  • I'm pretty much an atheist but I love this song. It was one of my grandmother's favorites. She was a very religious woman and made a list of 6 songs for us to choose 3 from to play at her funeral (she set up everything before she passed so we wouldn't have to worry about it). My mom and sister chose this one hoping I might appreciate it as I love Irish culture. I miss my grandmother :(

  • I'm Pagan and this song makes me smile ^_^

It always has, and now I sing it to my baby son as a lullabye.

  • @beardedgecko987

That's funny because I'm not American, that's how stupid you are, I'm pure and I won't swear like an atheist.

  • If they played this at church every week I would go a lot more often!

  • I just did a statistic about religion in the comments, here it is:

    Pagan: 5

    Muslim: 1

    Christian: 66

    Atheist: 5

    Buddhist: 1

    Lol, Christians win! Again!

  • @GokzTT wow, how long did that take u????

  • @8ANNA8NZ

Don't ask, took me around 30 minutes. It was fun though.

  • @GokzTT wow you must have a very interesting life, now get down down on your knees and suck jesus off.

  • @beardedgecko987

I'm not even going to swear to you, good people don't swear to evil people, God will punish you~

  • @GokzTT Good people? Your religion is responsible for the last 2000 years of misery. And if god does exist, he doesn't care what you think of him nor I, so you can't get your imaginary friend to beat me up because I made you upset.

  • @beardedgecko987

I'm not a Christian, that's how ignorant & stupid you are, God will not beat you up, God will just send you to Hell. See how I said that? XD Owned!

  • @beardedgecko987 are you retarded?

  • @syngar99 Nope. I too had an imaginary friend at one point (of course that was when i was five)

  • @beardedgecko987 Oookay, for one thing, i suggest you get rid of that unqualified sense of superiority and condescension you are exhibiting, for another I am an atheist myself, but theres no need to walk around and tell people to their face (or in this case the very safe and cowardly online trolling you are doing) that god isn't real. I will be the first to say I will be glad when religion is gone from society, but, morons like you stomping around and shitting on everyone is both-

  • @beardedgecko987 pointless, childish and uncalled for.

These people are enjoying a song, a happy friendly uplifintg song and your first impulse is to shit on them for it?

While you may be so "enlightened" as to not believe in a higher being, you are certainly fucked up in 15 other ways. The fact that you NEED to act like a brat is proof enough of some inner deficit of your mind. One day when you grow up, I hope you learn some wisdom and self control. Now, i will let you get back to your snark.

  • @syngar99 That specific guy has been a douche, claiming that CHRISTIANS WIN AGAIN!!11! JUST LIKE IN THE CRUSADES!!11! AND THE SLAVE TRADE!!11!ONE! WE ALWAYS WIN LOL!!!

  • @beardedgecko987 Oh i see, you are a barely literate atheist. let's exaimine your asinine comments-

the crusades: you mean when muslims started blocking off pilgrims from their routes and conquering previously christian or unaffiliated lands? Riiight the poor innocent conquest driven muslims picked on by christians boohoo.

as for slavery ? are you fucking serious? do you know that slavery existed for thousands of years before Christianity?

  • @syngar99 yes I (cant believe im debating) do. But for-in particular the catholic church-to say in response to people asking why they were ok with slavery that: 'We have to be judged by the standards of the time, everybody was ok with slavery so we couldn't of known any better' begs the question: WHY THE HELL DO YOU CLAIM MORAL AUTHORITY OVER EVERYBODY ELSE?

  • @beardedgecko987 and that muslim and arabic traders were the PRIMARY source of new world slaves and that saying that slavery is in any way shape or form the result of Christianity is so fucking stupid an ass backwards, i shame myself for even giving you serious consideration? your arguments are specious your point asinine, go back to the warcraft forums junior.

  • @syngar99 erm... i don't mean to butt in, but i'm reading your comment to each other, and it seems that you guys are arguing the same point...

  • @JHBlancs not really, my point is, theres no call at all for some barely literate cunt to jump into a happy friendly song just to bitch about religion

  • @syngar99 Oh excuse me, after a view of your channel you appear to be a racist. You are also from america, and an american racist is likely to be a redneck living in the bible belt. I will no longer talk to you in a civilised way as you wouldn't understand (or you'd pretend to understand and we'd get into a long tedious lock of messaging each other, in which you misquote a bunch of people PROVING jesus rode around on a dinosaur. Ive been through it before. Id say christianity suits you just fine

  • thank you for this post! i've been looking for this song for years...no one knew what I was talking about when i asked if they knew this song. =)

  • I'm pagan and this song makes me smile*-*

oh and the song was shaker 18Th century Simple gifts

lifted often now being hawked as the 4 seasons a music no lyrics by some Belgian orchestra

  • @waarlock412 The shakers didn't belive in having children, which is most likely why their song isn't so heard of today.

  • im pagan and this song makes me smile*-*

  • What A WONDERFUL way to worship GOD!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm neither and this song is a LOT older than Christianity - it's an old Pagan/Wiccan tune that starts with "She danced through the fields and she danced through the trees..." The words were changed by the Christians.

  • @brcain99

ehhh no, it's actually another older hymn by the Shakers called "Simple Gifts".... The lyrics have been totally changed from more naturalistic lyrics to more religious lyrics, but the tune is the same and both songs were christian....

Where did you get that idea from?

  • @brcain99

ehhh no, it's actually another older hymn by the Shakers called "Simple Gifts".... The lyrics have been totally changed from more naturalistic lyrics to more religious lyrics, but the tune is the same and both songs were christian....

I see where you have gotten that mistake from. Some modern day paganists have parodied and ripped off the song.... You are not correct at all, sorry to spoil your party, but the song(music) was written in the 19th century and lyrics in the 20th.

  • @brcain99 lol you do know that pagan refers to any pre christian religion right? just because you are a wannabe wiccan doesn tmean you have any more connection to ancient celts or sumerians than i have to dolphins because i swan in the ocean once.

  • @syngar99 WHAT!? (this is responding to your comment stating that pagan refers to any pre christian religion).

You must be overwhelmingly ignorant, the egyptain relegion, the old norse mythology, the roman gods, the asian....I promised myself i wouldnt get into an argument with a moron on the internet so I wont, unless you have some some golden stupidity that your about to send me in a message. Good day to you.

  • I'm Muslim and this song makes me smile ^_^

  • @toothbrushpleasure69

So we have an Atheist, Muslim, loads of Christians, the Irish <<<, and Pagans!

    Nice unity!

  • @toothbrushpleasure69 Good for you, God wants us to love him with joy no matter what your faith is :)

  • @toothbrushpleasure69 go blow shit up faggot, the only thing that makes muslims smile is murder

  • @coolplomp Fuck you, no one gives a shit about your opinion. Racist shits like you deserve to die.

  • i love this song, i'm an atheist and this song seriuolsy is amazing.

  • I'm a child of God, and I love nature and goodness.

  • This song makes me smile because it tells the truth about who Jesus is!

  • I'm God's creation and this song makes me smile ^_^

  • Ther is no death to the Christian, just like james and John.

  • Lord of the Dance - Turning Christians everywhere into Atheists!

  • @mattmaes How do you figure this?

  • this is such an addictive song!!

  • tuuune!

  • we sang this at my friend's funeral :'(

  • @sugarandjessica Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I pray that you would know the love and peace of Christ are with you. :) But, what a beautiful song to honor your friend!

  • @sugarandjessica (((hug)))

  • @sugarandjessica Really... that is interesting. I wanted this song included at a funeral mass but was it was discouraged; to upbeat, lively. This is a favorite with my children.

  • @eastbank418 Personally, if I was the pastor, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. While a funeral is a time to mourn the loss of a loved one, it's also a time to praise God for the gift of that person, the gift of faith given to them and as a result of that faith, for the life with Him that they now enjoy.

  • @sugarandjessica awwwh -hug-I know how you feel,, for my classmate's funeral we sang this "little light of mine" and I bursted into tears,, but just think they're in a happier place now(:

  • @sugarandjessica i want this played at my funeral i am truly sorry for your loss i know that he/she is in a better place and i can promise when you enter the kingdom he/she is going to greet you at the gate

  • This is awesome.

  • Reminds me of my childhood in a Catholic Primary School with Hymn practise every Wednesday! Haha :)

  • @FrankieLovesPasta exactly the same! :)

  • Raised a German Catholic, this brings back a fond chapter in my life. Even though I am a deist, I love the music and culture of Christianity! So many good memories of easter with my gramps getting up and singing this with my family.

  • I have very fond memories of this song from High School

  • and some people think religion has brought nothing good to the world

  • "They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high

And they left me there on a cross to die!"

They make it sound as if it was fun

  • @woosnext well ... you dont take fairytails too seriously, for sure.

  • @woosnext the way we sing it in madrigal choir made it not so nice we had to speak dark and slowly. it was scary. lol

  • my grandfather used to play this.... it was awesome.

  • it is dance dance not dance then

  • absolute floorfiller

  • Really, Atheists have more faith than any of us, because they believe that "Nothing + Nobody = Everything".

  • Are they from Ulster. The brogue reminds me of the Irish Rovers who were from Northern Ireland before immigrating to Canada.

  • Used to sing this in primary school i still remember it good song :)

  • When I was little my teacher told me this was about the Pied Piper. I guess she thought it was funny; but it took until I was 13 to realise :/

  • Dance then wherever you may be,

i am the lord of the KFC,

and ill lead you all to chicken fries and beans,

and ill lead you all into the KFC

  • i remember in school we were never allowed to sing the fourth verse with the devil cause it was 'too scary' or something

  • It's not as if its my fault, i lived for five years in central america and I'm now in redneck hell. it isn't all that fun.

  • 6 people are american

  • @shaune1000 um... im american, and i like this song....

  • @willace11 haha i know

  • @shaune1000 hey, that's pretty offensive, im american and i love this song

  • @shaune1000 I am an American and I love this

  • @shaune1000 Acutally, America has over thirty-six thousands citzens, which includes 21 Presidents (even the current one, I might add) who are of Irish decent. And majority of us are proud of their Irish heratiage. So I would look up the people a bit more before you past judgement on the nations likes and dislikes

  • Heyyy, almost makes me wish GOD WAS REAL

  • I'm Atheist and this song makes me smile ^_^

  • @CamroniProductions your comment made me smile =)

  • Comment removed

  • @CamroniProductions Same here. Very nicely done! I will not give it a (Y) though, due to the nature of the song.

  • @CamroniProductions you my think you are an atheist but we know their are no atheist in fox holes

  • @CamroniProductions

What ever you do ,imagine don't imagine a Jesus in a big white robe dancing with a grin on his face! :D

  • @CamroniProductions I trust and pray that God would move your heart in order to lead you to Him. Then, you will have the greatest smile of all because of the joy of living for Christ. I made that commitment last Sunday and I can't begin to tell you the joy it brings me. God bless and praying for you. :)

  • @CamroniProductions Just curious, why does this song make you smile?

  • @CamroniProductions

The gift of the Irish to world...

  • @paulvstoaster ......what?

  • @airdroid2 It's kinda a joke

  • Racist song, Implies the jews killed jesus when the Pope years ago apologised for this misconception and said "sorry, the jews didn't kill jesus". This whole "you killed jesus" thing is where anti-semitism comes from originally

  • On the Christian radio station a couple of years ago and I loved it the very first time I heard it.

  • its fine i guess, have to sing it at school *sigh* but Christans are total f-wits with all there beliefs

  • My son and I love this song. He also attends Catholic school.

  • I went to a Church of England school and we sang it. I thought it originated in the 1960s when people were into Hindu things so some Christians aren't keen on it. I used to enjoy singing it.

  • ha ha! my lutheran elementary school days! <3

  • ag i cant figure out where ive heard this song before...it wasnt this btw...

  • To david7601, nobody said it was and Irish song. But that mean Irish groups are forbidden to sing. You need to grow up!

  • @rapier1954 Actually the comment below mine clearly states this is an irish song.
