  • My band used to play there as well as at the Brunswick Hotel. I guess they're both gone now... London was one of my fave cities to play: much better than too cool Toronto or Montreal.

  • @Greggo2 Oh how times changed! The scene here changed and went downhill since 2000....sad.

  • 18 was a good age for this music! Still love it.

  • If ever Canada produced a Punk classic, this is it!

  • @durrus

    I have this album!

  • @durrus Good song no doubt but It shouldn't be considered a Canadian punk classic when it was written by an Englishman about the U.S.

  • @surfmcgoogler, the Demics are a Canadian band & the song IS a CANADIAN classic. Since Canada has such a huge Anglo-Saxon, Anglo-Celtic population, it's not a real shocker that there was a British member. Teenage Head, Diodes, Viletones & other Canadian artists all had one or members from UK-Ireland. That doesn't mean a DAMN thing. Canada's contribution to the scene has been underrated enough w/o you bitching these-guys-aren't-even-ALL-from Canada. Awesome song and band!

  • @FlyUnicornsFly - and don't forget The Pukka Orchestra - some Brits who came to Canada, and Paul Hyde (from Hull, same town as Mick Ronson) of the great band, The Payolas - with Bob Rock! (I mention Ronson because he produced Payolas)

  • @surfmcgoogler what a dumb comment. Yeah, Keith was born in Manchester, but he moved to London Canada where he formed the Demics. How many American or UK bands have to deal with that sort of screwed up logic? Also, the song's not about the US, it's a rub on another London band's NYC fascination. The point being that he did NOT want to go to New York City. I knew Keith after we both moved to Toronto, he called me "London". Rob taught me my first guitar chord in 1980. Great band.

  • Fucking Kick ass song takes me way back.

  • As a wise man (Lou Reed) once said, "One chord is fine, two chords is pushing it. Three chords, and you're into jazz". Well I'd hardly call this jazz.

  • True Canadian punk! This song is the theme for anyone who has the guts to jump a train or ship, and come back with proof and encourage others!

  • These guys are the rage for sure if you want the edge without the punk funk !!!

  • The Demics were from London, Ontario...awesome band, where are they now?

  • Did not f'ing know that !!!!! Better YET !

Do you know of any other info on the boys

    little illiterate with the pc.......sooooooo....

    Help please !!!!1

  • I'm from London Ontario, and back then the Demics were my friends. Keith the singer dided in '93 of skin cancer. I don't know what happened to the rest.

  • Wow, I didn't know that. Sad, I loved them back in the day. Saw them a few times at Ceeps I think it was called that. I've been out of London for 30-years. Great band though. I had all the gear back then, jackets, pants, boots, hell, I even had hair...lol! I've still got their album in a box in my garage. I will keep it now for sure. R.I.P. Keith!

  • @yknottry1 It was the Cedar Lounge, corner of Talbot st. & King London,Ontario. The Venue no longer exists.

  • Yeah, sad I just checked it out. It says Keith died of cancer in 1996. Shame! I will listen to them again...great band! I'm glad I stumbled upon this.

  • @rickheddle Nick Perry (original drummer) is still in London. he plays snare drum with the Pink Scat Cadillacs

  • Toronto Punk was great! we need more!
