  • slowly re-discovering my past! I haven't had this since I was around 7, lived in Nigeria for about 7 years and my Nannies would make this... with Garri. One of my favourite dishes! now living in the middle east, i am hoping to find appropiate ingredients to remake this memory! Thank you for this video :)

  • @yharley2001 I can't make a video for those right now dear because I don't have the vegetables where I live. I'll make a video whenever I travel to Nigeria. Meanwhile, I have a written recipe for Edikang Ikong and Okazi (Afang) Soup on my website. Follow the link in the descripition of this video to my webiste and search for those soups using the search box when you get there. :)

  • I lived in Nigeria for a long while and this video teared my heart into million parts. Wish i was in a any mamma poot eating lira soup with ogbono! It just brought me good memories of Nigeria, almost ten years ago...thank you guys!!!

  • I love your channel. I am a Jamaican, my husband is from Nigeria, we've been together for fourteen years. Before I would go to the African stores asking the owners question on how to cook Nigerian food, or call my sister -in-law in Nigeria asking how to cook Nigerian cuisine. You have helped me so much....BTW my Husband favourite soup is Banga......Do you know how to make it? His sister told me I would have problems finding the recipe here in USA...My family and I thank you for what you do!xx

I am happy that the videos are helping you cook these meals for my brother :) I don't have a video for Banga Soup yet but I have a detailed written recipe for it on my website. Follow the link under this video to my website and search for Banga Soup there. I will also send you the link via direct message, OK? I think you can find tinned Banga (palm fruit paste) in the US. For the vegetable, you can use whatever you can find :)

  • @TheIjk07 So true dear, not only fufu, I think all Nigerian recipes and no carbs diet cannot mutually exist for one person. Maybe you can still maintain your diet by eating the soups with something that can make a lump but is not carb. I wonder if there's any such food because it is the starch in the food that makes the lump.

  • @bbsharon2011 oh, don't let me start on the rush for fish head dear lol, it's the part with the least amount of flesh yet so popular, my brother even made up a story about fish brains making someone to have a blockhead so we can leave it for him lol! I hope the soup tasted great and that my share is on the way (as usual) lol :)

  • Yummy thanks for sharing will make some soon and try it with the fish. I like the technique on how you took the fish out and put it back later. I prefer fish since we eat it a lot in Ghana lol.

  • @mznaturaldiva Trust me dear, when I prepare this for myself, I use only fish because it is the best match for this recipe. I used meat in this video to show people that they can also use meat :) For taking out the fish, I always hear my Mum's voice in my head reminding me to take off the fish whenever I'm cooking with iced fish because I always forgot to do this when I was much younger ... lol! I'm happy you caught that, this keeps it from disintegrating in the soup.

  • @RABthefirst OK, frozen Okra Soup on the way! Over-night? They have same-day delivery! lol There's really no way to improve the taste of fufu. All fufu meals get their taste from the soup/sauce they are eaten with so the more delicious your soup is, the better the fufu will taste.

  • @ileorin Don't cover the pot, don't stir the jollof/coconut rice ... these are just excuses people use when they can't cook lol! I am the Myth Buster of Nigerian Food Recipes :P so keep watching my videos and see me debunk all those myths you were made to believe lol

  • @ileorin Food processor as the name implies is a general name for all appliances that cut/chop/grind food. Dry mill is the specific name for the food processor that grinds things wiithout the need to add water. I like stressing this in my videos so that viewers (especially those not familiar with Nigerian food) will know that they should not add water to what is being ground.

  • @EdobeautyNcoralBeads oh I take every responsibility if it goes wrong because this method brings out all the taste in all the ingredients. But you have to promise me you'll follow the steps frame by frame! lol! You know I love it when the smell oozes out of your screen hehehe, I've still not given up on that app that will enable you taste it while watching! hahaha

  • I never tried ogbono with okra soup ( i feel like it is too slimy for me). But you make me want to try this recipe, looks delicious.

    I too love the fish head lol and no one dare to touch it ...

  • @kadirecipes I agree Oumou, Okra can be too slimy especially when it is too thick but it is always looks too delicious, healthy and appetizing. Who can say no to all that green colour? And lol that fish head? I will fight for it oh, especially mackerel fish head :DDDDD
