@x0hitsme0x There wasn't a storyline that was cut; it was just intended to set the tone of their lives, in a way. Many boys had run away from home, regardless of their family situation. Some had perfectly fine families, but ran away for various reasons. As for the cart, that's the only food we see them eat all day: a roll and a tiny cup of coffee early in the morning. They had nothing, and, really, it wasn't such a "fine life" as they say, they just didn't know anything else.

@ :15 Thats James Franco! He only appears in the movie a few times, in the chorus, but that is most defently him! But he is not listed in the cast nor is it listed in his filmography.

@PiercedViolet He sure does look like James Franco! But ... his name is Mark David. In "Newsies" his character name is "Specs" because he usually wears "specs"(spectacles = glasses). Mark was in the movie "Encino Man" & the TV series "Roundhouse." If you look him up on imdb.com there's more info.
