  • whats the difference between crochet cotton and yarn????

  • I have been making this pattern for years....they are nice and thick and wash up nicely.

  • Am I the only one who only has audio on this video??

  • Love it...sent a video to my neice to crochet. I'm left handed & although I don't need the instructions (been crocheting for yrs) it's good to see someone who has thought of us. :)

  • Blast from the past Trying to remember how we did these and finally turned to the internet. Wella video and all on YOUTUBE. Thanks for you tips Teresa

  • im just now learning to crochet. im just having problems turning around and doing the second row. any suggestions? or videos that may help?

  • Finished and pleased. I edited the pattern and did the star stitch for a row then two rows of single crochet. Turned out lovely :P

  • @omegatrio I bet that is a pretty combination of stitches.

  • hey! i love your video. i made the potholder and it turned out great. but the problem i am having is when it comes out of the washer/dryer it is bunched up. any suggestions? thanks!!

  • @toothgirl6 You could try shaping it and letting it air dry.

  • hey! i've tried your pot holder pattern a couple of times, but whenever i get to the sewing part of it, i always seem to have that part raised up instead of it being flat all around. could you tell me what i'm doing wrong? thanks!

  • @pixiedust2289 When I sew mine, I sew it loosely between to stitches on each side so the seam will lay flat. It is possible you could be pulling to tight.

  • hey teresa! great job on your videos!!! i was wondering if you could tell me where you bought your needle to sew up the potholders at? i've been looking for one that isn't plastic. thanks!!

  • @pixiedust2289 I use tapestry needles most of the time. I purchase them from Wal-mart or from my local craft store. They are close to the crochet hooks.

  • @tjw1963 thanks for your help!

  • @ScrapIca It is a pencil grip

  • thanks for all your videos. I am learning to crochet and you and your videos have been the teacher.

  • @dachsiesnquilts You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • love this pattern, turned out great. thankyou for posting such wonderful videos. This is the third item I have made off of one of your videos and they all turned out fabulous.

  • @kithrakat Thank you! :)

  • wat is a pot holder?

  • @SuperJustinBieber6 This is something that you set a hot dish on so you don't destroy your counter top.

  • @tjw1963 oh, thank you

btw i love your videos!!!huge fan!!

  • I am so happy you were so kind to take the time to video an explanation and demonstration of this! bless you!

  • I have made 2 of these majic potholders. I have 6 more to go for daughter's Christmas gifts. I am new (about 2 months) to crocheting and love it. Love Teresa also. For gifts I will make the Magic Potholder, a regular thick potholder using single crochet and 2 thread, 2 dish clothes. Thank you Teresa for showing me how to do this. You are awesome.

  • I just wanted to say that your videos are amazing, Normally I have trouble with anything I have to count but with your videos I can do it because you are a WONDERFUL teacher! Thank you for posting so many helpful and great videos here!

  • @Psychokitty0889 You are welcome! I appreciate the comment.

  • I was so delighted to find this video. An old family friend, now departed, made me one of these years ago and I love it. Nice and thick, washes well. It's beginning to look worn and is stained beyond removing. I had no idea, not being a crocheter, how to get another one. I found this, sent it to another friend who crochets and she's now making me some! I can now die happy! haha. Thanks so much.

  • @gayleputt What you described is comforting memories that we all have experienced with a favorite piece that someone has given to us.

  • love it Teresa

  • i don't have a tapestry needle

  • @mannleslie79 That's okay, my mother in law didn't either so she just single crochet them together to close them.

  • Thank you :-) I had looked at some a lady at our church had made and couldn't figure out how it was done, I very much appreciate the video! Just finished my first one :-)

  • @julielromero You are welcome!

  • Love these! Thanks Teresa!

  • Nobody on youtube has been able to help me figure out how to do the second part after you do the chain :(

  • @EWilsonLife I am going to send you a playlist with the basic crochet stitches. I suggest that you practice the stitches and then try a simple project like a single crochet hat or a granny square.

  • @tjw1963 Can I get te playlist too?

  • @Lovelymars03 Yes, I will send you the playlist too.

  • @sosweetlittlegirl99 Great idea! Thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you for sharing. I have been having so much fun making these.

  • @craftinggal You are welcome. Thank you for the comment.

  • Can this be done using half double crochet??

  • @grannystunes Yes, you can use half double crochet.

  • I made these for my son and son-in-law for their Birthdays. They both do grilling, so I thought potholders would make a great gift.

  • is there a size or is it just crochet cotton yarn

  • is there a size or is it just crochet cotton yarn

  • @kristinel4christ It is 4 ply crochet cotton. You will find it on a cone or in the smaller skeins. I have noticed that Wal-mart has been carrying a lot more colors of the 4 ply crochet cotton.

  • Very Nice pattern! Thank you so much. I start Christmas presents in July, This year I am crocheting every one kitchen things. This is perfect!

  • @Charmaum This type of potholder will make a really nice gift.

  • Perfect! Thanks again

  • I use to make these when I was a little girl with my grandma. She is gone now and the pattern was lost. Thanks for bringing it back for me. I would like to make some a bit larger. Is there a formula for how many chains you start out with and how many rows you crochet? Thx again.

  • @nurse1quilter There is no formula. I just check and fold every so often to see if the edges close together.

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been wanting to try these, and I'm new to crochet, so I really appreciate the step by step videos you make.

  • @laughinglark Thank you.

  • Great pot holder . Is your hook bought like that or did you fix something to it to make it "fatter" I suffer from arthritis so this would be a great help to me when crocheting. Thank you

  • @gill70cat I use pencil gel grips on my crochet hooks. I will use plastic tubing for the smaller hooks to take up the slack movement that will occur with smaller hooks.

  • when I did the first row of single crochet, my chain curved and became a spiral.. is it supposed to be like that?

  • @zynation It is not supposed to curve. Maybe you missed some single crochet on the opposite side. That will make it curve.

  • That is very cool!!! It could even be a bag if you did handles!!

    Thank you for sharing!! :)

  • ***** :)

  • Very cool!

  • where can i get the written instructions?

  • @gcpellerin They will be on my crochet blog when I get them posted.

  • Wow... beautiful.

  • @pretty2010me Thank you.
