  • I always thought that Kenneth Branagh looked so terminally depressed as Wallander. This British series is not a patch on the Swedish. I much prefer Wallander played by the other two actors.

  • thes is verry god

  • vad bra det var

  • det var jätte bra

  • I DVR em! and then watch as many as time allows on cold and gloomy days!

  • den var jätte bra!

  • MissHeyken - You Bet!! Truth be told, I love Kenneth Branagh just standing there, doing nothing. What an actor!!! :}

  • I've been watching this series through netflix: it is freaking amazing. Apart from the amazing Swedish scenery, Kenneth Branagh's brilliant acting and the elaborate and lovely plots, the cinematic effects and photography used in this series is just too much!

    I strongly recommend it.

  • God. I LOVE Kenneth as Wallander.

  • WALL-ander!

  • This is bloody hilarious. Why is it that the English-speaking people almost never can settle for subtitles like the rest of us (except the countries where dubbing is big...)? The Swedish movies are really good, AUTHENTIC, you know, SWEDISH. If it ain´t broken, don´t mend it, you now...

    (Finn here ;))

  • Because the Swedish-Wallander-movies really suck.

  • if you for real think that the english wallander-movies are better than the swedish ones, you have one part missing somewhere...

  • because english speakers are lazy and can't be arsed to read subtitles

  • @KezWasHere I'm English speaking, and watch both. Both series are excellent and to dismiss the BBC version purely on the grounds that it is produced in English is just plain stupid. Neither are better or worse that the other they're just different, different feel, atmosphere and end product. To insist that any production of any novel/story should only ever be produced in the original lanuage is just plain daft.

  • @KezWasHere : British television does show the Swedish Wallander movies with Krister Henriksson. I am now enjoying the second series and am sad to learn that Henriksson wants to stop making them, as I think he's excellent. The shows are shown here on the channel BBC4 and are in the original swedish with subtitles.

The BBC did also make the English language ones with Branagh, but personally I prefer the Swedish original.

  • @KezWasHere

Well I'm "English-speaking people" and I can tell you I much prefer hearing the actors give their own performance accompanied by subtitles, as opposed to the constant distraction of another actor badly dubbed over the top of them. In either case though, a bad translation can kill more poetic or period dialogue.

  • I've seen bits of this show and the best part of it is the way the keep the Swedish culture. Whenever they walk into a home of a family, you can really tell the house is Swedish, by the decorations and the furniture. 90% IKEA, for sure!

  • Yes, so now they just need to learn how to say his name properly LOL

    It's "VAl-lAn-derrr" (open A's) -

    In Scandinavia "w" is a "double v", you see - so it's pronunced like a "v" ;-)

I can see that you know this, so this is for Kenneth B. and co. LOL (DK here )

  • @Bjovolf I caught onto that when I watched the Swedish ones lol

  • Kenneth Branagh is (at least) as good as the Swedish actors.

  • Now we need Inspector Martin Beck, who precedes Wallander by 26 years. And why do all (Swedish) 'tecs have to be brroding loners with no life outside the job?

  • Because that's the way they are over there ...

    Just kidding ( Dane here :-) )

  • My brother-in-law is half-Danish and he sometimes makes disparaging comments about the Swedes. What is it between the danes and the Swedes?

  • we are arch-enemies by tradition.. that's why :P

  • haha, what an american trailer on an european production:P didn't really fit

  • OMGZ I cannot WAIT to see this!! Kenneth Branagh is so awesome :)

  • Well, Kenneth might be a good Wallander, but i doubt he'l be as good as the swedish actors.

Kenneth can't really portray Wallander as he was meant to be. He is way to wellkempt and he looks too young, but he might be a good Wallander, but the swedish one's are better in my opnion.

  • Yeah, it was weird watching this with all the British people in it xD I was like...but...they're supposed to be Swedish...and they sound British...aagh xD But Kenneth is still awesome.
