My son lived in Clermont, IA while a first officer on heavies for NWA-MSP. During a visit in 2005, I spoke with a family who met Alvin, he was described as "cantankerous and lovable". This movie should be required watching for anyone encountering family problems. An excellent work, thoroughly underrated. Richard Farnsworth had been diagnosed with cancer just prior to the filming of this movie, this work serves as his epitaph.

The opening, visually and with Angelo's music is so much like Twin Peaks. This movie is very easy to follow, unlike many of Lynch's films, but it is just as beautiful as any.

funny thing in that it still feels like a lynch film.
