This is The Woodshire Railroad in the Seattle, WA area. The track is Gargraves 3-rail O gauge mounted to cedar stacks. You can go to their awesome web site and learn all about the railroad.
I live in the California desert with a decent size backyard. We don't get much rain, but it is dry, hot and windy. I have lots of Atlas track and the package says UV protection. I run one of my Lionel trains with all die-cast rolling stock on my outdoor patio. Plastic rolling stock gets brittle and cracks from the sun, so I run all die-cast which the paint just fades charcoal white from the 100 + degree summer heat. Any suggestions? I want to get my rails off the patio and on the dirt.
The track is Atlas O. the roadbed i think is concrete with rocks attached. They use 6+ Z4000s, 4 for the mainlines. the yard is constantly shaded from the trees and the track is UV protected.
Really cool. :) I haven't seen O gauge outside before. I have to give you credit as even us in G scale have to work hard to keep the track smooth and gradual and we have very heavy rail. Your roadbed looks really good and smooth. Who makes the rail and how does it hold up from an electrical continuity perspective?

Sweet, was wondering if anyone else had done O scale outside, great layout and nice long trains.

That is a Y intersection that goes into the garage where everything is stored. On the way there there is a big long bridge.
