OS X is better than vista but Windows 7 Beta is pretty near so I think people at Cupertino need to come out with new and fresh ideas or this will end up like the last time with a revolutionary Mac that never past 5% participation in market after Microsoft "create-copy" windows from OS. I see problem for Google too windows live is not so far from Google Apps so Microsoft have joined the party late but it´s catching up really quickly.

That might count for some things, but not for Microsoft. I've run the beta recently, I've got to say, it's better. I like the GUI this time, it's not so dark as it is in Vista. It's more like a KDE environment now, now I can finally have something new for my Linux and Windows dual boot. But still, who would spend money on Windows 7? And for the people that will download and crack it I would like to say, choose open-source if you're so fond of free software ;) Then support it! Install Linux!!!

If you want quality you have to pay for it. Apple is a perfect example of this. That windows mobile device is an eyesore and so are most PC's. No doubt someone will bring up alienware and how they look good but then are they cheap? No. The pure fact that microsoft's OS is so similar to OSX or Ubuntu is proof enough that apple etc are doing it better.

Have to say though, touch is a bit unrealistic as a UI on a desktop pc. Can you imagine just how much your hands and arms would hurt after long periods of usage? Not to mention the fact that typing would be an absolute nightmare. Maybe on a tablet, but on a desktop, nah!

Vista is probs better. Really microsoft should sell xp again but put directx 10 and windows media player 11 and that on it. Dont change nothing just add directx 10 and make all games work with it. XP dont take up mach ram, processing power and is fast.

Lol, as a matter of fact I have a PC with a QX9650 and two GTX 295's and 8Gb of 1600MHz RAM, Vista runs fine, but this will run a hell of a lot better.

People with crap PCs won't upgrade exactly, they'll come shipped with it standard. Dell did it with Vista too, people want the newest OS, even if they're PC can't handle it. This outperforms vista and XP, and it looks much better imo. IF you don't like it just boot into the pre-installed XP color scheme.

Buddy, no one agrees that XP should be the only OS from Microsoft. It's old, outdated, SLOWER THAN WINDOWS 7, and boring. People don't want old stuff, they want to have the new, innovative stuff in their computers. Windows 7 is both new and innovative.

It uses much less RAM than both XP and Vista any any given time, the difference in looks is like a 21-year-old college girl (Win 7) as opposed to a 45-year-old woman (XP), and supports DirectX 11 (no, that's not a typo).

In my opinion it does look like OSX, and all those other features are also stolen from other developers (hints: Google Earth, iPhone Touchscreen effects, desktop effects, etc.). Apple uses Linux technology that's true, but that's the basis of Linux, free software (freedom in costs and in usage!)

Microsoft steals it and sells it with a higher price with their monopoly position. I don't like that, in fact I hate such corporations... Microsoft started with a theft and still runs it on that crime.

Do you seriously think that iPhone is the first people to use a touchscreen in that sense? Mutitouch is not Apple's invention. Microsoft Virtual Earth is actually BETTER than Google Earth, and Google Earth is not the only program that allows you to look at the earth from composed satellite images. How is apple even REMOTELY free in costs? It is one of the most overpriced pieces of shit that I have ever seen. Also, Microsoft is the first to develop THESE desktop effects that work amazingly.

Mac systems are more developed, that comes with a price, and the Mac OS's only run on that advanced architecture, it can't be emulated by a normal PC. I'm not defending Apple here, I don't want a Mac. But it's obvious where Microsoft gets their ideas from!

I was just looking at the mac website and they use Intel Core 2 Duos and Nvidia mobile graphics cards. All of this stuff is used in PCs too so i don't see how macs are any more advanced. Please give me an example of the advanced hardware macs use.

When the OS starts and it's put into the RAM, this process goes trough address-buses. These are Apple made, not Intel nor nVidia (in fact nVidia just cached up with these techniques) these instructions go trough pipelines in the CPU (Apple made) these are engineered with a higher level of efficiency. I wouldn't say that Mac's have more advance hardware, but I have to say that the quality of their computers and their OS is extremely good. Ever since I switched to Mac I have never been happier. The OS is so much better in terms of stability and speed. But when it all comes down to it, I think it really is just your personal preference whether your going to want to use Windows or Mac OS.

Compiz has a similar feature called Opacify, which makes all windows covering the window you wanna see transparent. The cool thing about Windows 7 though, is that you just have to hover the mouse over the task bar previews, and not the window itself, like Compiz requires. Just a matter of time before there's a patch though. :D
