they dont give u good prices selling ur guitar , thier service is horrible. where i am , thier rude , they cant play anything , it looks like big selection of guitars, its not
Iv had mine for about 5 months now and it still amazes me i cant find a single thing wrong with it, at first it annoyed me that you couldnt get a heavier sound from it, but all it takes it some adjustments to the amp settings and it really comes alive. The only actual bad thing i can find about it is the numbers on the volume and tone dials rubs off after like a month, but it thats its worse fault that you cant really complain i totally recommend one =]
Last January (2008) I almost bought a Ric 360, but I made a last minute decision to get a Tele because I just felt like it was a good time to get a Fender. I've been with the '08 sunburst Tele for over a year now and I haven't regretted it one time. I love it.
the review is almost useless for me because i'm a fingerpicker. why the heck do all such reviews overlook fingerpicking? fingerpicking enables you to have more control over what you're doing and you get the REAL tone while picks kill half of it.
he never mentioned the new inertia block with the copper in it. also for the rrp 789 quid its about 240 quid more for just a bit of tinted lacour diffrent saddles and high mass block. you might as well look for the 2009 usa deluxe you could pick them up for about 30 quid more if you shop around. and there better, as they have scn pups s1 switching and select adler body. plus the contour neck cutaway.
One slight factual inaccuracy (that I haven't seen addressed in any of the comments) in the review of the strat comes early on, when he mentions the bridge (actually "bridge/middle") tone pot. At 10 you don't "pretty much" get the straight sound of the pick up, you get the exact sound of the pick up. The new Americans have a No Load Tone Control in that pot that, at 10, completely bypasses the tone pot. There's even a slight detent in the knob you can feel at 10. Otherwise, nice review.
actualy chris the mexican standard strats and tele's are the lower end fenders that are designed for people stuck on a budget but would love to have a fender. The difference between the 08 standards and the 07 standards are just what he mentioned, basicaly you get a better feel, a more vintage look and sound and because of the new bridges a bit mroe sustain and resonence.
Also the vintage LOOKING saddles are bronze infuse to provide wonderful sustain and great natural sounds. Add that to the extremely thin finish and u got on hell of an acustic tone from the natural woodsound
One more difference not mentioned often is the American Standard has 22 medium jumbo frets while the "Regular" Standard (Mexican) has just 21... and you might need that high D note, you know!
IMO, the rosewood would look better since it'll provide contrast to the pearl body and while pickguard. But I'd prefer a maple neck for the feel and tone...
BTW just got an American in Black with maple fretboard :)
Yeah, I agree with the guys here. I love the maple necks. At first they are bright but after you play and practice on them religiously they really warm up. I was reading an article recently about "Rosewood" vs. "Maple" and to make a long story short after 20+ years of playing on them there is no noticeable difference in warmth at all. I thought that was pretty cool. Good luck my good man.
Love my 2008 Std. Strat - originally has an indent on the tone for the bridge / middle that bypasses the pot completely. Just replaced the p/u's with SD humbuckers (sh-2/sh-4) and a 5-way that splits and it sounds really good.
depends on ur opinion. the tele is heavier but this doesnt mean anything!! i personally prefer strats, the look, the feel, and especially the tremelo arm!!
o.k., anyone who knows (fender)guitars i would really really appreciate the help.I am getting a new fender guitar for christmas and i am allowed to get any one under the price range of 1200 dollars. I have been in between many gutars and cannot make up my mind which one i want. I have been in between the classic player 50s, the new highway one and the new american standard and i dont know which one to pick. Also if you know of any other great models by fender let me know. Thanks a lot!
I have all three as well as the new Highway One Tele. All are excellent you can't really go wrong with any one of them. If I had to pick between them all I would go with my Standard Strat, with the Tele right behind it. Play a bunch of them or each kind and find the one that speaks to you
Try the Triple Tele Deluxe. I know it sounds like the name of an ice cream, but that thing is loaded! Can't get much better than that for under $1200. Or, if you want to keep it simple, you could just go for the American Standard.
The Highway One is a really cool deal. One word of warning, as I had owned one, the jumbo frets can be difficult to play. Because they are so high, the strings can be bent out of tune with anything but a very light touch. The is especially problematic when making chords as each string may be bent a little out of tune making the chord sound very bad. It can be played well, but it is more difficult than the Standard's size of frets - no matter how hard I press on my Std. the tuning stays.
ihsg2012: just ran across the Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster at musiciansfriend - looks great with splittable humbuckers, mahogony w/maple top - a Fender LP? - for 1/2 your budget.
I really don`t think Fender`s worth the price you pay. The hum noise is just ridiculoes, many U$300 dollar guitar`s don´t do it, even using passive pickups.
Whilst the stratocaster can't mimick the 'twang' of a telecaster I think the tele can do nearly everything that a stratocaster can with the modern effects available.
I just feel that the tele is often overlooked as just a country 'n blues guitar.
Very true about the Tele. It's a very versatile guitar. Anyone who doubts that should take a look at Jeff Beck's use of the Tele when he plays What Mama Said. It can be searched here in YouTube.
I love watching these demos. This guy knows what he's talking about and he can play real good.

which one would you recommend for a starter on electric guitar?
pujolsbaseball13 3 years ago
neither for a beginner guitar as they are both around $1k.
try a squire or mexi-strat for a first guitar (or any guitar around 2-$300 basically).
aStrangerAmongUs 3 years ago
i've already play acoustic for like 6 months. the telecaster i want was assembled in mexico or something so its only like 300-400 dollars
pujolsbaseball13 3 years ago
ahh, well that's cool. Go for it!
aStrangerAmongUs 3 years ago
The most use the Stratocaster for beginning.
Its better because it has 2 cutaways, so you can pick the lowest frets .
But I prefer Telecaster, looks better ::)

its a 60 cycle hum, the only reason your $300 guitar dosent hum is either the pickups are reverse wound or maybe you have a humbucker?
60 cycle is apparent in ALL REAL single coil pickups my friend....
