in the 60s and 70s the fastest drag cars were 426 Hemi's still using chrysler engines at that stage. todays top fuel engines are still based on that original chrysler design. no chrysler didn't invent the hemi. but they made the hemi awesome. in top fuel you don't want millions of cams and valves, with nitro methane the simple strong as king kong engines are what is needed. you put nitro methane in your import it'll blow to pieces. credit where credit is due.
Your right., but actually it was 1970 then, when Gene Snow broke into the sixes with a 1970 dodge challenger. He also was the first 200 mph in the 1/4 with that same car, also in 1970. Chevy's 427 was a badass motor as was well. I love Chevy, Ford and Chrysler. You weren't paying much attention if you think the Hemi isn't that great.
