  • I never saw this and I think it's about time I do! What a powerhouse of actresses in it!!

  • TOWANDA!!!

  • I typically watch movies with at least 10 good explosions but I love this movie. It is 1 of about 5 drama movies that I can watch. Any drama made today is pure crap. Jessica Tandy is one of the best actresses that has ever lived. I cannot think of one really good actress today.

  • @karozans There still is great actresses. In my opinion, Natalie Portman is very talented.

  • i nearly cryed at the start

  • a movie about an old days carly and sam from icarly lol:)

  • where and what time does this movie take place? i heard there was origannly a lesbian sex scene

  • @idogkiller01 It takes place partially in the 80's and partially in the 30's. There was never a "lesbian sex scene" in the movie though the director Jon Avnet referred to the food fight scene as his movie's love scene.

  • "the secret's in the sauce!" lol!

  • The most beautiful movie ever :')

  • I love this movie :)

  • Football, food, and the household. A steady difficulty the whole wide world.

  • The best film of ever!

With and incredible Kathy Bates........i still cry when i see it!

  • @Misslogon the frying pan whack, from cissaly tyson awsomne WHACK

    BOOMCC1

  • i love this movie mainly because i grew up with it.......my mom would always watch it during the summer and when we were home....... when i was a kid

  • so did they actually cook the abusive husband and serve him as barbeque to that sheriff that was investigating his disappearence?

  • i so loved this movie when i saw it 4 first time 3 weeks ago

  • As s bloke I shouldn't confess that I like "girlie story" movies - but this is a great - feel good - movie - wonderful story

  • definitivamente mi pelicula favorita la e visto tantas veces y nunca me fastidio de ella y siempre lloro al finaaal!! es lo maximoooo la amooo!!!

  • i have seen allot of wonderful movies this is most defiantly on my list

  • Haven't seen this yet. It looks pretty good, but somehow I just don't think it will compare to the book...The book was simply amazing and no doubt has a lot more detail than the movie...

  • I'm as far away from the South as a person could probably be (racially /geographically/ ideologically). Yet, this movie touched me so deeply it made me want to cry.

  • best movie ever

  • This movie is just so sweet and wonderful. Seriously, I'd reccomend it to anyone.

  • this is one of my fave movies ever! i also loved the book...

  • I absolutely adore this movie and the book! Ruth is so lovable and Idgie, wow.. I whish i can get a girlfriend like that someday..

  • so what ever happens to idgie?

  • so is ninny really idgie?

  • @vistaway3008 sadly no...Ninny was married to Idgie's brother Cleo. She had been with the Threadgoode's since she was a little girl and was raised by them (which is why she knows so much)

  • @vistaway3008 sadly no...in the book its more clear.....Ninny was married to Idgie's older brother Cleo...she was raised by the Threadgoodes' which is why she knows so much.

  • No joke i have seen this movie over 100 times, i don't think i love a movie more. The movie changed my life...and the way i look at things. I cry everytime i see it, literally. This is my favorite movie and always will be. It's just amazing and you can never get tired of watching it. I wish buddy at the start didn't die and ended up with Ruth so she didn't end up with the guy that beat her...but then i guess their wouldn't have been a story. love this film!

  • After I saw this trailer I saw the movie, the beggining was soo odd but after the story started growing on me after that women got married...OMG

This movie is amazing...I love it..I'm finishing watching it right now crying. LOL

  • After I saw this trailer I saw the movie, the beggining was soo odd but after the story started growing on me after that women got married...OMG

This movie is amazing...I love it..I'm finishing watching it right now crying. LOL

  • I remember watching this in 9th grade

  • wow... 92'

  • This is such a beautiful movie with amazing cast. I really love this film.

  • I really liked the movie, and I just finished the book...THE BOOK IS AMAZING! I prefer it to the movie now.

I recommend reading it, Fannie Flag is a great author and it really sucked me in, I really got into the town of Whistle Stop and it's people.

  • This is one of my FAV movies!

  • That's one of the most beautiful movies I've saw in my live. I really love it, and the novel of course =')

Thanks for the trailer, 5/5 =)

  • I cry everytime i watch this film. It's an all time favourite of mine.

  • i just read the book 'fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe'

  • Amazing movie!

  • I love this movie.

And I especially love Idgie and Ruth together.

  • Lindo filme...eu chorei pacas...rs

  • @kaleomcz

tbm... acabei chorando em umas das cenas... q filme lindo... as cenas são incriveis... o filme te prende a todo momento...

  • i had to watch the movie in english. i love it, its a great movie. i cried so hard.

we had a debate on wether we think ninny was idgie. who thought she was?

  • idgie,of course :) my opinion

  • @FlubberElmo23 the script was written to suggest that, but in the book ninny was a separate character with her own lines who really was practically adopted by the threadgoodes and married to idgie's brother cleo. xP

  • Yes, the final scene does seem to imply that. But even in the movie, Ninny says that she was married to Cleo. It's a single line early on. That makes the ending a little misleading...

  • Ninny's not idgie, its something the film hints at but she's the wife of the brother who teases idgie and wears glasses.

  • best. movie. ever.

  • what is the name of evelyn's friend in teh group?

  • Missy (played by Constance Shulman)

  • wow such a good movie i've never seen the trailer before they showed too much they should have let the viewers be suprised

  • TOWANDAAAAAAA l'invincibile amazzone! STUPENDA! *_* yeah...I love this film!

  • haha i remember the first time i saw it was next to my mom.

at that age i just assumed they were just really close friends.

i was surprised when i saw it listed as a lesbian romance/ what ever the other thing was

  • i love this movie! i saw it with my mom one day about a year ago! i lov eit!

  • the best movie ever! i can't stop crying while i'm watching it! it is emotionaly beautyfull!

  • probabilmente il film più bello di sempre

  • gonne watch this at school tomorrow :S BORRING

  • how can you say it's boring when you haven't even watched it yet? I know this comment was like, a month ago but still.

  • wow... did you watch it yet? changed ur mind? i watched this movie when i was just 10... loved it then n now im 14 n i still love it... so did u watch it?? do u like it?

  • this movie is awesome!!!!

  • you said it!

  • ohh, i love this movie! i watched for the first a few years ago when i would have been about 11. Even though i was so young i just fell in love with the movie and still absolutly love it. My three fave lines of the movie:

"Face it girls, I'm older and i have more insurance."

"If I was gonna kill you i'd use my hands."

"It's funny how a small place like this brought so many people together."

    My favourite movie EVER.

  • This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I definitely need to read the book. Thanks for uploading the trailer. I had never seen it before.

  • I love this movie and the book...both really good(:

  • were do you get the book?

  • I LOVE THIS FILMMMM!!!

  • Legal‼ ♥

  • ohhhhhhhh yeah!!

    this is the law!!!!!!

  • to be honest, if I'd seen the trailer before I'd seen the movie I probably would've passed cause it just doesn't look like it'd be my style. luckily, I caught the movie first and am glad I did because I adore it and I watch it once at least every few months! definitely in my top 5 favorites ever :]

  • I actually had seen the trailer and REALLY DIDN'T want to see it. But my mom and her friend were going to the movies one day and I wanted to go with... they picked the movie and I fell in love with it.

  • Great movie!

  • i love this movieee

  • best movie ever! <3!

  • i love it!

  • one of the greatest movies EVER..the book is so nice too

  • i cried during that movie soo sad:( love it tho

  • Best film ever.....

  • I love that people are still finding this movie and loving it. You might also enjoy "Unconditional Love."

  • This is my favourite movie of all time!

  • such a great movie...timeless!

  • Gorgeous movie! How intense and beautiful can a movie be? If you havent seen this one, you are surely missing something;)!

  • But you have to admit that the movie never even hints at the fact that they were a "couple." A fantastic story, nonetheless!! Great acting on all accounts, I love Masterson and Bates!

  • You watching the same movie everyone else is?

  • Seriously. It's subtle - subtle enough to ignore it if you want - but it's definately there. The first clue was WAY early - when Buddy and Ruth and Idgie walk across the river; Idgie takes Ruth's hand. She was in love with Ruth from the beginning. Then the bathing/poker scene, Idgie driving to watch Ruth in Georgia, delivering the pie ("If you really love me, you'll leave this minute" - and she does), the food fight, the ending... I think it's really obvious if you're paying attention.

  • If you see the full length version, it's a little more obvious. The book leaves no doubt that Idgie was gay... if you pay attention. What is unclear is the exact nature of the romance between Ruth and Idgie. Was it "unrequited?" That's left up to the imagination.

The casting of the film was brilliant. Mary Stuart Masterson was Idgie to the "nth" degree. It's funny that it never occurred to me that Fannie Flagg wrote so truly because she IS gay. Makes perfect sense.

  • basic girls, im older i got more injurance! *lol*

  • I love this movie!!!

  • mmm me encantan los tomates verdes fritos!

    genial peli!

  • Hahaha the last clip was hilarious!! Great movie!

  • My fav film of all time!!!! :D

  • me too

  • I have a doubt i understood that Niny Threadgoode was in fact Idgie, am I right? Please tell meeeeee pls :)

  • Ninny was married to Idgie's brother "Cleo Threadgoode". She's Idgie's sister-in-law.

  • I have always loved this movie even since i was a little girl

  • Nice Movie

  • TO WANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :)

  • Who is the old woman?

  • Jessica Tandy (rest in peace... star of tons of movies and theater... rent DRIVING MISS DAISY)

  • this is one of my favorite movies of all time. got me teary eyed

  • very good movie

  • I like the book better it gives so much depth to chracters that seam like extras in the movie

  • Loved the but, but then again I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body...LOL; No realy I am!

  • who's playing Idgie?anyone knows please? great movie

  • Mary Stuart Masterson

  • i love this movie! i havent been able to watch it once yet without crying. =D

  • Towanda was an "amazing Amazon woman" - she was someone Idgie used as inspiration whenever she did something gutsy (like jump off the train). Then Ninny told Evelyn about Towanda and Evelyn used this fictional Amazon in the same way. Think of her as Xena.

  • this is a good movie

  • I love this movie!!!! I cry everytime I watch it

  • I love this movie!

  • è un film meraviglioso!

  • i got a copy on the carboot today 25p,gonna watch it this week looks good.

  • MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIE. i like it when they rescue her from her husband

  • Both the novel and the film are two different things. Both excellent, but well...read the book. :)

  • LOOOOOOOOVE IT! great cast and great acting!

    my fave movie..

but there's only one word for this movie..

    TOWANDAAAAAAAAAAAA :D

  • .....you are captivated by the story....the film beautiful. It was a mix of vintage and 80's....not that is certainly a combo...I remember watching it the 1st time....and I use the "older and have more insurance this day as a line...." Priceless...

Jessica Tandy, Kathy Bates....amazing and so ruth & idgie played to us as amazing women who knew how to live in the era....a love story for sure...great video/music...

  • this is the best film in the world!!!!

  • Uno dei miei film preferiti..SEMPLICEMENTE STUPENDO!!!!!

  • I love it. This one of the best movies I've ever seen. And the book was the most amazing adventure I've ever had. I love idgie and Ruth and one day I wanna se Whistle Stop even though it's not what's in the book.

  • Ninny was married to Iggie's brother, so there's no way Ninny was Iggie. Unless you're not bothered by a brother marrying his sister. I think that's not legal in all fifty states.

  • She was adopted

  • In the Novel she's not Idgie, but in the movie it is not definately said, it just sparks a thought of "Hey wait a minute"

  • man my mom use to make me watch this movie with her lol but i thought it was kool

  • So what!? it is a MOVIE!

a MOVIE is the adaptation of a director from a story. He didn´t wanted his girls to be lesbians. Or if she where, what? Don´t get where is your problem...

Movies: you like them or not. PERIOD

  • Exactly :) ~Peace~ films are adaptation.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

    The book's AWESOME too.

If you watch closely, you can tell that they're a couple in the movie; it's just covered up more than it is in the book.

  • I love the book too. I forget where it was banned but it was banned for "content". Thats the reason why I read it when I was a wee one :)

  • I finished it a couple weeks ago, now my mom is reading it

One of th ebest i've read!

  • if you liked the movie - you'll LOVE the book!!! they were most definitely a lesbian couple in the book !!!!

  • I really don't care who's lesbian or straight in this film. I just saw it today and it's beautiful, I loved every moment of it. And yes, they got rid of the lesbian relationship between Idgie and Ruth, but I think the movie portrayed a beautiful and strong friendship between them. I will be looking into the book, which I hope will be even more lovely.

  • Yes it did :)also this was something like the 1980s when it came out as well so the media wasn't as evolved.

  • In the movie, they made Ruth attractive to Idgie's older brother, Buddy, who is run over by a train when he is a teenager.

  • ♥ i l♥ve this movie ♥

  • I just love this movie, and I feel that Ruth and Idgie have a strong friendship

  • i love this movie!

  • did idgie and ruth have a lesbian relationship...?

  • No, Ninny, as she says, is Idgie's sister-in-law. Idgie is lesbian and is in love with Ruth.

If you have trouble understanding the film, maybe check out on Wikipedia or finding the book and read it would be a good choice, I read the book three times already. :)

  • apparently in the book [i havent read it so im no expert, but i've read reviews] the old lady is NOT idgie, but in the movie they let you draw your own conclusions. and the story of idgie and ruth is a love story; not just a strong friendship. but the movie was aimed at middle-aged women, and they didnt think it would sell well if it had homosexual themes.

hope this helped clear the confusion!

  • this is a great movie♥

  • i l♥ve this movie almost as much as forest gump!!!

i watched last night...Happy new years
