  • the drummer yells fuck! @0:57

  • UNIVERSIDAD!

  • It's amazing how this is incomprehensible if you're just listening to it, but put the words to it and suddenly you're wondering how you didn't understand it.

  • O_o in 0:58 someone screams "fuck"

  • 100 people will not see their Louie Louie again

  • motorhead has done in my opinion , one of the best remakes of this classic.

  • the most overdone marching band song! xD

  • Today (Saturday) i had one hour of terrible terror math, a coaching lesson in school. And the way back home lasts 50 min.

Gues what i was hearing to forget this math lesson...

  • I know how to play this :D

  • thanks. grew up next door to those guys heard that damn thing 24x 7 for a while lol

  • I never think of the billion bands/artists that covered this song.

Whenever I hear this, I always think of Animal House.

    TOOOGGGAAA!

  • 3rd Rock from the Sun.

  • ANIMAL HOUSE....comes to mind. <3

  • I know loads of people have covered this but I keep coming back to the The Kingsmen. I just love the way the singer sounds completely off his face lol

  • I finally know the words after all these years. I am 62 and would try to sing along and only could pick out a few words. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

  • MARTY ST LOUIS BABY!!!!

  • I was curious what software was used to make this video? Thanks!

  • @jpmeduna

hi, i used windows movie maker on windows xp

  • @jpmeduna everyone knows this is just a sopa personal trying to track down what software was used to ban it.

  • Simpsons.

  • - (quarter note) _quarter rest ---_-- ---_-- ---_-- ---_-- over and over again for the bassline... and i love it.

people say euphoniums suck, oboe not any better son

  • I don't know how much of it is true, but the story behind this recording is amazing. Apparently they thought it was just a rehearsal, and not an actual take. The microphone was apparently mounted so high that the singer had to stand on his toes to reach it. The best is when he comes in too early after the solo. The last detail of the legend, of course, is that they were all hungover from partying. Again, I don't know if it's true, but it's a great story.

  • this song started Sunn amps.

  • This isn't Toots & the Maytals.

  • ok i dont get it this vid has almost 2 million views why dont you make more vid you only have one and its great

  • @lackmaster12 one of two reasons: one, he doesnt want videos just to be made, but videos he likes, or two, he lost the password/made a new one/doesnt get on youtube much (seeing as this is from early 2007)

  • At the tampa bay lightning hockey games, when our star player marty st louis scores they play this!

  • My baby is called Louie, not after this song, but I do love it!

  • im gonna turn this tune up a bit and roll a big fat doober to enjoy

  • For years we use to think that it was a "dirty" song and tried to figure out the words...LOL You want dirty...liste to todays "clear as a bell" songs. Theres no mistaking what they are saying in todays kids songs. Takes all the fun out of it. ;-)

  • EXCELLENT job on the lyrics!! A revelation for me! Thanks ibji.

  • Good old rock n roll.

  • we play this for marching band

  • @piedudeism Same hahaha

  • Good old time rock tune. I remember it fondly because of Animal House.

  • Around 2.20 ".....(me) take her in my arms again

I('ll) tell her, "I'll never leave again"

    To me he sings:

"...(me) take her in my arms again

now I tell her, I´ll never leave a girl"

This makes more sense since the story goes that Louie sits in a bar talking to the bartender.

  • @velenjak4ever

On the original Richard Berry version, he can clearly be heard saying "again" and not "a girl"...so....OBJECTION OVERRULED!

  • @ibji There are so many different versions of Louie Louie that the original lyrics by Berry doesn´t matter. I still don´t agree with your interpretation of the lyrics around 2.20. It´s no big deal but still.....

  • Where does the 'sitting in a bar' come from?

  • @rasalzip I got it from The Louie Louie pages

  • @velenjak4ever I must corret myself. It´s the barkeeper that goes by the name of Louie, not the sailor.

  • What I don´t understand is why no one seems to have bothered to ask the lead singer what he actually sang??? How hard could/can it be to ask the guy?

  • anyone else first hear this song in animal house?

  • Who else had to search for a long time to find the fake dirty lyrics for this song?

  • lollllll you can totally here him say fuck

  • Good song to listen to while totally ass drunk.

  • The Kingsmen had only enough money for one recording of studio time, so this was all done in one take. The words are slurred because they were a bit drunk during the take. Someone yelled "fuck" at :57 when they messed up, and you can hear the singer come in early and correct himself at 2:01. Check out the live versions, the words are clear and the mistakes are not there. The fact that this is one take and the mistakes made are kept in make this song even more epic.

  • @montereypopfestiva67

    Interesting facts!!!!!

  • The Kingsmen stole their arrangement of this song from The Wailers of Tacoma, Washington!

  • Homer goes to college,,I like this song :D

  • the song kinda sucks but the melody is great what is it c minor melody. I don't know. I leave it a like! :)

  • @ryandocs A major scale. Although you can fit the same notes on the Fm pentatonic scale too.

  • Beautiful job!!

  • Couldn't understand most of what he said

  • Like if you play this in marching band

  • @laluzksegimos I did years ago!

  • Why not ask the writer of LL Richard Berry-chances are he knows the lyrics

  • Rumor has it that this is the million dollar song on "Don't Forget The Lyrics." This, or "Sukiyaki."

  • "I felt my bone right in her hair".

  • I swear the guy singing this is high

  • 0:58 it says "Fuck!" It's the drummer messing up and correcting himself.

  • I can play dis awn teh trumpet. :3

    (NOBODY CARES)

    D:!

  • @GDawgy98 sweet would like to hear that

  • @MrDogoman Yah, it might be on google if you want it.

  • @GDawgy98 Nice to hear, but you misspelled some things.

  • Ok so I'm not the only one who automatically thinks of Animal House when I hear this song

I feel less weird now d:

  • louie louie oh no said we gotta go!

  • lol...guitar solo...that rocks. oh yea and TOGA!!!

  • Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga!

  • ANIMAL HOUSE....

  • I felt Tyrone in my inner hair

  • thumbs up if hank green brought you here.

  • Who else heard the drummer shouting 'Fuck' in the background at 0:55 ? The FBI missed that for years lol

  • @LiimLsan I've got it on 0:58 :PP

  • @LiimLsan didn't sound like 'fuck' just sounded like random yelling.

  • @LiimLsan i don't think he said "fuck" i think it was just random shouting.

  • @LiimLsan They were too busy looking for the "pornography."

  • AW i just LOVE this song!!! JAY!! Ow baby yeahyeahyeah haha

  • This is actually a garage rock style. It's supposed to sound lazy and crappy like this. This is the song that pioneered garage rock. What it is, is basically, 2 guitars, an amazing drummer, and sometimes a bass and rarely a keyboard. and the singers don't have to sound good to actually be good. One of my favourite music genres. :)

  • ANIMAL HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • i just came bag from a band trip, played the guitar solo on meh trumpet, memorable night

  • i came here from down periscope

  • best 170 seconds of my life.

  • HEYYyyyy, "-ibji, Thnx a Mil, been hunting 4 thidone 4 awhile, Great Job on Posting the Lyrics., hell " I must've been 10yrshunting Old, Always LOVED IT!

  • The solo is sick

  • @ManyEvilThingsAtLast

That the solo is sick, what do you mean by that?

  • @velenjak4ever he means that is kool well it means alot of things like badass and stuff

  • how the hell can you tell

  • my band preformed this at a kennywood parade and some lady came up to us when we were loading the bus, asked us what school we went to, told us we were amazing, and literally walked THROUGH the band next to us and didnt say a word to them!

  • Make me fries!

  • Who's kidding who here??

I remember when they came and took the "original" out of the juke box and put in the one you hear today. I had a friend who frequented the dives, and this was one of the dive songs at that time. The drunker they got the the more vulgar the lyrics got, and the more they made up new ones.

Just exactly what the Kingsmen sang at first, who knows, it was too fuzzy, but suggestion sure was easy to accept, and some of that was vulgar even by todays standards.

  • Story I heard on a radio interview with one of the guys who recorded it said there was 1 microphone hanging about 10 feet over the top of them all so the singer had to really yell for it to be heard and thus the reason why he can barely be heard. Dunno if that`s true or not.

  • Bill O'Reilly was inspired by the lead singer.

"FUCK IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE."

  • Props to the guy who found out what the lyrics to this song was

  • "The Negroes too our dates!"

  • I love how when this song came out it was so controversial yet when I was little we sang this song in sunday school with louie changes to Pharaoh. Love it.

  • because its anarchic in its style..way before its time...its not all about spikey hair and safety pins...thats how

  • craziest drummer ever....is he drumming to the same song????absolutely fantastic..the first punk song ever..!!!!!!

  • @boinng100

HOW THE FUCK IS THIS PUNK?

  • Toots & Maytals version was the best . Check it out !!

  • sounds soo gud 4 an old song nd i have to learn how to play this 4 piano class so hard -________-

  • This is one of those songs that just flat out kicks ass! Excuse my french.

  • I have loved this song all my life. I once heard that Nixon's or Hoover's guys listened to this song over and over for 2 years trying to find out the secret message inside. It would be hilarious if it weren't true. What a waste of time! Like all that time they spent under MLK's bed when they could have been under Cheney's bed. Never mind. I get it now.

  • Thank for the lyrics, but I'll continue to sing me completely inaccurate version of the song!(:

  • @dagul6838 I was in Jr High when this song was hot, and we all thought the lyrics were dirty - didn't know exactly what was being said, but we knew it was dirty!

The FBI checked into it, cause if they were dirty, the radio stations would have to quit playing the song.

As I recall, they eventually just gave up, declaring in effect , " We don't know what the f*** the guy is saying!"

  • @TheAzmountaineer Ha. :) (I'm Dagul6838 BTW) Closed old one.

  • i do this song for colorguard lol its a cheer. we scream it :)

  • knight and day !! ♥

  • I like how at about 56sec in the drummer yells f*** in the background.

  • Band part's good at least!! my little brother has to play this in a football game!

  • thumbs up when youre here because the simpsons!

  • he was so drunk that he can sing oblivious great:-)

  • what did i teach you guyz??

    party down??

    yesss!!!!

  • according to wikipeida,@1:58 was a mistake..the first "me see" was too early,so the drummer does a fill..

  • knight and day ftw

  • how many know theFBI actually investigated this CHUCK BERRY song???

  • this is my favorite song in jazz band i play the drum part nd my friend does thhe trumpet solo

  • I've been looking for this song, it just stuck to me after I watched "Knight & Day" xD Haha, it's the sound from his phone.... xD

  • i rember playing this song on donkey kong conga about 8 years ago when Game cubes were cool

  • Played this in band \m/

  • I never understood a single word before!!! Thanks for posting this!!!!

  • toga toga toga

  • the vocals are mixed pretty low, possibly causing the drunk lyric effect.

  • @stashJ8 it sounds slurred and drunk cause the band did know they were actually recording. they thought this was just a rehearsal before the recording so they did not really care

  • @clownwithoutmakeup fuck that i think it's genius!

  • @clownwithoutmakeup take a history lesson the answers are in your dna use it the singer just got old fashon braces before the recording it sounded cool so they went with it also at the time they are ushering in a new era where you can barely understand what they are saying where they say other things but write it safe for the radio

  • This makes me wanna party.Motorhead makes me wanna hmmm take a nap?

  • my boner in her hair ? Are you a fag !

  • @LeotheTiger1776 i heard that too, i also heard that their findings said that the lyrics were unintelligible at any speed you play the song at.

  • @LeotheTiger1776 Its true. The dirty lyrics were so well known that the government got involved to see whether it was the song that was spreading the dirty lyrics..... ( a different time)

  • Funny when I heard this in my Grammar (8th Grade) school years I thought there were words "...stuck my finger in..." never mind, just a 13 year olds' recollection and hormonal memory bite.

  • I just love the corrections, makes the video for me haha!

  • They banned the wrong user!!

  • ironically the word 'fuck' is present in this song. the drummer can be heard yelling it in the background upon fumbling his sticks

  • Fuck u rob... Who gives a dayum... (Clears throat)...

  • casey & louie bear youtubeme!

  • Why dont you just fix the corrections in your little moviemaker file and reupload it because the annotation fixes just suck..

  • This song will always remind me of fall quarter, kegs, and togas.

  • at around 2:00 I always heard: I stick my finger up her hole of love"... but I was 14 years old, so that might explain a lot.

  • this is one of the songs we're playin durin marchin season. the best part of playin it is the solo!

  • We played this in band! :)

  • one of our stand tunes for marching band ^_^ fun times

  • Ya know, when I was 14, I heard the right lyrics just fine. In fact I based my approach to dating entirely on "Louie, Louie".

The confusion starts when discussions are based on 15+ year old ears.

  • @patrose I'm 14 and I saw the dirty meaning

  • who gon die?

  • how drunk was the singer when they recorded this?

  • @JustSomeGuyOk apparently very because usually somebody whos sober doesnt sing about a guy, and call him "baby" lol, but still a great fucking song

  • @JustSomeGuyOk very

  • @JustSomeGuyOk very

  • @JustSomeGuyOk he was mangled it sounds like

  • @JustSomeGuyOk I don't know, but they nailed it!

  • @JustSomeGuyOk Not drunk at all.

  • @JustSomeGuyOk you mean high

  • you gon die

  • so do i! i play 2ng Bb trumpet wat do u play?

  • i play trumpeat to

  • Not sure if anyone has heard a marching band play this, but it's fun on a tuba, but a true experiance on the trumpet, especially for the solo.

  • @zacharyberne i play it on trumpet, its fantastic XD

  • @zacharyberne This song was canceled by the government for school to play because they could not understand the lyrics and didn't want kids to hearing this song.

  • @keithkyle2 Tell that to our sheet music.

  • "louie" was slang back in the day for lieutenant ,...and the big boat ride took 3 days from USA to friendly shores during WW2,...

  • my friend named his tuba louie

  • Epic Song...

  • like this if john belushi brought u here

  • @bgjames6190 get lost loser

  • id hate to be a back up singer to him
