Very sad video. I think I am fortunate to not really understand the view expressed. People around us do grow vegetables and we talk amongst neighbors and have a sense of community and fortunate to have a family who tries to support each other. Can reach out to the community of the world on-line and can help send some money / aid to someone half way across the globe. I'm not an island.

I felt much more of an island grasping to reach out to others before had the internet. Perhaps this colors my view by my age and what was before? There are avenues to connect with people who share interests, even across the other side of the planet. Can even ride on the international space station (virtually).

@TheSpartacat I learned from day one of life that parent's aren't necessarily benevolent, and I've made sure not to repeat the cycle in my own life. I got out, and was able to make sense of things early on. I think that created my own, instinctive distrust of government and anyone who paints themselves as an authority over me. I know what's best for me, but they have an agenda that acts against that wisdom.
Like you, I spotted that early too. The more i studied it, the more parents i saw profusely swearing love for their children, whilst simultaneously suffocating them, bullying them, indoctrinating them, belittling them, and trying to get their thinking to comply as though they were an extension of their parents... and they genuinely think thats 'love'. "love" in their world, means to try to mold their kids, as though that child isn't already worthy of genuine love, as they are.
To be honest, I think that being mentally prepared is as important as anything else. When I think back to my mindset a couple of years ago, I wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds, but I've come along way! And I'm not afraid to say that either! :)

Very sad video. I think I am fortunate to not really understand the view expressed. People around us do grow vegetables and we talk amongst neighbors and have a sense of community and fortunate to have a family who tries to support each other. Can reach out to the community of the world on-line and can help send some money / aid to someone half way across the globe. I'm not an island.
I didn't know the full extent of those monkey experiments, but did know about them. Sick stuff.

Your video is an example that we are not islands & can reach out. With the internet I have been able to learn about so much that otherwise would be closed, such as about factory farming. I felt much more of an island grasping to reach out to others before had the internet. Perhaps this colors my view by my age and what was before? There are avenues to connect with people who share interests, even across the other side of the planet. Can even ride on the international space station (virtually).

When she's stroking that little one and its starved of affection, then the other one where she places it back in the cage and it helplessly tugs on the bars - those are identifiable human emotions. We know what that means instinctually.

@TheSpartacat I learned from day one of life that parent's aren't necessarily benevolent, and I've made sure not to repeat the cycle in my own life. I got out, and was able to make sense of things early on. I think that created my own, instinctive distrust of government and anyone who paints themselves as an authority over me. I know what's best for me, but they have an agenda that acts against that wisdom.

The more i studied it, the more parents i saw profusely swearing love for their children, whilst simultaneously suffocating them, bullying them, indoctrinating them, belittling them, and trying to get their thinking to comply as though they were an extension of their parents... and they genuinely think thats 'love'. "love" in their world, means to try to mold their kids, as though that child isn't already worthy of genuine love, as they are.

The world we've created is a long way from personal comfort isn't it? We've been convinced theres comfort in it, but very few people really enjoy their life. There's something deeply wrong with that. The greatest comfort of all is knowing you are not alone, and knowing that you can also rely on yourself too, and thats something that's severely lacking from what i can see around me.
