbath is only sabbath when ozzy or dio are singing

  • @Corleonetone What??? I can't believe you just typed that. I can't believe you thought that. Gillan's voice is incredibly powerful. He's a beast dude!!!!

  • watch out for religion ...when he gets too near...words of infinite wisdom there boys and girls

  • if a band came out today that sounded like this would you guys buy it?

  • gillan lays down some of the most haunting and the most absolutely brilliant harmonies here that ive ever heard in my life...ever.

  • this was inspired with humor about the priest who wanted the band to turn it down while rehersing, read about it on wikipedia!!!

the album ended up in the cut out section at Payless.

  • Aaaaahahahahahaha!

    I loooove it!

  • this riff makes you un easy from the get go

  • ian is astounding here....i thought i was the only sick fucker that thinks this is one os sabbaths strongest..guess not..lol

  • My favorite song from this album, and a great sabbath overall. Happy that Gillan and Iommi are working together again but wish it were on another Sabbath album. Gillan and Dio are the 2 best voices for Sabbath, and since a a new album with the original 4 seems unlikely, another one with these guys would be awesome.

It's like the band just turned up the creepy.

  • @BeatleStone Exactly. This is a good album, but it's not a real Black Sabbath Album. Neither are the Dio albums, and they are probably the best Metal Albums there ever were.

They don't need Ozzy to be Great, but they need Ozzy to be Black Sabbath.

  • this is my favorite sabbath song

  • Next to Black Sabbath, the most evil song Sabbath put out! Why doesn't radio play it. Not evem XM/Sirius plays it. Truely sick.

  • @mpokey73 Yeah its sad that most kids today only get to hear" Iron Man" (probably my least favorite sab Song) I mean if those kids heard Hole in the sky or Disturbing once...they'd probably curl into fetal position due to the shear magnitude of the heavyness of those tracks!!!!!!

  • REEEEAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLYYYYY GOOOOOOOOD, ONE FAVORITES SONGS EVER!!!!

  • I Love this fuckin song! Insanely sick vocals by Ian Gillan.

  • amazing... a fucking masterpiece...... lyrics are fucking unreal....

  • This album sounds so foreign! It's like they create an entirely different musical personality for each different singer... like a tri-polar madman...

  • it's still the original Sabbath, just a different singer. If anything, I always thought Gillan brought back that "evil" vibe that Sabbath started out with but seemed to lose over the years ('technical ecstasy' through 'mob rules')

  • I was reading an Ian Gillan interview in which he explaned the origins of this song saying that they rented an old church to rehearse in under one condition : the priest who still resided there was allowed to stay (church stuff) so anyway this priest would come up several times a day to complain about the noise and so they named this song disturbing the preist.... strange but true

  • I love the evil insanity in Gillans vocals on this song. Totally awesome!

  • This is absolutely horrid.

  • @triAceFanboy why? if you have an actual reason to dislike this then i promise that i won't hate on you.

  • @triAceFanboy Sadly I have to agree. There are people who actually think Born Again is the "best Sabbath album."

  • ......... Man, hadn't really heard this song ina way I can appreciate it, it's AWESOME!!! :D

  • Gillan pushes the limit vocally with this track.

  • It's not truly Sabbath without the original lineup, but this is great stuff. Only probablem is they didn't rename the band. Small price to pay, I guess...

  • masterpiece!

  • opinionated as i am, i must say this is the best sabbath album of all time. ozzy rules. dio surely held his own and was a true gentleman in his time.... neither can scream like ian...or take the time to write these kind of lyrics. listen to this album start to finish you will definitely appreciate it.

  • preists are nonces of all religions, satan shall stoke them for eternity ha ha ha ha

  • perfect. just perfect

  • ya , i bought this new in 1980 fukkin 2 maybe ???

  • Well, lots of opinion here being sold as fact. Bunch of ignorant folk. Face it your taste is born of your hunger for the dard and seedy side of things. I've left for the ligher side of the universe. Sorry, but I can't see one of you from here, gotta log on here to hear and gaze at how the dark and bark are screaming in the miazmic haze of smhell. Bub-bye....ya....bubb-bye.

  • este albún no se remasterizado???

  • Underrated Album. Great line-up. One more from them would have been great. Powerful voice. This track is excellent. Wish they had video to go with this track.

  • This is as evil as Sabbath ever got.

  • AWESOME album...OH, the memories....Love entire body of Sabbath work.....THIS one was special, though and perhaps instead of using the Sabbath name - could have been marketed as a "super group".....Deep Purple, Sabbath, and Rainbow have all been respectably interchangeable personnel of each other's line-ups...Did see the Deep Purple Perfect Strangers reunion tour the following year after Born Again release....

  • @TheTraci1968 Along with many other side bands. It's disturbing as Hell. But they made good music.

  • Re-living the memories........I've been re-born!

  • not a massive fan of deep purple but this does impress me

  • Nov 6th in portland maine 1983, this was incredible concert, ratt backed them up! this is one of my top 3 fav black sabbath albums!

  • this was an incredible concert, and an incredible album to listen to on acid!

  • @salmonfire

Missed the concert...But not the "paper tabs"....The best music of a generation!

  • This is a highly under-appreciated era of Black Sabbath. One album..one tour. For me, it's the last really strong Sabbath album besides the last one with Ronnie (The Devil You Know). Just think that Ian Gillan played Jesus in "Jesus Christ Superstar".

  • Born Again is a GREAT Sabbath LP,I don't give a shit what anybody says.

  • this album is better than mob rules

  • @billgeezeriommi there's treasures to be found in all sabbath albums.

Mob Rules had lots of them,Born Again was Great, alot of people put Born Again down

but I'm with you,I think Born Again is a Great Album,But I start with Heaven and Hell, then Mob Rules

BACK TO BACK,then Born Again.Sabbath started the early 80's off Extremely Well,if you ask me.

  • @jlr41877 i agree except for its heaven and hell, born again, then mob rules all of them are great albums tho, and the 4th best of the 80s is headless cross i think

  • toni iommi is the best . king of the metal riff.

  • listen to that fucken riff .. holy shit bill ward laying down the thunder.

  • @JLOZANO2 Great Line Up,BORN AGAIN is a Sabbath Masterpiece

  • This song needs to be appreciated the correct way, with the INTRO that leads into it "Stonehenge". It sounds much better with the intro leading into the evil laughs rather than it starting as a track on its own..just so everybody knows...

  • Sounds jjjjjjuuuuusst like Jack Black.

  • @TheCratt Uh.... wouldn't Jack Black sound exactly like *this*?

  • @Fretslayer Yerp

  • awesome song,Gillan did a great job!!

  • 5:25

    O.O

    damn so melicious

  • 4:24

  • I received this in a cassette, on my birthday back in 1985. I was surprise because a married woman, friend of my parents gave it to me as a gift.!!! My first BS stuff. sorry I have lost that cassette. A Classic album.

  • @heryblax Great Album,I love this LP,I got my copy at age 11 in 1986 from a Buddy named Shawn Smith, then 15 years old.,copied me this LP on an old Maxell CrO 2

    remember that?Chrome Format? CrO 2.

  • these lyrics kick ass!

  • When this record came out,it destroyed many bands of the day.

yeah that's right, even priest and maiden.it crushed them both.

  • Disturbing the Judas Priest

  • @electgabry95 hey Goddammit,quit badmouthing Judas Priest,Not Funny!!

  • I don't give two royal shits what ANYONE says about this grossly misunderstood album....Gillan stepped in and delivered some KILLER vocals on this album...every song has that classic Sabbath groove and several of 'em have SHITLOADS of atmosphere and some great layered textures....Gillan's screams and wails on this is the stuff of legend!! The title track alone is worthy of the title 'EPIC.'

  • From a 15 yr olds point of view, that cover was just fucking cool !! I still have the Lp...

    Sabbath rules !!!! ok??? \m/

  • I love the cackles at the end....muahahaha

  • always played often in the run in to Halloween in this house! ;)

  • the begginning of this song was scaring my dog.

  • One of the most overlooked and supremely underrated Sabbath albums

I loved Ian in Sabbath, too bad it didn't last, cause this album is WICKED EVIL!!!!

  • @ashenhooves the sad part is they have made gillen himself say he was the worst singer for sabbath. which is far from the truth.

  • @argavus to hear that Ian himself would make such a statement is truly sad,But Political,You know, Just to clear the way for the next guy. But had this album been recorded under a different name...lets say Gillan,Butler,Iommi & Ward.It would've gone down as one of the most Dark and Powerful things ever heard, I mean really just sit and listen to this album start to finish....F'n HEAVY...HEAVVVVVVY.

    Thanks Ian,some people didn't "get it"...But I did!

  • @ashenhooves totally agree would have been better under a sydonim the concert was UN-REAL caught them in Rochester back in the day EPIC!

  • @ewag67 I was just making a statement about the politics of it really, I'm Glad this got the Sabbath name, This is a top three sab albums for me in no order... Sabotage,Live evil,Born Again

  • @ashenhooves Part of it may have been because Ian said he only did this album for the money and never liked this kind of music anyway. It's hard to say really, but this song is total badass. It's a shame it doesn't get the audience it deserves. It's IMO the most evil song on this album and that is a damn good thing! \m/

  • @Fretslayer even if Ian sang a toilet paper commercial (for the money) it would still be the sickest toilet paper jingle, sang by one of the sickest vocalist ever. Even not caring (if its true) he managed to kick just about everybodys ass straight to hell!!!

    \m/ back atcha bro!

  • @ashenhooves Since Dio is gone I would love to see a reunion of this lineup and tour now.

  • @CelestialWoodway You Sir are a genius!!!

  • @ashenhooves You are sooo right pal! Happy New Year to ya!

  • @ashenhooves Evil like eating a newborn baby. Awesome.

  • @ashenhooves

Most evil album Sabbath ever did, and they did it without "the prince of darkness"! Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" is another one that is overlooked as an entire album.

  • @ashenhooves so true..my first concert that i seen was this ..a looong time ago .ian was so fucked up you couldnt understand a dam thing he was sayin..hair in his face ,,looked like cousin it....didnt mater this is the legendary BLACK SABBATH .

  • @ashenhooves I couldn't agree more.

  • Gillan is a fucking god!!!!!

  • i like the unmixed demo better it just sounds more rawer and more evil then this version

  • I'm listening to every song from this album on youtube to decide whether or not i want to buy it.

    This is a definite "yes!"

  • @Sinker861 Buy it........fuckin' awesome album, the whole thing. I am trying to find it on vinyl

  • I think this song has the best beginning ever! Shivers run down the spine as the scream, pounding drums and the power chords hit you right in the face!

  • One of the most underrated albums in metal history ... I love it!

  • The best "dark,gothic,horror" song of B.S.

  • Pure evil. Beautiful song.

  • This is the heaviest/most evil song ever recorded !!!!

    Nevermind the stupid album cover.

  • @metemi Why is the album cover stupid? I always thought it was bad ass.

  • @melowar78 I guess it's the colors, it just looks cheesy and cheap to me. It's considered by many to be one of the worst album covers ever, but if you like it that's cool.

  • probably Sabbaths most heavy most evil album to date in my opinion, fuckin awesome,Ozzy could never have pulled this off \m/

  • @mrshef666 Evil shit, I can picture Sabbath fucking with a priest for fun.

  • @zenphil haha \m/

  • @mrshef666 I think dehumanizer managed to outweigh this one IMO, but this is damn heavy sabbath right here.

  • @mrshef666 I agree ..Ozzy likes the beatles too much. He sux now.

  • @thebailey67 man you know if you go back into ozzys catalog...youll find that he changed with the times...always...he never stood artistic ground..now he tunes down to sound like korn...man fuck!

  • @mrshef666 agree .with you invinity %

  • This is metal, this is perfection and everybody who want's to play heavy music this is the essential lesson and zero the hero.

  • Awwww man!!! you get all the good ones!!! thanx brother!!! great job!!!

  • Great song!

  • 95holydiver Well this is a great song from a great record. Dio was the master voice but Ian does a great job on this.

  • @eldorado61guy

yes it´s true. Disturbing the Priest is my fav Sabbath/Gillan Song!

  • @95holydiver Dont make em like this anymore!!

  • @celticwitan

you suck, Dio is the master of the voices so SHUT UP
