@Jeepacreepah01 I'm with you dude. After alternative rock died with Billy Corgan's career solid, sweeping music became VERY rare. Everyone wanted to go too far into electronic or thrash metal. It's rare you get a song with good music that allows you to hear the lyrics.
@mrfrogbutt1 I was in chicago about two years ago and it was after a long night, waiting on a trian platform, this stoner drunk started singing this song. I couldnt believe I could remember this song and that a stoner, of all the things they would say, could remember this song either.
Nothing is better than hearing this song on the radio after all these years!!This song is made for blasting and I praise everyone in this talented band that had to do with this wonderful musical excursion.Toto rules and always will!!Thanks for sharing this great video and song!!
reminds me of this one time when i was a steamboat captain and had to go into the depths of the congo and find some renegade ivory merchant that had convinced the natives he was a god. Weird situation all together
This song reminds me of Florida. I heard it for the first time when I was there on vacation a little more than a month ago. Good song, catchy tune too
i always though it was "i miss the rains down in africa" for like the past 20 years...now i can make fun of this song anymore...."i miss the road bombs down in africa, i miss the blood shed down in africa.....much more entertaining if i sing it to you.
@whylovenick why at the time music videos wer ein their infancy and so it was a new format. the director was proably like," Whats a music video?" and his assitant was like, " We're supposed to be doing a mini musical but to sell only the band and the song." and so the director was like, " Okay, so this song is about how a couple of blokes fell in love with africa. Right, get a black girl, we'll make her a librarian, and so the band is singing about her because she symbolizes africa."
i miss the past songs , so many bands had music to listen to , now there are just a few that can be tolerated for just a few minutes ,, what happened ,, oh ! nintendo sega ,, atari,, ,,nintendo,,, nintendo ,,, stop, wait,, im taking the game away from my thirty year old , right now ,, wait my oldest is 28 who is that ,, !!!! another one bites the dust,,,,,

This song gets my vote for the worst song of the 80's. The only good thing about it is you can make up funny lyrics to it..(I took a crap down in Africa)
You obviously dont know much about music do you? It is actually a really good song if you listen to it properly..
I bet that you are a beat person.. you listen to a beat and if you dont like it then the song is crap.. well newsflash.. there is more to a song than just the beat..
I'm a third generation musician .I grew up on everything from Beatles ,Stones from Yes to Merl Haggard to Roxy Music. I don't like beat or could I pick it out of a lineup.I just know when something sucks so bad it make me laugh and make fun of it.P.S how does one listen to something properly ?I'm a lyric /melody guy.Good Luck carry that flame and be happy
wtf r they talkin bout, is it bout a girl he likes, "100 men cant take me away from you" or is he just rlly concernd and stuff bout the starving ppls in africa? no offense inteded, i just would like to know, sum1 please comment.
they say "it's gonna take alot to drag me away from you it's nothing ever 100 men or more could ever do" = nothing can stop him from reaching the 1 he loves...
Mike has been one of the *baddest* groove cats of them all. He and Jeff were simply a joy to hear. (I know Hungate's on the track, but listen to "Animal" for true Porcaro Pocket"). Mike's not playing right now-health issues have sidelined him. I miss that sound.
I love this song ....so unlikely to whatever crap we are listening today to
