  • This is the best alien invasion novel ever written. Namely in terms of realism of how we respond and the Fithps' approach to invading us. Namely taking up orbit and blowing the hell out of our infrastructure, like would probably happen(well before a ground assault. By the way the Orion(Archangel in the book) was something that the USAF and NASA were going to build. Look it up. It's crazy that it would actually work.

  • @Legionnaire18 Yeah, I figured they modeled the Archangel after Orion, that is what I really like about these authors, they ground thier books in existing science to make it more believable. Thanks for stopping by.

  • @Vhammer2010 Niven did a good job. Light years years above any invasion scenario I've seen in any medium(book or film). Even thus far the most intelligent one I've seen (Battle Los Angelos) doesn't hold a candle to it. MAYBE Visitors since it's more insipid, but I'm talking about outright conflict and noting sneaky takeovers.

  • @Legionnaire18 hmm, haven't watched any of the new V, but plan on checking out the dvd when I get a chance. Liked Battle Los Angelos in their depiction of the invasion and how the humans fight back, but it could have really gone better. You're completely correct in that it is one of the best invasion style books out there... I would love to see them do a movie on it.

  • @Vhammer2010 Here is the thing about nuV....season 1 gets REALLY good toward and then season 2 just pretty much sucks. And yeah, it'd make a great movie

  • Just Bought Footfall in near mint 1st edition hardcover for only 50 cents, can not wait to read it!!

  • @Kalmah1192 Nice find, hope you enjoy it. I'm still waiting for Audible to get it :D

  • You definitely would like Mote in God's Eye then. If you like the survivalism aspect of Footfall, then you might also enjoy Lucifer's Hammer.

  • @seekortry yeah, I have them on my reading list, been busy with S. M. Stirling's Novel of the Change series, Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it.

  • Look at you V-ham! You're a regular scholar. Very good my friend. Hopefully we will all be inspired to read more and explore new authors. Sci-Fi isn't really my thing but "Footfall" sound intriguing. Thanks brother!

  • @SnowLobo95 lol, I don't know about scholar, but I sure do learn good... lol,, thanks for watching bud.

  • @Vhammer2010 That's funny. I am reading Dies in the Fire.

  • @seekortry Cool, havn't gotten to that one yet, currently on Sunrise Lands... unfortunately, I am not entirely certain I am reading them in order, lol.

  • @seekortry I didn't know either. I only found out this is an entirely different branch from an earlier series about Nantucket going back a few centuries. Now I want to go back and read those first. Dies the Fire is interesting but I don't want to say what happens.
