I really can't see anyone other than hardcore JRPG fans enjoying Arc Rise Fantasia.

Resonance of Fate was excellent but it had the misfortune of being released around the same time as Final Fantasy XIII.

@college325 It's mainly only difficult because the in game tutorial does a mediocre job at explaining it. I don't feel like making a video about it, but think there are others who have, and you'll probably understand the game much quicker if you watch someone ramble about it for 7 minutes.

In general, I'm not able to keep up with the most recent releases because I don't have a job and prefer to wait for price drops. Yeah I know, I just don't shut up about Mass Effect 2 but it really sucked as an RPG because I mean yeah it gave you a lot of interesting characters but they are all horrible cliches and at the end when you have to attack the Reaper stronghold they don't even let you explore the different relationships between them and the outcome.

There is just generic failure where one dies and then Only one where you succeed with Garrus, it turns "I wonder what happens" into totally boring.

I think claiming Mass Effect 2 as being a Masterful RPG and even being on this list is a mistake. In my opinion Mass Effect 2 was just not very fun at all compared to the first one.

It felt a lot to me like the third Star Wars prequel, lots of strange and disjointed action ending with probably one of the funniest scenes/boss fights I have ever witnessed. Is that what Bioware wanted, me laughing historically at their Super galaxy ending enemy...I think not, Failure.

explanation-

while many people consider alan wake to be shit, i disagree. alan wake has a gripping introduction and ending for each chapter. visuals are great, though it does get redundent in forests sometimes. the atmosphere is there, and the story is great. this game was overlooked and bash on by critics for say it was a disappointment, but its is the near perfect game.

I agree with Resonance of Fate!!! i love that game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is my top game for 2010 !!!! seriously hope they make a squeal. Furthermore, the game is HARD which i love!!!! Because games are too easy nowadays, but Resonance of Fate Kicked my butt so Many Times!!!! However, its so satisfying when you know everything and finish the game :) Loved the story too!!

I couldn't get into Resonance of Fate because I found it tediously slow and the battle system was just very strange and weird to me, but perhaps I should check it out again O_o

i know the english voice acting is awful in most ports. But whats the point in having Japanese audio if you can't understand it ? Sounds kinda weeaboo like to me .

@jordler What does that even mean? You can get a lot out of voice work by just the delivery alone. Besides, I find the language interesting and I've lightly studied it before.

@neverchris because the thing is, despite not knowing Japanese language you can still manage to get a good idea through the character's animations/emotions. Games that have great potential can sometimes be mashed from rushed voice overs, and arc rise fantasia voice acting was inexcusable, they didn't even get the lip sync right. If your going to have poor English voice acting, then at least have the Japanese voice overs to choose between, i mean come on there had to be a bit more space to do it

Sonic has let me down too many times for me to try another 3d title. LP2 I've been mildly interested in but haven't played 1 yet so holding off. Picked up Arc Rise, haven't played it yet. Picked SMG2 but still haven't tried it yet. Was somewhat disappointed by SMG1. New DK is on my to-get list. RoF is an odd top pick.

That was defintely much more enjoyable that other top 10s/reviews that others have done. Reviews often put you off games due to the need to critisize the game more than praise and top tens either have no explanation as to why they are or so little time spent explaining why the games are good you can't decided whether or not they are work purchasing. Well done, you have made me actually look forward to games instead of buy them with a sense they will be rubbish/okay.

The first moment RoF was onscreen I thought it looked like Dead to Rights: Retribution. Anyhoo, My GOTY is MGS Peace Walker. 100 hours of gameplay, excellent story and a mix of most genres from Manager to Shooter to puzzle. Simply amazing.

rof is a great game shame its so niche but thats to be expected since the battle system takes a while to pick up i've heard. honorable mentions of games i;ve heard were good this year are god eater, 9hours9doors9people, xenoblade, tales of graces f, neptune, khbbs, and pokemon black and white to a lesser extent since they did add a little on to the series to make the new games a bit different than the older ones

meh arc rise is kinda similar to tales in that it has skits and a anime inspired artwork but outside of that its nothing like a tales game. i thought it was an ok game but i hate the battle system has some problems mainly around the party members. if the characters would stop randomly popping in and out and you have control of the party itd be such a better game. it also would of been nice to set one of the extra party members to guest

Great list. I've yet to finish SMG2 and I haven't played DKCR or Mass Effect 2 yet but my personal favorites were Sonic Colors, Megaman 10, and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.
