  • Just so you know blue can also be translated to second crash

  • dude

    love of drums is first

    second......

get some sticks a practice pad and develop the rudiments and stick control

    good luck

    its worth it

  • you missing alot of notes on rockband hahahaha jk lol

  • if they make another rockband they should make it more like a real drum set with the symbols out hovering on top. and the song itself in the game should be more like the way the artists actually play it.

  • this is how I'm goona teach my brother to play drums.

  • haha wow impressive man and yeah i think its just a tad off beat beat for not being a drummer man this is a fairly good performence just keep on playing!

  • The chart itself though it undercharted, the red interlude from hi-hat to ride and back should be red/yellow, since they're flams (and yes, RB does do r/y for most other flams). The ride also sounds like it should be faster, but that may just be the ring I hear in the studio recording.

But hey, that's Harmonix's problem; nice cover.

  • Nice job man. I'm actually the same way. I've been playing Rock Band for roughly half a year and when I went to play my cousin's drums recently (played Inside the Fire) they could never figure out how I was able to play drums when I didn't have a set xD

  • Hey that's awesome to hear

I've been playing on my IONs lately, but nothing will ever compare to a proper acoustic kit for me.

  • id say that was pretty good, but it looks kinda choppy and for only playing rock band your ok

  • this is the perfect song to play on real drums after playing rock band, it sounds sweet but its exaxtly like the rock band version

  • ahhh!, you should have done the big rock ending!, XD, apart from that, that was awesome, good job... 10/10

  • How much was that drum kit and what kind is it? And awesome video btw :D

  • I do this when I'm bored. It's really easy. Except for some songs cause u made need extra stuff or it's just plain hard

  • great times we live in... you all will be remembered as the new breed that didn't start in music for the chicks. lol. seriously i was hoping for this day to come. hopefully game developers imitate users and make this games even more realistic. (i want Jazz Trio for Wii or something like that.. a sextet if you wish)

  • This video was a great idea. Many people get on these rock band videos and just post a "get a real drum set loser" this is proof that rock band can teach you. Thanx

  • I'm sorry, where in my comment did you see me pronounce myself as a drummer? Did you not watch the video before you posted? I said "it can teach you", I didn't say it would make you Neil Peart.

  • I never said you called yourself a drummer. I said that people normally do... I probably word it wrong but either way, Rock Band does teach you "The Basics" and its "peoples choices" if they want to go further into drumming.

  • Apology...accepted...I think?

  • Hey, I watched this video a few months ago, and I loved it. Honestly, this was the inspiration for me to get a drumset, which I purchased today. As soon as I receive it, i will be doing exactly what you are doing here. I just wanted to say thanks!

  • Good job man. I started doing the same thing today to help me learn to play the drums faster/better. Keep up the good work!

  • impressive

  • good idee to do this with your real kit.

  • nice thats what i wanna do when (and if) i get a drum kit

  • dam that was nice for a non drummer u should be 1

  • I'd love to.

Unfortunately I'm on a student budget and living in an apartment. Once I finish my degree and get a house of my own, a drum kit is one of the first things on my list though!

  • that's cool man. i've been plannin on makin a vid like this soon. ur friend's drums sound the same as there supposed to for that song. but my cousins drums never seem to be tuned right for any song i wanna do...

  • how you split the screen?

  • hahah thats what im gonna do to learn all my favorite song on rock band thanks for the idea

  • impressive for only a few hours of practice haha

  • Oh btw Great Job

  • your sick man

  • easy to transition from RB to real, in my opinion

  • Lol well i hope u get better...and practice more haha...

AND bronzdog u are an official douche

  • Heh, aren't you the bright one. I bet you read the description at LEAST a hundred times before posting that.

  • WOW. You are retarded. He's playing Vasoline on the drums and reading the notes off of Rock Band. He did not mod his drums so you can play Rock Band with the drums.

  • LMFAO!!!

    That just made my day

Note to Rage: If he couldn't figure it out even without reading the discription... Well.. That's our future

  • hahaha hilarious!

  • give this guy a thumbs up for his brigthness

  • @Bronzdog LOL! what a dumbass

  • @BronzAss you read the description 1000 times i bet!

  • @Bronzdog because he's not using the rockband pads dumbass, you have to use the pad and hit it at the right time in order to get points for the notes, he's using a real kit instead. Don't call people retarded when ur the one who is NOT understanding what's happening in the video

  • too bad u cant do this with guitar hero lol

  • haha that would be epic

  • omg that would be amazing!!!

  • nice

  • outstanding!

  • ur good

  • This is how I'm gonna have to do it for a while when I finally make the transition from Rock Band to real drums!

  • wouldnt you fail?

  • its in practice mode

  • Damn, nice job!

  • what color is the tom and floor drum(not foot) and can i use the crash as the ride too j/w thanks

  • nice job, its funny because before rockband none of my friends or I had too much rhythem because of it we picked it up with our ears, and the other day we were at sam ash and my buddy grabbed the sticks and did run to the hills in the store lol

  • Man, I love this idea! I would love to try it myself (2-3 months Rock Band Expert drums experience), alas, I don't have access to a drum set. :(

  • I think this proves that rock band does help you learn to play real drums xD

  • This proves that people can MIMIC playing the real drums

  • that was sick dude

but i didnt like how the ride cymbal sounded

  • i thought blue was always the low tom

  • During fills it is, yes. But more often than not it serves as the ride cymbal.

Green also doubles as a floor tom for certain charted fills, and yellow is high tom for fills.

  • Well you're a drummer now man! That was awesome! Good work, and keep it up!

  • Now that is cool. I am a big fan of the beat on this song. Good job man.

  • freakin awsome

  • this actually looks pretty cool.and sounds nice to.

    plan on doin any more?

  • Definitely. Only problem is I don't have access to a drum kit right now. So until I can either buy my own or find another friend with a drum set I can use, this project is kind of on hold.

  • i am willing to wait :)

  • dude, it would look cooler if you didn't have the picture in picture.

  • The best part of playing Rock band with real drums? It's all you. Putting it into practice mode effectively removes the drum track. This makes it better than other (regular) covers because there's nothing to cover your mistakes with. Good job.

  • Yup, that's exactly it. What you hear in the song is all me. It does make it a little harder to learn as you play, since you can't just rewind and listen to how the drummer actually does it and then try again.

  • Dude, i play real drums and have had 3 months of practice with a music teacher and i still cant convert rock band to drums like that. So far ive tried move along and welcome home. Welcome home went good but move along failed horribly.

  • Vasoline is very repetetive (although tricky to get the hang of) so it translates very nicely from RB to real drums.

Run To The Hills, Train Kept a Rollin and Flirtin With Disaster all translate pretty nicely too.

  • yah, i have practiced converting and i can do rtth, tom sawyer, and the drum solo of wgfa.

  • Dude you just sold me on a real drum set. Nice vid

  • Awesome.

I'm moving out soon and so now I'll be looking at a kit of my own instead of leaching off my friend.

    Good luck!

  • Dude, that was only a 4 star. There are plenty of gold stars for this song on youtube.

    *Sarcasm?*

  • Not all of us are up to that level yet ;)

Can't you just appreciate me for who I am???

  • I've been considering learning how to play real drums after doing well on expert on rock band (had it for 2 weeks, have 2 tiers on expert) and this video all but assures me rock band helps with real drums a lot.

  • Yup. Rock Band certainly won't teach you everything you need to know about drumming, but it's an excellent start. You'll probably be able to skip several months of real lessons this way.

  • broncos7elway-I am also tempted to play real drums after getting past tier 8 on expert...

  • wow this is pretty sweet! ur really good

  • very nicely done.

    props.

  • very cool. good job.

  • Thanks a lot. It was a lot of fun making this vid.

  • nice job i play real drums and rockband and it deffinatly helps to play rockband for timeing and stuff

  • I totally forgot to keep my own beat during this take. Even so, Rock Band managed to keep a fairly decent beat for me. Pretty neat.

  • LOL!!

  • Never played the drums huh? Who says you can't learn anything constructive from playing video games.

  • My friend's parents once told him that video games would do nothing but rot his brain.

I'll be sure to show them this video next time I see them.

  • I once read somewhere that Rock Band drums were almost like real drums.

    Iguess it's true

  • In terms of motions, the Rock Band drums are physically identical to real drums, except you don't need your left foot in Rock Band.

As far as layout, it's a little different. Rock Band ensures that you never have to cross your hands over. With real drums, every time you hit the hi-hats (yellow pad) you're crossing over. That and the real drums are more spread out.

But as you can see it translates very nicely, so I would say yes, they are very similar.
