The rag is pleasant enough, but that music animation app. is light years ahead of the guys who simply post a single photo for the entire piece. I mean, this is supposed to be a video site.
I enjoyed following the different voices through the colors. It is a form of notation. Sort of.
I just have to say I thought that was completely awesome, and very unique as well. You should put up a vid of the completed Contrapunctus XIV (zoltan something with the permutation matrix)
Oh my word, I feel so embarassed, I thought the top ine was the horn and was wondering why it was so out of sync... and then it hit me that the horn was blue.
Great piece!!! I'd love to hear it performed by a real horn player/ pianist.
Well, huh ... this is not exactly ragtime ... I mean, it was written with the idea of ragtime in mind, and the A and B sections are pretty straight-ahead ragtime, but after that, it kind of goes berserk ... I mean, what ragtime piece has a fugue in it? So, I wonder: do you like it because the ragtime parts are good *as*ragtime* ... or do you like it because it *isn't*ragtime*?
Very interesting, my first unsubscriber (that I know about, anyway). Was it just this video, or the cumulative effect of the recent ones (this, the Krebs oboe piece, and the Sousa march) that led to this decision? And, yes, I echo Janskleig's question: which video (or videos) did you see that made you want to subscribe?
well, the videos seem to be getting more boring. i didnt subscribe to see the animation, tho thats cool, but i subscribed to hear classical music that sounds familiar but i don't know the name of. it seems to be more boring music now, sorry
Nothing to be sorry for. However, you should know: there will be more familiar stuff in the future. If you look at my to-do list (there's a link to it in the FAQ), you'll see that there are lots of well-known classical pieces in the queue. The last two pieces I posted are not very well known, one because the composer is obscure, and one because I wrote it (and I'm less well-known than obscure composers).
Which of my videos did you think weren't boring? Just curious to understand your taste.
Loved it, smalin. Not too many rags are so contrapuntal and imitative. Or have pedal points! And the whole thing has a wonderful optimism to it. Thanks!
I thoroughly enjoyed that. Great job.

the trumpet is just such an interesting addition to this piece. without it, there would just be something undefinable missing

It's sometimes said that ragtime is in the middle between classical and jazz.. and this video confirms it.

I never liked ragtimes but this is so filled with submelodies and never gets dull!
I dont mind the track being synthetic at all either. :)

I absolutely enjoy listening AND watching your videos. I can appreciate the music even more by watching the animation. =]
I know a lot of people have probably said it, but....
THANKS FOR UPLOADING YOUR VIDEOS! ^.^
Even if the music is lifeless, the animation makes up for it. =]

Just my 2 cents: I really like the animations; there are better places than Youtube to listen to music. Thanks for all the videos. More please!

Good point. I wonder how I could make it more obvious that my videos are about the animations just as much as (and in some case more than) the music?

Your videos are guiding me into the music. Thanks for that!

I love the multiple melodies... it just feels like foxes playing somewhere in the forrest :D
Thank you :D Keep up the good work :D
