In early 70s Truckers traveled in convoys with police car in front, middle and end for safety. There was a strike going on, one truck was shot at, another a brick or rock was thrown at it. I got to see one of the convoys, I thought it was amazing.

@seattlecathy a lot of drivers nowadays do have something more high tech but a lot still use the CB's. If you watch when your driving and you see a rig with an antenna mounted on the mirror bracket then it's a CB. CB's are great for truck-to-truck communication.
