  • It's not just young people

  • They shouldve put a trigger warning!!!

  • I watch those videos to see that im not alone with my problems!! It helps!!

  • One of my videos is shown in this one, which is actually a video against self injury. What annoyed me is that I also had a self injury song that was on here with over like 25k views, but youtube deleted it! The majority of the comments stated that it actually helped people to not cut. Why keep the videos of people showing their scars and trying to promote self injury, but not the ones trying to show the negatives of it?

  • No

  • Is it only young people ?

  • I agree with these reports because their are some videos that I think are fucking stupid and triggering. I just don't think they should twist it around and show help videos and make them look like they're made to trigger (the first video) or only show the bad side.

  • There shouldve been a trigger warning on this!

  • fuck that shit it is so hard to stop and there is no way that someone can completely get over it i use to cut still think about it everyday Im in a battle with it and im loosing

  • Bull shit! You can never completely over come self harm...it's a constant struggle...a constant battle...

  • these shitheads made me want to cut more than the "graphic" videos they watched. these ignorant assholes should've put a damn trigger warning on this.

  • I've seen most of those videos...

  • Some of us dont want to quit because if it helps us deal with our shit then why should we? No harm to anyone else unless it gets out of control and for some of us, knowing that theres others out there thinking and doing exactly the same as us its not such a lonely and depressing life every single day! People should think about what theyre postung in their fucking videos before they put them up on here!!!

  • And the main video ya the one of "boy cuts himself" yea that's a boy using a phone called a razor to make fun of self harmers

  • i watch self harm videos so i will not cut. it is the only way i know to stop myself.

  • I love how contradicting this video is. Dumbass's

  • I watch self harm videos on YouTube to let myself know that I'm not the only one going through this.

  • i was def watching an adele video.... wtf happend??? lmao fail much

  • This video is triggering.

  • I think this is bullshit.. They don't know what it feels like.. Most don't want to stop.. So why force them?? Fuck off

  • I think that not talking about self harm will only drive the problem deeper. It's a shame that so many people cannot understand this.

  • You just can't understand without experience. Even the experienced don't get it.

  • @jordanprincessai ok plz leave me alone i didnt report it i was just really mad/depressed with thing going on in my life and i know how to spell just because I spelt your as ur doesn't mean i can't spell it means im lazy and i am sorry that i was mad and said that ok

  • so ur saying its bad that people know that there not alone?

    dam

  • I don't think they are saying self injury videos are bad, I think they are saying that they can be both good and bad, which is true. Although people can reach out with their videos, both saying"I need help" and also encouraging others to get help, I have seen many comments like the one in this news story that said"Why do you want to stop? It feels good."

There's a darker side to everything. The fact is that self-injury is still going on. There should be a Youtube group for awareness&prevention.

  • I am inclined toward this video's point of view. Most YouTube videos about self-harm do actively discourage it, but given that YouTube is very different from say a clinician-supervised context, you do run the risk of "normalizing" self-harm in the minds of many affected individuals. That's not what the video authors intended to do, but it occurs nonetheless...and this inevitability is something they should think about the next time they post a video. Unfortunate, but such as it is.

  • wow ur stupid i cut but u havent even hit the tip of why we do it and why ppl put videos up and i should just report this video

  • @XxPiratexDarknessxX Haha funny how you call them stupid but spell it "ur".

Maybe you don't like the video - I don't either, because it's completely manipulating the content - but what are you going to report it for? It isn't doing anything wrong. They have the right to free speech just as much as you or I. Besides. it's the official channel of a well known journalistic publication. If you reported it, I'm pretty sure YouTube would side with them over someone who can't even spell.

  • how ironic - this video is triggering! it shows the triggering content, wtf

  • biggest pile of shit.....people self harm because thats the way they deal with emotions, there is nothing wrong with it if it makes people feel better, if people didnt cut they would probley end up commiting suicide. let us do what we want, the only people we are 'harming' are ourselves....just remmeber a few cuts and scars could be whats keeping them alive.

  • Peaceland? I would rather smoke a blunt then cut. I havnt cut in forever. I quit smoking weed a year ago but if I get depressed. I'm grabbing a blunt before a razor

  • 0:44 SEXIEST VIDEO OF 2008? WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • But putting up porn-like videos is okay.... Its trying to spread Awareness !

  • When i typed in self mutilation, i was thinking more along the lines of BME pain olympics.

  • Ugh! What the HELL!!! YouTube removed all/most of the self harm videos before I could get to them...personally, I see nothing wrong with the practice if you do it right and be careful. I have been cutting for over a couple of years now, but have been on a hiatus for half a year now. I am eager to start again but unlike the times I have done it in the past, there is very little [outside] encouragement of this practice. I would rather slice my arms up then smoke a blunt anyday...

  • not all of self harmers are young either..

  • I really don't think you have the right to put pictures on of peoples self harm without their permission.

  • @TheNiamhBrett I agree- let's all flag THIS video!

  • @xootfly Yeah! People put videos on of their self harm to show people how bad it can get and to encourage them NOT to do it, this video is basically saying that teenagers spur eachother on to cut themselves, when they don't, I used to cut and i wouldn't even think of telling other people too, this news company obviously doesn't know what hell people go through to actually cut themselves & they left out the part at the end of the videos where it says "self harm is addictive" stupid news company

  • @TheNiamhBrett why? they put it up on the fucking internet!

  • @CowieMooCowxo87 Maybe, but they didn't give permission for it to be used in this video.

  • fuck the news! i hate em so freakin annoying! so tired of bullshit newscasts of stupid stories and depressing murders and death and then this....... and jesus that wasnt even triggering!

  • And you also just say oh is cause there depressed or they have meantal issues rather than feeling numb or angry or like they failed you should have taken more time to cover all the bases

  • I've seen the first vid and I'm esily triggered that is so not trjggering and any way u need to think if that's all ur gonna talk about it u don't tell people to look at these people as well people u just show like what society calls emo so ur wrong for doin that

  • Scars arnt triggering and hello if it says may be triggering they warned and you don't talk about the good part of the self harming community where they tell their story and tell u to get help and the music they play isn't spooky it tells their stories and feelings so don't go there

  • the first video showed? ive watched that. she actually told people to NOT cut themselves and then she proceeded to show her scars and then said that cutting is not a suitable option for anyone. news stories like this make me sick, they just take what they want to see and twist them around

  • Wrong.

None of these videos encourage it.

Youtube and USA Today need to think.

  • Expression on youtube is a substitute for a lack of communicating in the home, which is a tendency of a person who feels as much self hate, has as little sense of belonging, and feels as hated as a cutter.

  • Let's not forget all the videos on youtube dedicated to helping people with si, and all the people bringing awareness and help to people online.
