  • The DJ played this song at my Dad's 5th wedding reception. Let me tell you. That reception went from "typical wedding etiquette to "awwww shit!" as soon as you heard the first note. You could hear everyone's forks hit their plates as about 500 chairs slid out. Every seat was empty. Everyone from one to 92 was doing their own thing on the dance floor. I can only hope that one day my music will affect people this way.

  • I remember this track! a DJ friend who was much more eclectic and well traveled (USMC brat) than the rest of us small-town country kids turned me on to this, Parliament, EU, Gil Scott-Heron, Little Feat, and a ton of other cool stuff. This is just plain old good jams!

  • DRIVER 76!!!

  • My is son is 12 and love this song to death. All black and hispanics should share this music with their kids. This is the foundation of rap and hiphop. Old school.

  • I'm believin that Chuck Brown is the Godfather of Go-Go music in DC. Saw these brothers perform at Duff-A-Go-Go in Suitland Maryland back in '77 before they hit big. I think they were like the house band or something. Lord have mercy! Burned the joint down! Gotta shout out to Chocolate City....when they party....they party hearty!

  • @MrBillc1023 Do you remember the Utopia at Dodge Park Shopping Center? What about the Chateau Night Club?

  • im 14 and im a drummer and I APPRECIATE MUSIC LIKE THIS!!!

  • Driver 76 made me like this music.

  • this should be played at the white house and capitol building, if it hasnt already

  • GET OFF YOUR ASS & DANCE !!!!

  • this my daddy's label!!!! SMB r.i.p. I luv you daddy im gonna see you there but first i gotta live it out!!!! aaahaaa

  • During my sophomore year of college, this song came out and some people thought Brown said, "I feel like Buck Belue" a local football hero (widely known now). So my best friend and I changed the phrase "gimme the bridge yall" to "gimme the ball yall." We had a blast screwing up this song.

  • @SgtRock57 That's hysterical!! I remember that guy Buck! He was a quarterback at UGA -in fact he might have been there with Herschel Walker. That must be epic to have your own theme song, even if it's purely accidental lol!!

  • @readmore2008 LOL! Aint that the truth!

  • Ah love it man !!!!!!!!

  • Love that go go music!!!

  • Y'all don't know nothin' 'bout this here... Haaaaa!!

  • OLD SCHOOOOOL!

4:17 - the heart of pure GO GO

  • I loved growing up in D.C. where this s*** was being blasted everywhere! One of the most underappreciated Godfathers of funk as there ever were. You think this is cool, you gotta see a show...non-stop party! Love you Chuck Brown!

  • @sidirom >I know how you feel! This jam was at every party the year this dropped (78) in NYC and Long Island and I was at every party with my friends. How I got through college is beyond me the way I partied! LOL! This band was definitely under-rated big time! I hear it now and start dancing! Saw him at the Apollo Theater and he brought the house down!

  • @sidirom HE's the GODFATHER OF GO GO !!! He did a halftime show at the REDSKINS Game...I had sold those tickets before I knew he was playing the ha;ftme show ! :-(

  • Ring a bell? As you might have noticed Nelly stole the rythym track with the his song "hot in Herre"

  • @MrTigerwoods59 and chuck got shit loads of royalties!!!

  • Who is this Buster Lewis gentleman I keep hearing of?

  • the godfather of SOUL! :)

  • ALL-TIME CLASSIC!

  • Respect from Paris France just kills !!!!

  • ahhhhhh the godfather of go-go. this is one of the funkiest grooves out here.

  • 1 person disliked this? 1 person is off his meds

  • @Rh3ttD4v1s Marion Berry hit the dislike buttone because Chuck Brown refused to help him smoke the crack out of the Liberty Bell.

  • Saw ol chuck perform this at the half time show at the skins game this year, needless to say, the best halftime show I ever seen, ever...

  • Big thanks to Dj Funktuall who got me deeper into funk. And yeah, smart move by Nelly to sample this. (-:

  • I played this tune on the new jukebox at the club I go to and everybody loved it!

    AND WE"RE REDNECKS!

  • @AmishEcstasy RIGHT ON!!!!!

  • @AmishEcstasy Funny :-) Good music is just that....... I love Randy Travis....and I'm black..... ha ha

  • i feel like bustin loose Bump bump bustin loose!

  • Great tune, why is this labelled as Go-go music, is there much difference between this and mainstream funk?

  • who ever has that album record hold onto it

  • @foxnews63 A wise advise....I purchased it back in the days. It ain't for sale!

  • FUNK 4 LIFE!

  • Every time i hear this I feel like bustin loose! Funny I met the manager who promoted Chuck and the Soul Searchers. He was this unassuming white guy who moonlighted for a black car service in NYC. We moonlighted together. He was a cool guy! Great tune.

  • free free a deek....love it

  • Where did the FUNK go? Please bring it BACK. Right on Chuck!!!

  • Chuck Brown is the Go Go King!!!

  • GoGo Classic all the way. Damn funky stuff, always on my ipod. It's one of those make-you-feel-so-damn-good songs in the history of music. Thnks Chuck!

  • Who's the dickhead that didn't like this?!?

  • @Carillonmaster

Obviously, that one person DIDN'T feel like bustin' loose...

  • gimmedabridgeyall !

  • this is hella funky! its b-side, 'could it be love', has gotta be one of the most sensual tunes in the history of soul! its absence from youtube is a tragedy!

  • i'm smoing creeper

  • marcus miller on bass

  • @BASSMANJ5 pretty shure it's jerry wilder

  • The production values on thsi recordign boggle the mind. Layers of percussion, more layers of keyboards, vocals, handclaps,

horns, bongos, cymbals, funky rhythm guiatr, bangin bass,

all laid upon each other like a perfectly built entity that comes more to life each time it's played.

  • i dunno why; but this song tickles the hell out of me

  • A master piece !!! still in my top 10. Trouble Funk!!!!

  • A master piece !!! still in my top 10.

  • I believe he's talking about the music term "bridge" which is the instramental break between the lyrics. it's has been used in many old blues songs and rock tunes also.

    DISCO AL

  • The kind of funk that worms into your mind and wiggles 4ever ! Olde English 800, some brown weed rolled up in cutcorners zig-zags, and some fine big-booty sistas with jerri curl juice slangin on the dance flo. The Workshop in L.A. on Western and 91st in 1978 was the get high, get girls and get funked up spizot in the hood.
