  • you could of not get smash in the head if not being racist if the DAMM FUCKING CANADIAN PEOPLE CAME AND LITTER AND FUCK

  • Wow, that's some gash on the head. Did you go to Insight for treatment before the hospital? The nurses there are WONDERFUL!

  • I thought it was a joke video when hes like I just got bottled ahha,

  • im 18 i walk down eas hasstings and all those ghetto places and thats never happened to me befor they aint that scarey there just crack heads after all they are ppl to u kno

  • vancouver dope. i love it

  • Moustafa Alich lol I can't believe I randomly stumbled across this video. It was so well done! It is truly unbelievably sad what is going on down there. My boyfriend used to live on Hastings 2 years ago and the stories he has about it are truly unbelievable. I still can't believe how many decades it has been that bad there. BTW it's Laylee (from Central) :D

  • 0:26 what a fucking entrance.

  • nice, you deserved to get bottled for blowing this shit hole out of proportion. first of all, it's one of the DIRTIEST, not the roughest...

  • best city in the world coz of the quality of gear!!!

  • Homes not games!

  • how is it the best city in the world? Because the other side is amazing. your on the wrong side.

  • @xxilovemcxx yes,,British Columbia is very nice,,but some lazy people do not wanna make their life better,,Like everywhere in the world,,u can not force them to live at home,,they like to be on the streets

  • @mocny01 There is a lot of truth to this statement. Many of the addicts think of the Eastside as home, the other people on the streets as family, and there is a real sense of community, even if it is completely disfunctional. Not a lot of motivation to change things when they are happy with the lives they have.

  • @trytheveal74 I dont think that they are happy,,many are lazy but some are lost in labirint of their own mind,,,Helping them is very hard,,,we can not enter their minds,,Their minds torture them,,and keep them in slavery of addiction and life on the street,,very sad, and more sad that those who do better do not understand street people,..

  • @mocny01 There is a lot of mental illness on the eastside. "happy" is relative. These guys feel like they are with family. There is a sense of security in the streets. Lots of them fear leaving and attempting a "normal" life. It may be lazy, I don't know, but it is disfunction.

  • @trytheveal74 You are right,,most just gave up, feel down,,not patient ,,, they dont wanna spend their life at work and live for work,,,Who is right? we or them?...

  • the picture at 1:13 is indicative of who mans best friend is... truly beautiful!

  • fucking drugs! why you destroy peoples lifes?! Just stay in cannabis

  • oh and of course they had to play imagine

  • lol it's so easy to avoid this area it's not even funny. that's why it has nothing to do with how liveable the rest of the lower mainland is

  • WHO THE FUCK THREW THAT!?

  • lol

  • what u doing walking down the alley with obvious tweekers there?

  • @xXphunkyXx MAKING A VIDEO :)

  • thug shit

  • im moving there next week lol gunna be good time lol

  • Just letting you know, botswana isn't that bad of a country... It has the highest GDP per capita in all of africa

  • I'm more comfortable walking down east hastings than I am any american city. It's highly unlikely that they will cause you harm unless you give them any reason to.

  • @shurikenstar I think the falling bottle is a joke because the blood stain looks fake.

  • @Yoshuayovel I know, eh?

It's just some SFU hipster trying to make a good presentation for his crim class.

  • I took a wrong turn when I went to Vancouver when I was 17 and went down there.

  • roughest areas in NA? do some research buddy! fo sho! Harlem? Compton? how about these particular places?

  • why are they violent, the street junkies in downtown toronto are harmless, not violent at all

  • get the army in there, and SHUT IT DOWN!!

  • at 0:24 thats my house behind him and i have tons of problems getting harrased and all plan on moving in a month

  • roughest place in north america? some body needs to goto Compton...

  • I like the a

    capela soundtrack.

  • I was in van last week and there is no way that its the best city in the world, whoever came to that conclusion was high on crack..... you cant afford a frigin house, and the city in general is not well kept, it does have some nice areas but over all there is no way i would live there......

  • @clomar it should be called most over rated city in the world

  • "Roughest area in North America" ?? You need to visit a few other places.

  • @tfs1911 Have you been there? Anyone whos been there wouldn't say that.

  • having a camera around hastings is very disliked ..thats prob why you got the bottle to the head

  • spare 50 cents ?

  • everybody down there is either addicted to some type of drug or mentally handicap and as far as that bottle that guy was a dumb ass you just don't go down an alley on the downtown east side of Vancouver because everyone down there is smoking crack or jaking and you don't know what state of mind they're in especially if they haven't had their fix in a few days i know because my dad lived in east van for his whole life and part of mine and my bro's life but there are some good people down their

  • shows the reality of it and i love the ending where it asks you that question

  • 1:14 awwwweeeeh! :(

  • nice video !! many of those homeless people have mental illness whom were kicked out of the mental hospital by the city. they would rather see them die out one by one or just be high on crack all the time. so sad.

  • yah but its relatively small, there are only like 20 000 homeless people which sounds like alot but is where most of the ones in all of western Canada converge. But go to some of the gettos in America where there are 100 000s of thousands of people, or Mexico city where there are slums the size of Vancouver as a whole.

  • I lived in East Van. It's nowhere near as bad as parts of Los Angeles.

  • @BetterDoYourHomeWork Yeah, you're right, however East Van is pretty damn bad. The only reason places are worse in LA is because of the whole gang fights, and the reason that the hoods of LA are more or less suburbs, not populated areas like East Hastings. East Hastings isn't really an active place for gang activity where people are dieing left, right and centre. However, you take a walk at 2 am in the morning down there, the posibility's of getting mugged are pretty damn high.

  • you probably got bottled because you're wearing a leather jacket and filming like a douche bag.

  • @PhilDesigns when will people get that asking permission to film someone when they are at thier most vulnerable would be polite? suck on it.

  • @PhilDesigns He got bottled because crackheads are the the lowest scum bags of society. Hell, even pedophiles contribute more to society then crack heads. This is Canada, you should be able to wear a leather jacket and film in public any time you feel like it without being attacked.

  • @mookixox "this is Canada" can't defend against human nature, especially when you're throwing a man parading wealth wanting to exploit their chemically altered nature in an area where majority are drug addicted and or poor, they've got enough problems (by choice) and have found an area where they can muster away from people they know are living much better lives, some of them may be harmless but there are also those who are criminal minded and under the influence, so in a way he asked for it.

  • @PhilDesigns Being a crack head and throwing bottles at people is hardly 'human nature'.

  • @mookixox read what i said.. "chemically altered nature"

  • it is sad but people choose to live the life the way they want to.

  • @happygolucky979 the truth right there

  • if u r crim students, u should know crime rates are statistcally dropping in canada, try living in the states, there are places are even worse.

  • @fad7601 well as a crim student, I do realize crime rate don't tell anyhting about the community safety. More crime rate seems to be bad but it means more police are out there catching people, less crime rate seems good but it coud mean police is not doing their job. States could be worse in gun control and homicide and such but the whole point about this video is substance use and drug addiction. Also the fact that richest area in Vancouver is few blocks away from this Downtown Eastside of Van

  • @sunoya90

This place is worse than NYC!!! (I'm a native NYer). About as bad as San Francisco's Tenderloin. Horrible place.

  • @fad7601 Yeah, but dude, once you get to a certain point of poverty and "ghetto" part of town such as East Van, it can't that much worse than this.

  • @fad7601 have you ever been to east hastings?????

ive been to detroit, apparently the worst, ppl in detroit talk about east hastings

  • @fad7601

Try living in Mexico... this place is like the portal to hell.
