Wow! Haha! I didn't even know if I'd be able to find any of DC Talk's older songs on here! I remember listening to this cassette tape when I was like four. My mom's Dad is a preacher, and when she married my stepdad, he...I guess you could say he was a Christian, but not like...majorly. Anyway, she bought him this DC Talk cassette to get him into Christian music because he was really into rap (this was way back in '91 lol)
To fishybird. OMG I actually thought this was an official dc talk video, I didn't know it was a home made one. I thought maybe dc talk were trying something new, ha ha, I was fooled, well at least for a few minutes. Anyway you did a great job. I remember when this album came out it was like a breath of fresh air and something i used as a missionary to show that Christians don't always have to be boring. I thought you and your brother did a great job.
Yaweh, the video wasn't bad for a fan effort. And yeah, the editing was spot on. Nowdays I think the videos move alot faster, but since it's an old song then it should move slow, so your safe.
Haha, that was pretty decent. I really love that song and i admit Jesus is my homeboy these days LOL.
I dont know if u were actually making fun of dc talk, but u guys were great.
Also, the bits with u dancing with the pineapple were funny and random LOL. The editing was spot on too. Ur brother was great aswell. It would be great to find out if u 2 really did love that song, as kids dont listen to christian rap LOL
We listen to CHristian rap religiously.. no pun intended.
We just thought this song was kind of cheesy because it is so old, so we made a music video of it. Yeah i don't know where the pineapple idea came from. It was on our kitchen table and i just grabbed it and started dancing... I think i named it too LOL
Its cheesy, but i love it. I know it sounds corny, but music like this heped me get off drugs.
Not rap, but Dawkins and Dawkins self titled album has some majorly uptempo newjack trax, funky and religious like the track "dc talks". Also, check some mc hammer. Iam serious LOL. DC Talk ripped off "do not pass me by" for their "free at last" song.
Just let me know if u want any mp3's. Its great to see u kids kickin' it in a positive way as commercial hiphop today is so negative.
I got DC talk's Jesus Freak from a Columbia House deal and it sat around unopened for ages. One night I was drunk and had a lot of crap going on and was messed up. I popped it in the stereo and played the whole thing over and over again and the next day I gave my life to Christ. Now that's cheesy. But true to the max yo.
@FishyBirdMLS Cheesy????? You GOTTA be kiddn'. This piece is AWESOME! Growin up in '93 this was the first true bass I'd ever heard besides in conventional rap. It was AESOME that a Christian group had mastered this style of music and conquored it for God! I was blown away! I did a LOT of witnessing and influencing in the right direction with this song, a '77 Ford pickup with 2 12" subs and 200 watts!
@Starbuckin I was referring more to the fact that the music style is outdated now, and sometimes it's funny to think that this was what was cool when we were kids (or baby/toddler in my case :P ), although the lyrics are still 100% true! :) I actually put this album in my car the other week and actually enjoyed it!
That's great that you witnessed with it!! God moves in really cool ways!
@FishyBirdMLS Blessings right back! I hope your car had some subs, to truely appreciate the power of this song... The bass is unbelievable, more than a match for any rap song that has ever been produced! That combined with the great portrayal of the genre (music that was true to form) and the Christian lyrics that were DEFINITELY inspired by God Himself, had me hooked and in wonder... This whole album is FULL of music geared directly to the young adult of the early '90s.
toby mac kinda sounds like goofy
