  • Can you pinch and zoom to magnify the text? I ask because I am visually impaired and read the print editions of Wired with a handheld digital magnifier. I'm hoping that this app would make life a little easier.

  • Great example of a super iPad meets magazine app. Other titles should take note of this!! And quick!

  • man can't believe that this was happening now. the future is near. i remember the movie "Minority Report" the guy reading a digital newspaper on the train and stared at tom cruise.

in the future schools only use a digital board and students have tablets as their notebooks. though i still want the future generations to learn how to write not just point and point. :D

  • whats up with all the jackets and ties?

  • asian wives waiting # lushfmlk.info #

  • so they use adobe air to create the magazine? will these technology translate well with other table products?

  • amazing.

  • I wonder in 15-30 years from now what we will think of this great technology because I remember 15years ago I thought a Nokia colorful-screen (now crappy) phone was such a great device to have. Now we are quite amazed how iPad is. I wonder and look forward to how the technology will grow and amaze us more

  • This looks really cool. Im geting my iPad in a few days! :)

  • "Our readers have relationships with brands." What a sad commentary on the state of things.

  • Great concept and good execution but I think what would make this a lot better is smaller sized eBook files and reasonably priced subscriptions.

  • @CassettePlaya1 With all your respect, but the digital edition of the mag is probably more complicated than the printer one. And the size is a relation of content, less size, less video, audio and animation. =)

  • @rivaszarate But the Time Magazine and Popular Science+ digital magazines for the iPad offer pretty much the same amount of content if not better in a package size of around 60Mb - 100Mb. I'm sure the content in the Wired app could be compressed to reduce initial file size but still retain content quality. They could also look at other ways of video delivery via means of streaming (but then I guess this wouldn't bode very well with offline users)

  • Over priced by far. irra

  • It's so sad none of this can be animated with flash...

  • @KnightMD Adobe Air is Flash (sort of)...

  • @rivaszarate (self response), this is not thow!,

    my bad

  • Seen yesterday @Triennale, Milan, ITALY @WIRED 'WE(B) Love Magazine'

  • Ugh, I love Wired magazine spreads. They are such beautifully designed.

  • Better on Pixel 3QI screens.

  • My God, this guy is the Smith Agent from Matrix????

  • @abralosojoschannel i said the same thing... he looks and sounds the part.

  • "At OCP, we're predicting the end of crime, in Old Detroit, within 40 days. There's a new guy in town. His name's Robocop."

  • Whose talking, Steven Wright??

  • Incredibly exciting technology, and nice to see this finally become available today in the iPad App store - it will be very interesting to see how widespread this approach becomes for magazines. Thanks for sharing.

  • Looks to me like we're being told that pdf's with a bit of interactivity are revolutionary! From experience, being able to 360 or zoom in on a running shoe, or a car, or a scantily clad model quickly becomes a bit dull... especially when all content providers are doing more or less the same thing.

Perhaps the interesting stuff will come when the smart content creatives cook up something genuinely new. For now, it's just a hype that shows up the fact that providers aren't sure what will work.

  • Massive fail to poster of video. And to think he is promoting a 'macipadforum'. It's adobe silly. That thing that Apple staunchly refuses to support.

  • wait, so this is done with Adobe Air? if not, does anybody know what technology they used for this?

  • Not bad if you have half a grand.

  • its not iPad you fail it's for HP Slate.

  • As long as they don't go crazy with the price I'll definitely be purchasing this version of Wired.

  • I noticed they mentioned Adobe Air technologies. Steve Jobs isn't going to like that. Lol

  • I'm most excited about magazines on the ipad. Tech and music magazines could truly come to life with a very visual experiene. I just hope they will be free. Singers and manufacturer can make money from sales increasing in their products and concerts etc. I hope that any advertising will not spoil the experience but enhance it. Now theirs a challenge.

  • Whoa, looks epic

  • Did Chris Anderson really just say that people should PAY for content??!!! The Wired offices look pretty swank, so I guess he's hoping that people really do not take his concept of Free too seriously.

  • I'm showing this video to every person dissing the iPad. People are just seeing this device as an oversized iTouch but they fail to understand how much potential it has.

  • cool stuff but this would have been possible even without an ipad, minus the finger touch

  • please stop calling everything and their mother a fucking REVOLUTION!!!!!

  • like always wired is best in innovative presentation of exciting content: As Jeremy Task says " it's a exciting time for publishing". It could be the best time for publishing, but traditional media did not embrace the new oportunities yet.

  • innovative!

  • I had this idea on my own, so I'm glad that it's coming to fruition (my guess is that the IPad brand had this result in mind). I, however, think that the second part of my idea should be used to make money for the IPad and for magazines like Wired.

Magazines should offer 1 year subscriptions for free to people who buy IPads. IPads would benefit because they would be selling more bang for the buck and magazines would get their names out their through IPad advertising.

  • Oh great, using crappy Adobe technology that is notorious for not bei8ng accessible to blind users on Mac OS. Therefore it's safe to assume this won't be accessible to blind Iphone OS users. Nice job wired.

  • @GrapistKATG Are you joking? I'm not really sure anymore. :D

  • that guy has a annoying voice

  • future+ipad=no news papers=no tree chop down=more oxigen=save the planet :) i love the ideea! good job! it's time to evoluate!

  • omg i had to stop the vid to say this: TECHNOLOGY ROCKS!!!! the future we once dreamed bout, has been gettign close to us!. I love how u can itneract with a magazine with an Ipad!

  • the screen of an ipad is not that big and wide

  • It is if you hold it closer to your face, or if you have small hands.

  • that not an ipad!

  • @lilblackfish2009 Yes it is, where have you been

  • hmmmm... interesting

  • Ya quiero mi iPad!

  • so cool

  • Looks very promising.

  • I love Wired, this looks awesome!!
